The New York Transit Museum will run about 2-3 fan trips per year during the summertime - mainly out to the Rockaways or Coney Island (trains to the beach,) but this season the IRT is running the "Train of Many Colors" for a 100th anniversary celebration of service to Atlantic & Flatbush Aves in Brooklyn and Van Cortlandt park in the Bronx (stay tuned for that one!) These Christmas runs were done every Sunday in December of 2007 - whether they will be done again this year is anybody's guess.
It's that sound that is like no other, the low groan of the motors as they get up to speed. Brings back such memories, thanks for sharing this video.
