Well alotta their songs had 2 guitar parts and when head left, munky had to handle all those parts by himself, granted it probably made him a better player but it presented a huge challenge I imagine... I would be pretty mad about that too wouldnt you?

@nomakills not knowing the name of every chord means you know nothing about music. I only know the names of a few chords, and when I'm playing with some guys, and I'll tell them what I'm playing, name each note on each string, and they'll say the actual name of the chord, I don't really care. If you can play it, and know when and where to play it, that's what matters.

There are plenty of other things that keep him away from Korn and I respect them. But, to say that "Head" doesn't play on making more music is like saying that the Sun isn't a star and we can live without it. It's just not possible. Music is apart of him... and he's damn good at making it :) His new album is amazing. Respect.

@mrdirtisbomb If you want a cheap (But very sweat) 7 string, go for the Ibanez RG7321. If you can afford something a bit more expensive, go for a higher range 7 string. I wouldn't recommend a 6 string if you're wanting to play Korn's songs/Style of music, 7 string will suit the low heavy crunch Korn have in there music multiple times better then a 6 string ever will. I'm not Munky obviously, but i hope this helped!

@svrox1 no, jus get a reg 6 string and tune it to DGCFAD and move the chords from low A to low D OR tune it all the way down to ADGCEA but use heavy gauge strings

You really oon't need a seven stringed guitar to play some of korns songs.

Songs like Right Now, Thoughtless, Blind , Coming Undone can be played on a six stringed, the seventh is just if you want that really dark and heavy sound.

Actually Munky also uses pedal Distortion. On the Original record he Head and Munky used the Big Muff distortion in Conjuntion with Boogie distortion. Munky uses pedal distortion for its mounted on his pedal board. Maybe not his Main tone but he uses it in conjuction of his tone or just by itself for a different tone. Some people don't know that but i read up on my KoRn lol. Now he uses the OutBox Fuzz in some parts. example: the OutBox is the intro to Here to Stay.

They use to use a Pro Co Rat pedal aswell. It's what gives Korn and Life Is Peachy that crunchy tone. They turn their gain all the way down too, so there's a slight bite to it.

@svrox1 technically yes you do. However you can play the heavy part if you tune down to the same tuning. REMEMBER though that you will have very floppy sounds as your guitar will not be setup to handle the low sound.

Thicker strings will help a little but this is a little ways down to tune for 6 strings.

yes you do. you need a seven string to sound remotly close to how the song is played. the reason being is you take away teh full element of the song. idealy you want the seven string. but i guess your question is can you play with a 6 string? yes you can but its not going to sound correct at all.
