you are tottaly wright my friend... i loved that game when it was released years ago...but one serious problem with this game is exactly what you are saying...to much understeer and not at all oversteer...the pure fun when your playing with a force feedback wheel is exactly the oversteering effect..and although they made a great game..they ruined it with that lack of oversteering..

Nice video man, wish more people would realize how pitiful gran turismo's physics really are. If you haven't tried them, give Live for speed, GTR-2, Rfactor, or Richard Burns Rally a try. They are some great sim's, but the engines are a bit old now. Still better than Turismo's physics though. Turismo seems to just try and add some of the "Characteristics" of the real cars to the sim ones, but often exaggerates it by a lot. The Ford GT is a huge example in prologue. Oversteer to insanity...

I can agree that GT4 has fake driving physics, but as a Subaru fan, I have to clear up some things...

Subaru's AWD system isn't a conventional AWD system. Just like the ATTESA system on a GT-R, it is longitudinally mounted engine. It is NOT based off of a conventional FWD system like a Lancer Evolution. So before you dare say it's FWD-based, consider how similar the ATTESA is to Subaru's Symmetrical AWD.

However, as for understeer, there are more factors than just the drivetrain...

@saro761 sorry for late reply. In terms of donuts and power oversteer, GT2 wins hands down. But for understeer GT4 does a better job representing it but for most cars the understeer representation is overkill (too much).

But I think both games have ABS that can't be switched off.

maybe if you were driving it in manual and downshifting it would do what you want it to.

man. as soon as i borght gran turismo 4 i traded it in for ridge racer 5. gran turismo 4 sucks. they want down hill after gran turismo 2. gran turismo 2 was the best gran turismo. and ridge racer is also a good game very easy to control some cars round corners but that depends on what car you choose but ridge racer had a awesome soundtrack aswell and it was a fun game all round once you got used to the handling of the cars

yea GT4 is not as joyous to drift as in gt2, and the lack of car descriptions is cheap. I might give RR5 a go.

Do you live in Sweden?  I had a 240TIC, but I understeered it onto a kerb. Now I'm left with a 760T.

Yes i live in sweden.. theyr cheep as hell here.. not to common as you would think.

but theyr good cars for the moneys worth and quite durable.. i had a Volvo 244gl just as a banger.. atleast 45% of my hoses under the bonet was regular garden or some other hose looking thing lol =]]

Did you see my 244? the car at the end of this vid is a 760, which feels much lighter constructed, especially when you slam the doors. I burned a lot of rubber with it in winter though.

lol when you turn u brake realease turn and accel, you do that for grip racing too. But how you brake, release, turn, and accel will affect whether you understeer or oversteer.

Sorry for not making this clear enough for some, when I said the attesa 4wd combined with 4was hurls the car into oversteer. I'm assuming you understand the basic procedures of making a turn. Brake, release, turn then accel. It's the accel that provokes the attesa 4wd to give the oversteer u see in the beginning

thx for comment driftoner, u can still force gtr to drift if you use slippery tyres on the back, but it'll be silly and messy and won't be any different to a FF based 4wd like WRX. I tried enthusia, and the GTR still can't power oversteer although you can lift off oversteer
