My country should have a shame and stop trying to convince developed nations to reduce carbon emissions and adopt "greeny decisions". They clearly don't give a fuck about this. Countries in developing and sub-developed countries should adopt the same idea.

I am dismayed and disgusted. Rather than work harder to achieve our goals of climate change and a brighter future, this government has just given up on this urgent issue. Today, for the first time in my life, I am ashamed to be a Canadian.

@godonlyknows13 wasn't it urgent in the early 90's, if we didn't do anything there would be catastrophic world ending weather by the year 2000. then in 2000 it was going to be the end of world for 2010, so now I guess its 2020! Perhaps there is no problem just a thought! After all we are burned over half the world's fossil fuels, burn up the other half I assume we will have the same nothing results! :)

@nigelelsass Thank-you for your comment, provides some great insight to all those in support of Kyoto. To answer your question, yes their are many Universities in Canada! I just don't understand why you asked? Things that lead to Canada backing out, were taught in primary school. In Canada, children are taught things like the Scientific Method and are encouraged to use Logic and Reason in solving problems! Every country in the Kyoto Accord should do the same! :)

Relax, its cold out, were in Canada all bundled up, we could use a couple degrees more in warmth! I suggest you do what Jack did to keep a smile on his face. I here those Asian Rub and Tugs are excellent at taking away the winter blaws! :)

@godonlyknows13 : Canada is at this point the worst country on earth... asking a similarly binding goal from Indians who emitt 1/10th of what Canadians emitt and have a GDP per capita of not even 1/40th... that´s.... pure cowardice. It´s trying to find the poorest excuse ever for the lack of action. There is no maple leaf large enough to hide Canada´s shame.

I don't think the earth, distinguishes pollution from developing countries and developed, USA or Canada, China or India! Doesn't India have the highest projected growth in emissions after China and the United States, over the next 20 years?

@byronintegrated : why would India committ to anything if countries with MUCH higher emission per capita, with much higher financial and technologic means to reduce its emissions (Canada) - are too coward to do what they promise? A word in the mouth of a canadian is lie and hypocracy.

Even China which emitts 1/3rd per capita and has an income of 1/7th per capita does much more than Canada to curb its emissions.

God curse Canada.

@nigelelsass Here is another mass media talking point, doesn't China build a coal plant a week! Not sure how that curbs emissions for the earth, if your make believe man in the sky vaporized Canada tomorrow! It would not make any difference if the developing world keeps growing and US keeps giving the finger to Kyoto!

Why trash your fellow Canadians! Blame Jean Chretien who signed knowing Canada would increase, not reduce emissions! On the US side, it was Al Gore who refused to sign! :)

@byronintegrated : Well because China phased out all old inefficient coal power plants under 100MW !!! The efficiency of their power plants, cars, steel mills, cement plants is higher than the North American ones.

I am proudly not Canadian... who would then now today want to be part of such a shitty nation? it does not (no longer) belong to the developed world.

I would point out that Steven Harper is the fuck up here. It may be the Canadian gov't that is effing this whole thing up, but not necessarily the Canadian people... We just voted that asshole into office.
