Am a Nigerian born in France but i live in the UK. My parents are from the Igbo tribe in Nigeria. They told me that alot of Igbo's were deported to Haiti during slavery. They always pray for their brothers in Haiti. During the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the Igbo community here in the UK made contributions for their Haitian brothers. I love Haiti so much. In France, Haitians are not arrogant like people from Guadeloupe & Martinique. We love Haiti Kompa music, Carimi & Sweet Mickey. Nice people!
@srdarline1 I am Haitian. It has been 8 months since the earthquake. People around the world sent money for Haiti. We have 8 million unemployed people. Those people could have helped cleaning the debris. It is a crime and a shame. I am not talking about reconstruction. I am talking about cleaning. Is it the Haitian government or the World Bank who does not want to release the funds? Someone, please explain.
@HaitiXchange There is and always has been oil in Haiti. It'll come down to who will contol the oil. There maybe alot of blood and there may not. We'll see.
The HEDF is a grass roots private investment fund designed to continue the mission of investing in small and medium-sized local Haitian businesses. The initial goal of the Fund is to take the unique combination of public funding and private skill and encourage free-market development through loans and equity investments in small and medium sized enterprises.

thanks haitiXchange for the video. it really show what the laid back attitude you get when you chill in haiti . I went there and spent also 3 days in Dr for the holidays and had a blast. port-au-prince and gonaives was sick. I don't listen to people who dont travel to the country and talk about it like they know things but you realised that they just say what they medias teach them!
Many of the buildings you see in this video are no longer standing. HaitianCreation and his son Junior) are fine 0:34 . Unfortunately Naika, the girl sitting in the back of the car when we were drinking the Haitian icees 2:16 was crushed in her home during the quake.
You can watch an interview I did with HaitianCreation here by searching for "Haiti Earthquake Interview"
People don't realize the totality of this!It could happen anywhere!Whose to say how safe "One" would be!I grew up with Haitians and I must say "they are a strong people!I have seen first hand. This is so over whelming. Although, I dis agree with the palace and a few other things that are cultural to Haiti. I believe God still loves the Haitian people.

I sincerely hope that the quake is the beginning of a better time for Haiti. People, your country is in ruins. Germany, Japan,... where in ruins 60 years ago and are now prosperous countries! This is your opportunity Haiti !!! Go for it! Good luck!
Thank you for your words of kindness. Haiti has NEVER experienced this kind of disaster, but think u for giving me hope for a better future for my country
Shows how uneducated and ignorant you are. For 150 years Haiti paid France what is equal to 8 billion dollars in today's money for their freedom. Meaning they paid to end slavery for every person. So no wonder they are poor. Get education before you start talking senseless bullshit. Also Nigeria is building a city from land rec. Eko Island. Look it up. Accra Ghana is the third strongest economy behind S. Africa, and Nigeria.
IN Haiti , THEY SELL there own children for sex and to be slaves in 2010 ! there sick fucks these sub humans , they worship the devil , they steal rape have aids etc /.DONT SEND MONEY TO HAITI . I asked him to say hello to the people who would be watching the video on the HaitiXchange webs site. He understood me fine, but was just playing "shy" since the camera was on. He's a very intelligent young fellow.
hi did you know that music yo have on the background sounds alot like a music call gaga in dominican republic you should check that out! to see if is the same
The music is called Ra Ra and originates from Haiti. The genre was imported to the Dominican Republic and is now an integral part of the Afro-Dominican music scene, where it is known colloquially as Gaga.

I really like the video, it's really simple and true without the negativity that tends to associate when showing Haiti. It shows the country for what it is and what it has to offer which are pure laid back adventures without the disney airbrush that is associated with most Cariibean Islands not to say that Haiti doesn't need some good airbrushes but not with the expenses of loosing its authenticity.
Gilgabe, I'm glad that you enjoy the video. I travel to Haiti often, and for me this is an average trip without all the danger and drama that people think accompanies trips to Haiti.
I've received many comments regarding how comfortable I look. I guess many people expected me to to have a frightened look and be running from corner to corner. I'm always comfortable in Haiti.
Yeah.. I agree withh GWOZ0Z0.. Love the narration.. love the feel of this video.. I never been to haiti but this video makes it so appealing.. Please make this a regular feature of HaitiXchange...
Thanks. The response for these videos have been overwhelming. People seem to like the informal, exploratory nature of simple every-day place and life. We're going to ty to bring you more of this type of video in an effort to dimystify Haiti and make it less intimidating.
Oh My God I feel HORRIBLE! I haven't been to The Iron Market since 1984 or 85 and I've lived in Haiti all my life till 1995 and plan on moving back before the year is over. I have to take a trip there....
