If someone is gong on deployment I would always check with your chain of command. Not sure how much you can take over outside of some civilian coloring and your required kit. You maybe be limited what you can take outside of your military issued gear.Maybe it's different in the US Military.
Great post. I just returned from a trip to SWA last week (contractor) and had a rough time. Got food poisoning and was stung by a scorpion. Antibiotics and some pepto would have been great in my kit. I also could have used some gauze for my wound. Had to cut up a cotton t-shirt to improvise.
Your a very smart man!! Its the type of pask I would do if I was still in The gold and silver is well thought out I had to buy my way out at one time (long story) I see it as every man overseas should You are hook up sir well thought out. Ill pass this along. Soon it will be this way here? I do this now 24/7 where ever I go.
I have that same sponge idea but, instead of a sponge I use a Sham-Wow. It may sound silly, but, I think it's a little more versatile than a sponge. Good luck to you over there.
Question. I know it will vary a lot, but do you have a ball park figure for the amount of precious metals you should carry to get you back home?
Btw: read the detailed article on your web site. nicely done. I appreciate the additional info on the Isat. I have been considering getting a sat phone for a while.
@Theroadworrier, I have a question, dong you think you would be safest with the military that you have been stationed with. They have everything they need to survive for months if on a ship. If I understand your scenario then you will only be returning home if your last man standing or a stragglier
Love your bugout / get home bags. I must have watched your Jan 1. 2010 bug out bag vid a million times. I see a few of the same pieces of gear. I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of this info! Be Safe!!!!!
Can a some one traveling get this bag on a plane just wondering cause it looks like I will be traveling over there soon to the middle east all the info on the topic will be helpful thank you great video
I've been thinking about this a lot, and have come to some of the same conclusions. This is arguably one of the most difficult situations to be in during a collapse, especially with the whole getting outta dodge and laying low before the military notices that you've "punched out". As has been said, this kit can definitely work for civilian applications, and the best part is that it isn't an enormous 90-lbd ruck!
Godspeed on your deployments, friend. I pray that these items are not necessary.
@idk2say the bag isn't big and it's a hiking pack. Not a military ruck. Yes, the military allows you to take personal belongings as long as you can fit them in the space provided.
great vid! i was the last man in my battalion to leave saudi in 91, it was scary as hell & no where near the animosity towards Americans, as today. be safe & God speed brother.
Interesting video, thanks. You presume that in case of troubles you would be the safest by going back to the continental US. It would be interesting to see your preparations if just the opposite was true.
Hands down that is the finest collection of bug out equipment I've seen so far roadwarri0r! I especially like the SAT phone and tube vaults. Thank you for sharing. Great information and great video!
In Britain if you look like you're out camping in the countryside and you have a knife it should be fine as long as you tell the copper. He'll probably ask you to put it out of sight if it's on the outside of a bag.
I'm not sure about in a British city though. Knife crime is huge in London and it can be up to 5 years in jail if caught in possession without a reason.
@mmkbkk good point, but it might be helpful in establishing the knife as a military issued tool of your trade. Lends more credibility to you. No knife wielding murderer would have his name and branch of military service engraved on his knife.
Hey man, great video. Best of luck to you overseas and always. This video is perfect timing, I just started reading Survivors the other day, and one of the characters is an airforce officer stranded overseas struggling to get home post shtf. Also just a great kit in general. That's a lot of utility for 35lbs.
@Theroadw0rrier, great stuff I'm glad to see new up loads lately. Do you think you will be able to do any videos while you are over seas, that would be great! But I hope you keep in touch with the Internet, stay safe
I second the anti-diarrheal medication suggestion. Never know what you can run into with another country's drinking water. Excellent video Road Warrior
Well done, I have been doing this for almost 40 years and found a few things that I would have loved to of had on deployment. Not much to comment on great job and I mean roger that! Stay sharp and live long.
Most of the items here would be good in a domestic get home bag or bug out bag as well. I didn't even know they made quick clot with silver ions, $18 for one 25g pack at amazon, expensive stuff but it could save your life.
@ShockForce42 Apologies, but I typically don't answer specific operating location or job questions for PERSEC reasons. I can say that I will be operating in the CENTCOM AOR for much of 2012 and that I am a commissioned naval officer by trade.
@chieppa thanks for the suggestion. If you read the companion article to this video (link in description box), you'll see that I posted a link to that specific book and talked a little about it. I enjoyed it. Thanks for your comment.
Very interesting.
