historically, ferrets have been used to fight rattlesnakes. They are natural enemies. Not exactly a great thing to do- but it is true.

Granted, but they're not something you can walk into your average pet store and find. I mean, at most, pet stores nowadays have fish and small animals (that don't need exercising like ferrets). I think that's why people in stores don't sell them, they don't have the time to care for them while they're waiting to be bought.

Actually, and quite unfortunately, Petco and other such stores are sell ferrets nowadays. They have four or five little kits all cooped up in tiny glass tanks with old bedding, a ton of excrement, and barely enough food and water. I just wish I could stop them from selling them at all, EVER...unless of course they get larger cages and people to play with and care for them. Probably not gonna happen. :(
