to find hidden items you need to look for slight differences in the area your looking for items, i noticed that where you jumped after fighting the shorts kid had slightly darker grass in a patch. those are marks of a hidden item

you're probably very lucky from the zigzagoon. same thing happened to me with my emerald verson on the real gba. thanks to that lvl 4 raccoon i have 3 full restores, 4 revives, 2 ultra balls, and one nugget that i sold. not to mention im not even past petalburg woods yet.
