This does bring back memories when we had the stereo and the old 45s. I loved all of King Floyd songs. Especially this one and Grove Me. Thanks for the memories.
Found my vinyl 45's today I've had since I was a young girl. Love this song. King Floyd-better hold on to this one. Groove me is on the other side. What a great way to spend a rainy day. Looking up old vinyl 45's.
Thank you so much for posting. I am amazed at how underrated this track is. Just listen.... how he wraps his voice around the words.... the way he enunciates. It is as if he is making love to the words. This guy had the sexiest voice of all the singers in this era and beyond. This song has such an incredible sense of intimacy it is by far the coolest, hippest, most intimate love song of all time!
i want to really thank you for putting this song up. I dont really know how to express my grattitude but I have never felt as fulfilled in my life before listening to this song.
damn i aint never heard this before... i wish this kinda soul music would get played on the radio .. they just play the same old tired oldies on the radio.. someone needs to let those people down in the radio station know theres thousands of other songs that got more soul then what they just continuosly playing
This one is a groover... all of his songs are though ... He was a SOUL singer of the finest caliber. The best is not determined by fame but by ability. You can tell when someone really believes in what they do ....
This is the way to go. I think this is what all of our love needs. I wish it was a way that I could down load this music and keep it forever. I would cherish it and play it on my way to and from work everyday.
This is back when songs were meaningful and to the point. Soulful and people actually played instruments and the lead singer could actually sing! And people actually got to call into the radio stations to request them which REALLY made an artist a true star. Now, we have these weak whispering voices on these artificial computer tracks and the DJ's are forced to play what the record companies program them to and then we are TOLD who is a star which tends to be the ones with the least talent.
I hear that...of course all these lame talent shows don't help. they allow people to burst onto the scene without putting in the hard graft that other much more deserving people have done. Makes me sick that people buy into it...oh well. Rant over =P
@TheVictory1019 You know what I mean?! I get so tired of hearing all of this soul-less music today. Everybody wants to talk about bling this and bling that. Most of which they truly don't have. Then these R&B artist can't sing without the help of studio electronics. As soon as they go live, they sound like Weezy Jefferson. Lol. The music industry today is in bad shape. I now find myself listening to old school most of the time, leaving the radio off.
@madefrom9 You are right!!! Back in the day, you HAD to have some talent for anyone to even take you seriously. Now, any young girl willing to get damn near naked in front of a camera or any young male willing to make himself look ridiculous and degrade women, these record companies gives them a live mike and calls them a star. Back in the day, these artists sang from their soul ~ just like my man King Floyd. And he was sexy as hell. Him and Joe Simon had it going on.
@TheVictory1019 Absolutely! It's like as long as they can whore an artist out, they could care less that he/she has no talent. Today, real artist like Calvin Richardson, Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild or Urban Mystic, are purposely pushed aside in favor of jokes like Souja Boy, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and a host of other studio created clowns. It is so frustrating. I recently helped a friend of mine run sound at a so called "concert" here in Augusta for the rap artist Slim Thug. (cont)
(2) These artist really take themselves seriously! The sound checks are so horrible. All they do is yell over pre recorded tracks that already have their vocals on it and they have these serious looks on their faces as if they are tearing it up. Lol. I can't believe people pay good money to go see that crap. A real concert has a tight band playing real instruments with singers that can bring the house down with their voices. Now that's a show to pay for. Times have changed for the worst.
@TheVictory1019 I agree with everthing you say girl, but King Floyd being your man and having him all to your self, i do not think so, because today i am stepping in lol i guess we are sharing now. R.I.P KING FLOYD
@wildcherry171 Girl ~ you are a mess :)! I understand what you talkin' 'bout! I can remember growing up and my older sibblings had A BUNCH of these good old songs on 45s and I'm spending a fortune collecting some of those songs on CDs. And you know a bunch of them are out of print. But I remain hopeful. I reckon I can share King Floyd wit' 'cha. He was sexy a hell though. If my momma knew the thoughts I had about this man back then .... Lord have mercy on my soul!!!!

Yes, he was a saxophone player from Texas who played on many sessions and had some solo hits including 'Soul Twist'.

@IntellectualMusic Yes. He recorded for Atlantic. Check out Memphis soul stew and listen to the sublime raw sax.

This is the real stuff... not what some people sing today saying it's SOUL. Soul music has to come from the " SOUL "...
