Would you rather get a Corvette or a Mustang GT500 both with the same amount of power?
I'm gonna guess and say you're going to go with the Corvette right? Why? Because of the weight.
So in terms of performance cars if you're saying either Dodge or GM then you're basically saying you would want the GT500 from the situation above because Challenger and Camaro both weight hundreds of pounds more than the GT500.

@8xxABHIxx8 zo6 gets 20+mpg. zr1 gets around 18. and that's great for a car that can hit 200mph. all weight does is reduce wheel spin and make the car's acceleration slower untill it picks up speed. if the camaro weighs less or equal to the mustang , it's acceleration would be alot better and it's handling too. plus challenger's have 425hp and 4100lbs(about) compared to 580hp with 4200lbs. also on the weight , it adds more grip on a car.

The weight has nothing to do with how much you can grip the road. What matters it the drive type, the tires, the suspension, spoilers, splitters, weight distribution etc. You can have a 2000 lb car grip better than a 4000 lb car with the right set up. Trust me, the ZL1 will never be able to shed 4-500 lbs.

11.2 was good for the ZR1 in 2009 on a NON PREPPED SURFACE, but not in 2011. The GT-R does 11.1, 458 Italia does 10.9, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S PDK does 10.70 all on NON PREPPED SURFACES. They could all do much better on highly prepped drag strips. The 458 Italia could probably run high 10.5s on a highly prepped drag strip. BTW, besides the GT-R all the others will crush the ZR1 in 0-300 km/h and in the Standing mile as well. Even the ANCIENT Ferrari F40 will beat the ZR1 in 0-300km/h.

The most amazing thing is the trap speed in the 1/4 mile test. 130.5 mph is absolutely insane for a street car. Once those tires hook up, it's bye bye to just about anything on the road including the 2012 GTR. Remember trap speed is more telling of a cars performance than elapsed time and there aren't many cars anywhere including lamborghini or ferrari that trap that high. Once this car gets full traction it just screams.

Try over 500 ft-lbs of torque from 2,200 - 6,600 rpms. That is power in every gear and fun around town.

Yes it does use leaf springs but with a magnetic ride suspension. The foundation of the suspension is old tech but overall is very advanced. The interior is not bad considering the price of the car. Gasoline swallowing? Last time I checked there isn't a more fuel efficient car than the ZR1 within 150HP of it.
In Europe we can get over 200 hp out of 1.6 ltr. engine in America they need a 3.0 v6 to get the same HP.

It is hardly a measure of which one is faster. It took Nissan almost 2 and 1/2 years, much tweaking, 1,000s of laps and 10s of thousands of dollars to beat a June 2008 time by the ZR1. You guys make it seem like GM took a 2010 or 2011 ZR1 there and was beat by the 2012 GTR which is hardly the case. The 2012 GTR beat the 2011 ZO6 by .18 seconds on a track. The ZR1 handles better.

11.2 was good for the ZR1 in 2009 on a NON PREPPED SURFACE, but not in 2011. The GT-R does 11.1, 458 Italia does 10.9, and the Porsche 911 Turbo S PDK does 10.70 all on NON PREPPED SURFACES. They could all do much better on highly prepped drag strips. The 458 Italia could probably run high 10.5s on a highly prepped drag strip. BTW, besides the GT-R all the others will crush the ZR1 in 0-300 km/h and in the Standing mile as well. Even the ANCIENT Ferrari F40 will beat the ZR1 in 0-300km/h.

@13tomabram You're making stuff up. The 911 Turbo S PDK ran 2.6 0-60 and 10.70 1/4 mile in a Road and Track test. ZR1 has NEVER run faster than 11.2 1/4 CONFIRMED STOCK. Everything in the 10s for the ZR1 was shady. Drag Radials, weight lightening, mods, all possible for ALLEGED ZR1 10 second runs.

The most amazing thing is the trap speed in the 1/4 mile test. 130.5 mph is absolutely insane for a street car. Once those tires hook up, it's bye bye to just about anything on the road including the 2012 GTR. Remember trap speed is more telling of a cars performance than elapsed time and there aren't many cars anywhere including lamborghini or ferrari that trap that high. Once this car gets full traction it just screams.

@blahblop123 What are you talking about? A lot depends on the surface and the skills of the driver. I have never seen a 3.8, which is worse than the ZO6 BTW and very close to the Grand Sport. Anyone that knows about Corvettes doesn't spew so much nonsense on a Corvette Video. The new ones(2010+) with LC can hit consistent 11.5s in the 1/4 and 3.5s 0-60. That is just one measurement. Try over 500 ft-lbs of torque from 2,200 - 6,600 rpms. That is power in every gear and fun around town.

@futte2303 Full of lies in your post. American cars cant turn? ZR1 outperforms just about every car in the skid pad and has the best 60-0 braking of EVERY production car ever made. Yes it does use leaf springs but with a magnetic ride suspension. The foundation of the suspension is old tech but overall is very advanced. The interior is not bad considering the price of the car. Gasoline swallowing? Last time I checked there isn't a more fuel efficient car than the ZR1 within 150HP of it.

@07Z06ss The MagneRide was developed together with Ferrari (for the old 599 model) the new ones like the 458 was developed with the BWI group so it's no longer connected to GM which reminds me of that stupid commercial in which a CTS-V (great car nevertheless) is compared with a 458 Italia in terms of the suspension.

The 2012 GTR stops in 108 feet and the 2012 ZO6 stops in 96 feet. The GTR pulls 1.02 g's and the ZO6 pulls 1.13 g's. Back to the drawing board Nissan.

This 2009 zr1 does 11.2 at 130 and a 2012 GTR does 11.1 at 124 Yes it has a better 0-60 and hair better 1/4 mile time at .1 faster But the zr1 is doing 6 mph faster and ready to blow by the Nissan like a rocket.

Maybe Nissan should have focused on marketing for the GTR because the sales numbers are in the toilet. All of its performance and only 60 were sold in 2 months of 2011 here in the US where more are sold than in Japan. They thought it would sell itself and were very mistaken.

It is hardly a measure of which one is faster. It took Nissan almost 2 and 1/2 years, much tweaking, 1,000s of laps and 10s of thousands of dollars to beat a June 2008 time by the ZR1. You guys make it seem like GM took a 2010 or 2011 ZR1 there and was beat by the 2012 GTR which is hardly the case. The 2012 GTR beat the 2011 ZO6 by .18 seconds on a track. The ZR1 handles better.
