after years of hearing the italian version i thought that the french wouldn't have anything new to show me, i was so wrong this is a complete diferent opera!!!

if you are an opera fan you must buy this dvd!!! the cast is unbelievable. Alagna never sounded better!!!

I was trying to figure out when he changed the way he used to sing. Here he sounds so great as he did in so many other roles. Here in 1996 he sounded as a God. Unfortunaly the same can not be said for the later years
I saw this entire DVD, and the singing is terrific. Hampson is unsurpassed as Posa. Sometimes you have to close your eyes, though, because of the freakish visuals.
Hampson and Alagna have terrific chemistry, much more so than Alagna and Mattila, who looks like she could eat the smaller Roberto in one bite.

This is my favorite Roberto Alagna role. He's brilliant. Very sensitive. Thomas Hampson. Wish there was more of him on DVD. Lovely.
