  • Hi Peggy, I am a big fan. I noticed how ever you use chi zao can and chi wu can. Although I more commonly hear from my Chinese friends chi zao fan or chi wu fan. Are can and fan the same? Is this more a regional thing?

    Thanks

  • Ha ha Peggy you are such a great actor as well as a great Lao shi too, I love it :)

  • @eph615 Thank you! Please help me share the video if you like it. :)

  • Hey Peggy, I accidentally came into this site & saw your lessons. You're such a great teacher. You can make things easy to learn. What part of China uses your language style? I know some very limited Chinese & I found you used different words from what I've learned; i.e., breakfast: You said "zaocan" & what I've learned is "zaofan" & some other stuff, too. Do Chinese people use different vocabulary in different parts of China? If so, it'll be difficult for me to communicate in China.

  • @XiangMian ni hao, thanks for the comment! The Mandarin I speak is regionally from Taiwan. However, in spite of some distinctions between the Mandarin spoken in China and Taiwan, they are mutually intelligible. As for the word "breakfast", we also use [早飯 - Zao3fan4] as well as [早餐 - Zao3can1]

  • @PeggyTeachesChinese Thanks for the clarification, Peggy. I'll try to keep up with your lessons as long as you are still offering them here. Once again, you are truly a wonderful teacher (ni zhen de shi ge hao de laoshi le)! I hope you are pursuing a teaching career.

  • @XiangMian Thank you for your nice comment and support! Please do check out other 80 videos too. I hope they would help you learn Mandarin. :*)

  • hey peggy i just started watching your videos yesterday and they're very good 你很利害! I have an intermediate level of chinese and i was trying to understand everything you said in the beginning of the video. I got "大家好。我是peggy。最近我怎么觉得好像有人在偷“ ?”我“?”。所以我决定好“?”相机一直都

    代“?”“?”边。如果那个“????”。看过“?””?“他".

Could you tell me the characters that i'm missing? 我就要说地道的中文. 谢谢帮我的忙peggy老师!

  • @thetimothyjr2155

Ni hao, the complete sentence goes as following:

"大家好 我是Peggy 最近我總覺得好像有人在偷窺我耶 所以我決定要把相機一直都帶在身邊 如果那個人又出現的話 看我可不可以抓到他 晚安!"

  • Heya peggy, I just wanted to voice my appreciation for all the effort you put into these videos. I have scoured the net for semi-decent jhongwen lessons and after coming up short on multiple occasions, these are proving really beneficial. Take care and good luck with your studies.

P.S: Loved the brando impression by the way lol.

  • I think you being chased by me cuz I needa learn more chinese =-o

This is first video I watched.. I'll be watching lots and lots more cuz I'm in love with chinese man <3 and his parents don't speak english -_-

I like how you give so much stuff to practice and really useful stuff!!!

  • @SilvDMama That's AWESOME! I hope my lessons would help! ;)

  • Ni hao piao liang peggy!!!

  • The stalker was okay. I liked the red effect a lot. I could have just watched you sleeping. The ending of that was perverted. The lesson part was real good. I'll look forward to more lessons, and if you make some more art, that'll be fun too.

  • @TheLonesomeEchoesite Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the video. :)

  • hi im peggy

  • very helpful.Thank you Xie Xie.

  • So I'm learning Chinese by myself, the 洗脸 (xi3 lian3) both are 3rd tone (falling then rising). When two 3rd tones are together, doesn't the first one become a rising tone, so it would be xi2 lian3? What happens when you have 3, 4, or more 3rd tones together??

  • @mamba109 all become rising tones except the last 3rd tone wo3 hen3 hao3 = wo2 hen2 hao3

  • wo zai zuo gongke. I can still use that for homework, right? That's what wo de laoshi taught me...

and fan instead of can for the meals. Those are right, yeah..?

  • Yes. Fan4 means 'rice' but since that's the staple of Chinese people so when say having a meal or eating, we would say 'chi1 fan4', literally means 'eat rice' but not necessarily.

As for 'can1', it means 'meal' too. For example, wan3 can1 = dinner

  • how come there is a 5 on 'me'? I thought there was only 4 tones! It might be a typo but that's fascinating :)

  • Yes, there are five tones in Mandarin.

The fifth tone is pronounced short and fast but the four tones are basically the main one.

You can head over to my very first video on tones in Mandarin Chinese. Jia You! ;)

  • Han gao hsin jen dao ni !!

  • Be careful 小心阿!

  • Ahhhhhhh So scary!

  • Although stalking is going too far, You have to say that its understandable. Some idots can't even talk to hot looking girls so thats the closest they can get by stalking them. My wife had a stalker too until he fell from the second story belcony.

  • Wow!

  • 我再看你!

  • 原來就是你!!!!! :D

  • 这次再很好工作, 还有妳外表那么美丽;}

  • 謝謝你唷! :*)

  • also, everyone in taiwan says "do homework" as xie gong ke.... am I wrong? what' s the difference?

    oh yeah... great screaming!!!!

  • xie - write

    'gong1 ke4' is another word for 'zuo4 ye4' - homework

Therefore doing homework, you can say:

    xie3 gong1ke4

    xie3 zuo4 ye4

    zuo4 gong1ke4

    zuo4 zuo4 ye4

  • wo zai zuo ai!!! well not this very moment....

good video. who is your productions crew? why no credits for them? maybe that's who you're running from?....

oh, btw.... typo at end of skit: subscribe reads

    "subscirbe"

  • 真好玩這一片影片.謝謝

  • AWSOME! I can always count on you Peggy to make a great video.

  • xie xie ni for watching. :)

  • even without make u are so sexy !!!

  • without sheme?

  • Sorry. Here it is:

    你在做 什么? (traditional: 你在做 甚麼?)

    Vs.

    你在作什么? (traditional: 你在作甚麼? )

My principal concern is my writing will confuse people.

  • no. I'm sorry but after you xi zao you don't have to put on clothes. You are so hot. Feichang xinggan. Ni de jingli Ni de gexing Ni de shencai. Wo dou xihuan. Buxing woman dagai conglai bu jianmian. Wo zhu ni hao yun. Ni de xiaopian hen haowan a!!

  • I need to find your first video!

  • Peggy老师,

I have a question. In written Chinese, the verb zuo4 ("do"), would it matter if I write "作" vs. "做? For example 你在做。。。 vs. 你在作。。。

    Thank you,

    Cali
