Smahain is an Irish word and is pronounced the way you said it the second time :) Samhain was a big Celtic festival marking the end of summer and the start of winter and involved bonfires to scare away the evil spirits. It was also known as Oiche Shamna (eehaa hownah) and is the origin of Halloween today.
