This is why Jozy needs to be in there. His ball skills and fundamentals well, frankly, suck but the man has the most powerful shot I've seen from any US player and he can get it on frame. Even that Canada goal, which was a little soft, got in because Altidore hit it so well the keeper didn't have time to react. Also, see his goal against Casillas in the 2009 Spain match.
@TheNearPost True, he can beat some players with pure pace off the dribble [see that English defender in the WC where he almost scored off a great run]- but not with deft touches or stepovers.
@rollotwomassey Actually, the kid has had some great moments where he has made a move and gotten by players. Remember the Holland game where he split the two defenders with the back heel and almost found Findley? I'm not saying he does it frequently, but I'd say he burns someone at least once or twice a game.
Chicharito has great instinct to find goal, which is an underrated talent. Some people say he's just lucky to be in the right place at the right time, but he's been there on too many occasions to call it luck. At the same time, his goals are mostly tap-ins. This is a great strike.
I sometimes feel that the USA just didnt try much in the group stage since we know were going to the final and owning Mexico. But I dont know, I hope thats what the US is doing, saving the best for last.
@Michael8414 remember when jozy was champion with his club team in the EPL was the 2nd goal leader in his club behind berbabtov?.... O shit wait that was chicharito my bad. Lol
It's all about da US of A but there performance these last couple of matches doesn't convince me that they will defeat Mexico and win da Gold Cup.We need to improve a lot, especially Dempsey.
I like Jozy don't get me wrong, but Chicharito actually scored goals in the world cup, and actually won the EPL with Manchester United, Jozy barely gets playing time in his own club. But I still have high hopes for Jozy if he starts scoring goals more regularly.
@tripleshawndx Better than any of our forwards, yes. I wouldn't say he is better than donovan or dempsey though, since hernandez has such little foot skill and isn't very good at linking up with other players, just receiving the ball.
English announcers are so much better than American

@rollotwomassey I agree with most of this, but I think ur underestimating his ability to take players on. His touch IS frequently poor though.
