alright guys before you go saying this a communist Chinese propaganda film, know that these guys depicted in the film were actually fighting for a democratic china. the democratic-communist civil war came after, about 40 so years after.

Its good to see the serious side of Jackie Chan, his hollywood films were becoming a waste of time .

Xinhai revolution. Its only semi important for the Communist party since the communists didnt come into control until 1949. But its still an interesting event. CCP is obviously running out of epics to write. They should probably do something post modernist or a futuristic sci fi.

Dear Youtubers, many of you are jackie fans which are cool, but the importance of this film goes beyond it being Jackie's 100th. The film revolves around the 1911 Revolution which Sun Yet Sun started to overthrow the Qing. It takes BALLS to overthrow a corrupt empire with Warlords to the North, Communists in South, 8 foreign countries with their teeth sunk in China's throat and the looming Japanese threat where their military is assuming control of their emperor so they can invade China later.

@youtu13ejunkie Japan is heavily promoted for this film as other nations which Sun Yet Sun had contact with. They have a lot of respect for Sun. Prior to Japanese military assuming ALL control of government which eventually invaded everyone, Sun was there as a diplomat and a student to study advancements in politics, weaponery, and other knowledge to help him make China better and defeat the Qing which was very corrupt under their last emperor Puyi, although Puyi is controlled by his mom.

@makantang It's a shame you've only seen jackie's pure comedic action movies. He's played a ton of roles that have a more serious tone(although he does love to make people laugh through pain :o). Good comparison is Jim Carrey everyone knows him as a funny dude but have you seen the number 23? It was something that I never thought Jim could pull off but he plays his character perfectly. That said Jackie is an actor and actors act whether it's comedy action thriller suspense. :p

Actually Republic of China (ROC) was founded from the Wuchang Uprising in 1911 not Xinhai Revolution. ROC was overthrown by a violent revolution by the Chinese Communist Party in 1949. The Qing were Manchus not Chinese but ruled China longer than any other dynasty.
