  • looks good man

  • You PAID $500 for THAT??? Any pawn shop (bunch of theives!) would sell you one like that for no more than $230.

  • is this a joke?

  • its funny that he owns a guitar stand. and probably has a hard case too.

i can sort of understand if you want this-its your guitar, but why a how to on 'how to hit your guitar with a spanner?'

  • WHY?

  • How do you remove a waterslide decal?

  • didnt dirty the pickups at all - not relic: damage.

  • Ha-ha That's funny guy

  • you forgot to mention about when you asked your guitar to marry you.

  • you're stupid why shpuld you hurt that poor jag??

  • Yea, I can, but I don't want to. Honest dings from 50 years of intense playing is fine, but simply chipping off the paint on a newer Guitar is just silly.

  • why chip away the poly finish? it's not nitro man

  • Dang! For each his own, but i liked it the way it was.

  • you did that wrong, look how fender does it!

  • What a moron! Is this a fucking joke???

  • That is a beautiful guitar, but un-ruined.

  • the sad thing is i would have loved to have that now it looks like crap

  • so when you say "mod" you are basically telling us to brutally harm our guitars?

  • i got a cigar and burned marks on mine

  • the opposite of painting a guitar

  • the face is way to shiney and it just looks like shit it does'nt look aged at all maybe try takin all the chrome hardware off and dunk it in a buckit of saltwater then let it sit outside for a week or two including the screws for the pick guard and get some water with some yellow food coloring or transparent yellow paint wipe on and then wipeit off real quick maybe some brown two that will give it the look your looking for you could also sandblast all the hardware before the saltwater treatment

  • you psycho, you are killing this girl, why so much violence!

  • yeah you should naturally let it get to look like shit over time. i banged my guitar against the wall when i turned and it got a chip. i was fuckin pissed lol

  • YOU ARE FUCKING SICK!

  • nice

  • wait... the part where your arm rests and rubs off doesnt chip paint it rubs it off so it looks faded.

  • I want the 1959 Danelectro in the background.

  • you could have repaired this guitar

  • DUDE this doesn't work because the paint isn't faded at all. Also, all of your hardware is sparkling chrome! You need to rust up your hardware!

  • Bravo! You made a musical instrument look like a piece of JUNK.

  • Great video, really informative and easy to follow.

  • instead of relicing that nice jaguar he could have given the money to starving kids, no are you proud mister (:

  • omg

  • So many people being assholes about this cat's choice in what he wants his guitar to look like... really sad.

When I build my heavily relic-ed Warmoth/All Parts Jazzmaster copy with an EMG 81/60 set in it... I'll make sure I post a video of it for all the geezers to get their panties in a bunch over. :D

  • i dont think i would have paid 500$ unless it belonged to someone amazing (like a pro) and i was buying right from their hands

  • @nofxb182 where the hell would you get a famous persons guitar for 500 bucks

  • I like your methods. Very well done. Nothing overboard like heavy relic-ing. I'm in the process of doing mine now. I'll do a little chipping and sanding here and there but here's my take: play the guitar while running to get real practice and real sweat all over the guitar, real wear marks from skin oil/sweat contact.

  • I think the best way how to relic your guitar is to give it a start, like sand paper abit there and there but later on play the shit out of, you will receive a reliced guitar plus better guitar playing skills!

  • Oh Lord... that's not relic! THAT'S DAMAGE!

  • @Guitarradoalem NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Guitarradoalem no kiding that was an ok guitar til he beat the fuck out of the side

  • but...how does it SOUND?

  • as much as I agree with all of these comments that this is a fucking stupid idea, your guitars wont actually relic that much with age because of the finish, in other words, you dont get that cool paint wear, just nicks dings and dents. which also sucks.

but NEVER would I attack my guitar with all of this shit.

  • RELIC MY GUITAR?

WHAT A FUCKING STUPID IDEA IS THIS.....I BOUGHT MY GUITAR...IT WAS USED BUT THE GUY WHO OWNED IT BROUGHT IT TO THE SHOP AS IMMACULATE....AND EVEN IF I PLAYED IT FOR 10 YEARS IT STILL IS. USING A SCREWDRIVER ON A GUITAR TO MAKE IT RELIC IS A CRIME FOR ME. YOUR VIDEO IS AN ABSOLUTELY CRAP AND A LOSS OF TIME

  • what a fucking idiot

  • People with Douche-worn guitars should be drag beaten to within an inch of their lives. This is the guitar equivalent of putting a rolled up pair of socks in your underwear.

  • @Hoopermazing ...dragged through the streets and beaten...

  • I bet his goatee smells like angst.

  • @Michael55443 ...and irony (as well as his boyfriend's balls.)

  • just play it , don't fuck it up

  • shave your goatee!!

  • wow good job.... now it really looks like you scraped it up with a screw driver

  • RELIC MY GUITAR!

HOW ABOUT JUST PLAYING THE HELL OUT OF IT - OR DRAGGING IT BEHIND YOUR CAR - DUMB SHIT!

THIS GUY NEEDS TO BE THE CEO OF 'VILLIAGE EXPERT IDIOTS'!

  • PLAY BALLZ OUT,HIT IT AGAINST EVERYTHING,LEAVE IT OUSIDE IN THE SUN ALL DAY, AND BOOM RELIC GUITAR.

  • It is surprising to me how many people jump on relic forums or view relic videos and just hate on them. You clearly aren't a fan so why even let yourself view these things and get so offended.

  • buy a 50 dollar guitar to practice next time ^^

  • this is stupid.

A - the guitar is a quality fender.

B - the relic doesnt look realistic.

C - the chrome hardware and the pickguard look brand new so it doesnt match the ageing on the body.

    D - dumbest idea ever.

E - dont fuck up another good guitar again.

  • why d hell wud y break such a abeatiful guitar

  • just throw your guitar down from the stairs, same result, much less time consuming XD

  • what the fuck is wrong with you ? would you like it if i 'reliced' your face ?

  • The guitar looks awful to me.

  • whats with the thumbs up

  • Tell all these nay sayer to go fuck themselves. That guitar went from average to killer. It already was chuncked up, for the love of Pete! Nice job all the way around. Did you sand down the clearcoat to dull the shine? It looks like you did, but I don't remember you mentioning it.

  • тЫ что дурак??? Люди хоть чтоб ты ткнул и сказал вот так было, а это я сделал, а не пиздежа тупого на 9 мин. может уже потом кому интересно ты расскажешь как ты "это" сделал. ))) Goood luck lol )))

  • this guys a fucking retard...

  • i feel stupid for even watching this.

  • Some people like relic guitars some people like shiny guitars. I dont know why the relic haters would spend their 'precious' time watching videos they dont like and leave negative comments on them....

  • i have a question, 2 acctually, 1.what did people think when u were rubbing ur guitar on the sidewalk? and 2.....R U FUCKING CRAZY???

  • yeah cauz i want to do that to my brand new ibanez rg321mh

  • You're f**ing cool ! Love you subbed and liked ! ;D Thumbs up!

  • ass hole!!!

  • FYI for those who want to relic a guitar try picking it up and playing the shit out of it. A relic guitar is earned from hours of dedication and passion for the instrument.

  • @MegaReaper127 I would but the make the paint out of that space age shit nowadays that will last after im dead.

  • @MegaReaper127

    Go away.

Who's got 20 years of smokey bars and hold down an accountant job as well...? Seriously.

The other thing is...and you know we all did it...when we got new jeans....most of us washed them like 600 times and ripped them if possible to make them feel good and look cool..

Relic guitars are nice and relaxed to play..easy to put away... and they look great when done right.so again go away with your admonishments that are unrealistic for 99% of us.

  • @zeroceiling idk just play the damn thing alot have some passion

  • @droyfiend138

even with passion it will take me 20 years to break in a guitar to the shape I like to see and feel...I dont have the time....

..not that he is god ...but actually the whole relic thing started with Keith Richards who went to Fender when one of his stage guitars bit the dust he asked that the custom shop add the old marks and age marks on the new piece.... as he did not want to go on stage with a gleaming new Tele...

hey if its good enough for .......right?

  • @zeroceiling damn 20 years haha i can get it broken in within a year or 2 lol

  • @MegaReaper127 A-muffukkin'-men, Brotherman!

  • It's not really relicing dude, like not raggin on ya but, like ok my guitar I play my supped up dean got me some nice ass dimarzios in on it got my floyd dude my guitar has the shit beat out of it i ply it so much and over time it relics, it gives it character, your "relic" of a guitar has no character its like wearing a mask dude. like I said not raggin but just play your guitar and over time it will become A G6!!!

  • Playing your guitar into the ground is way cooler that fucking your guitar into the ground. Please trim your chin hairs and put the screwdriver back in the garage. Or a light socket.

  • dumb ass

  • can i just say this doesnt look like an old guitar... i know you've "relic-d" it.. but it looks pathetic.. .any real guitar player wouldnt do that to a guitar... one of my mates has a 69 jaguar... that is a proper relic... and that is just petty and shite compared to it...

  • If anyone wants to know how to PROPERLY relic your guitar, you simply buy a guitar you REALLY like and love, and play it for 30 years. Take good care of it, but it will wear after you have played it for thousands of hours, but then you'll really have something you're proud of.

  • It's a weird trend to make nice things look like old sh1t (???) I'll never understand it.

  • yeah, i know what you mean, but its still a great guitar though. i think this "Relic" stuff is bigger bullshit, dont you?

  • @alread56 that "relic" stuff isnt actually bullshit. u can hear the difference between a new finished guitar and a guitar which has alot of cracks on it and places wheres no paint at all. the relic guitars sound much fatter and have more bottom end. Especially on strats its a good thing to have that extra low sounding boost, because u all know strats sound rather thin.

  • @Ayralis : no you can´t hear differences... if you try the mexican relics against the equal standard mexican stat , you´ll find no difference. if you talk about the 3500€/4800$ custom shop relics,,,,, sure they sound better than your american standard strat.

fender spokesman say the relic-guitars are "lifestyle-items" , like stone-washed jeans etc.

  • @maeckie55 I played my mexican classic 60´s strat in direct comparison with a roadworn fender 60´s strat.

Both guitars have the same specs such as wood and pickups. It was a hell of a difference. And of course its also an optical thing.

  • this "relic" stuff, i really dont get it. ive got a nice collection of guitars and i want to keep them in the best condition possible. i have 6 strats two of which are tokia's. one is really beaten up and i dont want to make it any worse! I remember when my les paul accidently fell over and took a lump of pain off the head stock.. i was really gutted. I love my guitars so can someone tell me what i am missing? best wishes to all, Al.

  • dude...what are you guys complaining about? thats the right thing to do to a fuckin japanese bullshit guitar.

  • @muffdiver2013 Lol. Japanese Guitars have a really good quality and are far better then squier guitars or even those mexican made guitars from fender.

  • I love my jaguar too much to do that, and its second hand too,

why wreck a perfectly good guitar? that means when its old its gonna look even shittier!

thumbs up if you agree ;)

  • Japanese Fenders are pretty good guitars, but at $500 you overpaid for it - and then you destroyed it so it has zero resale value. Lame. What is the point of "relic-ing" a guitar... anyone who hears you play it will know that you didn't put the road wear on it from the actual road. It's just lame lame lame.

  • @moucon Buy an SX, you can find it for $50. It's not much of a lost for practising how to relic it.

  • @moucon if you're a real guitarist you don't give a crap about resell value

  • dont fake an old guitar. buy an old guitar.

  • Best way to Relic a guitar is to actually play the guitar at the club, a lot. So, when you pick it up a beat up guitar you can really play.

  • you used the poly for the finish to not yellow right?

  • that doesnt really look road worn cuz a guitar with good relic arent chunked out there like worn. haha

  • If u feel good doing this to your guitar then you don't deserve to have a guitar... This is just horrible...

  • It looks like a new guitar that someone's kid got a hold of. If you actually have a relic then you know the wood over the years has had a chance to dry out and really sound good. BTW I have a Fender Jaguar and this just pisses me off and I have a Vintage 1964 Fender Mustang which has the legitimate marks this guy is trying to impose on this Jag and they all tell a story.

  • "One of those rare porn shop moments..." I'm sorry I'll read that again, "Pawn shop moments."

  • i think you got ripped of for 500 coud of got a new one for that price

  • Doesn't look to good Super Shiny chrome parts , and the Wearing doesn't look natural wear it looks like chipping.

  • Lol you guys are dumb, if he wants to do that then he can. He can buy another jazzmaster.

  • @LetsGetHighOnMorris a jazzmaster is a bass.

  • @ZoSoVirtuoso1 ...Excuse me? Uh, no. That's a guitar. I guess I messed up when I said that, I meant Fender Jag. But A Fender Jazzmaster ... is a guitar.

  • @LetsGetHighOnMorris sorry, thinkin of jazz bass my bad. i always call it a jazzmaster on accident.

  • @ZoSoVirtuoso1 No, it is not.

  • If you just play it to death, it will have natural wear and surprise, you end up a better player. This approach presents you as a phony poseur.

I don't agree in destroying an instrument like this. At 7:40, you say "I don't really know what I'm doing". I'll agree with you there.

  • You're an idiot the only thing that damage has been done to the guitar because it seems to become a new guitar badly broken

  • tu eres idiota lo unico que has hecho a sido estropear la guitarra porque te a quedado mal parece una guitarra nueva rota

  • Im a mandated reporter, and I'm calling GPS! Sick and sadistic! My heart breaks.

  • This is silly

  • :O the guy just ruined a peece of history

  • what condition is the neck in?

  • the paint is destroy all around but nice in the center... chrope part are clean ... do it a 100% or don't do it but it never look's like a authentic 70's fender >.<"

  • i never seen the point of relicing, personaly if you want a guitar to look old get stained up in the smokey old blues clubs, stand at every bus stop in the world with it in all weather, in give or take 30 years of hard use it will be well worn in.................... a relic some might say. btw did anybody else notice the paint was to white to ever be convincing as a erm relic.

  • @80smetalgod1989 It'll take 30 years depending on what guitar and what type of finish. Fender reissues have nitro finishes on them. I have a '62 Strat reissue with the nitro finish. I've only had it about 6 months and take very good care of my guitars but it's already showing signs of serious wear. I practice at least 4 hous a day and gig about twice a week with it. All I'm saying is that it has nothing to do with time kept, but time spent playing. Body chemistry also has a bit to do w/ it.

  • @MicMunk21 i totaly agree my sg standard is 6 months old and its wearing in nicely, but you do have to admit nitro does age alot faster than poly, and 30 years is about how long poly takes though. although when you can wear the nickle off of the bridge in 6 months thats a skill lol, i had chrome on an epi that came off within a year.

  • it looked so much better before

  • what not good to do? sorry about my english

  • Der labert stundenlang rum seine Git zu schrotten, dabei brauch er Gitarre nur ein paar mal in den Dreck zu schmeissen schon hat er das gleiche Ergebnis.

    So eine hohle Fritte :(

  • I found this harder to watch than Saw 3D. OH GOD NO

  • relicing a perfectly good looking guitar in my opinion is just like silly bands or justin beiber a waste of time and money and completely gayin up a cool thing

  • god you ruined a beautiful guitar

just because you damage it makes you think ur good?

  • I reckon reliced guitars look cool but you can tell when it has been done deliberately. Guitars deliberately damaged to get this effect look kinda stupid IMO. I was in a guitar shop yesterday where they had a couple of custom shop damaged strats. I honestly think that my Legend strat copy's damage looked better than the custom shop damage. Maybe because it gave it character to me because I caused most of the damage through accidents. Hey, it was my first guitar.

  • im a pro i just took a hammer to my 2 grand gibson i guess its worth much more now with 50 more dents in it

  • I don't think that i would relic my guitar. In my opinion the philosophy of "relic" is to be phisically by the time playing the guitar.

Sorry for my English I'm Greek.

  • IMO you wrecked a decent guitar- I could see sanding out the existing damage to look like wear, but what you did? That's nasty looking, and I'm pro-relic. I could see doing that to a $50 copy POS but not to a Fender Jaguar that you paid $500 for.

  • The god over the relic guitars is willie nelson

  • Looks great man. It takes alot of conviction to relic a $500 guitar. Once you start you can't go back. It paid off though! Don't listen to the haters.

  • dude, wtf?! do you really think i'm gonna mess my guitar up like that...?? go fuck yourself asshole!! i LOVE my guitar...!!!

  • ehh I wanted to relic mine and it looked good but I decided to paint it different, I've nevvver worked on a guitar or painted or anything before, right now I've got the whole thing apart and the body is all sanded down and its soo smooth, It was black but I don't know what color to go to from that.

  • This is the kind of person that would pay extra for that! LOL. What a world...........

  • Comment removed

  • You got to LOVE your guitar.....but TIME leaves scars.

  • it looks realy fucking bad man!

  • I FUCKED MY GUITAR, AND SO CAN YOU

  • @omermansur I CAN??? OMG!! THATS SOMTHING I WILL DEFFINITLY AVOID! :D

  • that doesnt look like a natural relic at all, is that even a proper finish or was it poly to begin with...damn..

  • Im sorry to say it doesn't look like somebody threw it around. It just looks like someone failed to fake :(

  • It's one of the most pointless things you can do with a guitar.

  • Nice Danelectro ;).

  • i would have swapped the pickguard before i did anything to that guitar O.o no bad though, im not a fan of relics but it looks decent

  • but, im sure he can do whatever he wants to his guitar because it is "His"

    great video man, looks good.

  • if you want a relic look just go play guitar outside a few times, and don't mind bringing a gig bag

  • stupid

  • Is that a Squier '51 in the background?

  • You purposely destroyed your guitar for the "relic" aesthetic? Wow.

  • im missing the point of this

  • Why Dont you just play more and let the wear come naturally. That is a relic. I mean really a hammer and screwdriver. Wow.

  • thanks but i like to take care my guitar

  • ey man would you hep me?

i change my pick up selector for 3 slider switches

and i have 3 pickups any help?

    im modding my strat

  • and the point is..... ur a douche bag for ruining a perfectly good guitar.

  • You absolute fucking mug, i cant believe you actually put a tutorial up about how to scratch paint.

  • you have squier 51 guitar in the back isnt it ? =)

  • I personally hate old looking guitar. I relic it the old fashioned way. I tend to wear jackets with zippers and it would rub against the paint (I play pretty up high). Right now on the back of my Yngwie Malmsteen original, it has a few sharp marks. My main guitar only has cracks on the side from dropping on stage. The fretboard has a huge dent from a music stand that fell on it. But it's going to be fixed by scalloping the neck.

  • You guys are all wrong. It is now a one of a kind, and secondly, most likely double it's value!!! Learn your stuff.....people will pay through the nose for a relic...natural, or factory made...look at the prices of some well known relics..then speak!!

  • Looks prty sweet bro. maybe take it to some shows and thrash around a bit. get some more relic goin. good vid!

  • whats the difference between a made in japan fender and a crafted in japan fender?

  • i plan on relicing my guitar ...my plan is to keep my guitar for 50 years, and let it get beat up natually like it should

  • looks like shit, congratulations, you destroyed a once-beautiful guitar

  • yeah you pretty much just ruined a beautiful guitar dude! What a waste

  • thats a beautiful guitar ur destroying

  • STUPID! your guitar was mutch cooler when it was new!

  • poly relics just don't right

  • What a fucking dumb ass thing to do to a guitar...
