  • My brain is filled with at least 8 kinds of fuck.

  • Fuck retro anything.

    Fuck your tattoos.

    Fuck all you junkies and

    Fuck your short memory.

  • @MrBlackred47 Wow, someone has a bit o' misplaced hatred... ;)

  • WOW Sicc song... and completely incredible video.

  • How the hell did they tell the animator how he was going to do the video?! :>

  • @95Strandberg well Adam Jones directed it, as he does all their videos..

  • @ConfuciousCarter But he did not animate it xD I mean how do you show the animator that he is going to create this :p

  • "eye" love it (i know, i know, I'm so clever)

  • @KoReVietkong Raw genius!, why are you not the top rated commentator?

  • tool is fucking BEAST

  • WOW?!....I'VE NOT SEEN THIS VERSION BEFORE....UGH ...I COULD KICK MY ASS FOR THIS...

  • Just wanted to give a piece of advice to the OP. Great video, best quality on Youtube, but it doesn't appear on the first page for people typing in simply "tool vicarious video". I think it has something to do with the order of the tags. I would put the word video first, it should appear to more people that way because everyone deserves to hear the great quality version you uploaded! Cheers bro.

  • Dude I wonder if that is what it looks like on the inside of my head too!

  • Listen to this while Kenjutsu training. Start of slow like Ti chi with a sword. 1:39 Just break into fast and aggressive movements 4:19 battle meditation. 7:27 Unleash the pent up wraith of the previous 3 minutes.

  • this video is sooo trippy to watch when you are high!

  • @ultimatum909 heh it's trippy to watch sober too

  • By far the best video I've ever seen.

  • incredible song and an amazing music video

  • beavis and butt head need to have this video on their show

  • I used to not listen to tool. Then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • @OtherSideOfArgument LOL even tool videos!

  • Man, I hate when fleas crawl on my face and flying eyeballs hatch from them. Don't you?

  • love this video

  • it's actually "neither the brave or bold nor brightest of stories told"..

  • @zendetta424 its not "write as the storie's told?"

  • @jonnylee5000 meh, don't matter actually. Unless you're the writer of the song, everyone is gonna hear something a little different. I checked 5 websites, and none had the same thing... :)

  • If there's anything greater than this I do not want to hear it :P

  • the person below me is lame \/

  • I gain something positive everytime I listen to Tool.

  • i feel smart when im listning to tool. idk why lol

  • @stardog2007 bad troll, bad troll

  • that feeling where your senses implode, and you cross over..

  • Really? No 1080?

  • @liquidflux I agree...but with tool videos its probably for the best..otherwise our heads would implode and we'd have to live like this forever (but whos saying thats a bad thing) lol = )

  • meaning of the song

    ?

  • @BacalhaupVz Take some dmt and you'll understand.

  • @BacalhaupVz How people lust for death as voyeurs

  • i think the flying dildos that come out of his eyes represent the watcher (you and I) and the eyes themselves represent televisions and the dildos, after watching for so long go out to see what is really happening, past the TV's limit and the flea represents the media makeing the good bad and visa versa and basicly just being an annoying fuck

  • Cool video

  • "CUZ I NEED TO WATCH THINGS DIE!!!"

wtf, really? come one, name one verse in a rock song thats harder than that and brings as much emotional energy. love this shit, tool for life

  • I am happy to see our Music reaching the younger generations!

  • 420k views! WOOHOO

  • spaccano il culo.

  • When I like to trip balls I watch tool videos.

  • ok tool is trippy as shit, all their videos r freaky as hell O.o. amazing music but damnit they scare me lol

  • @no1scoobyfan fuck dude, i once had a tool trip where i was becoming a god and aware of all the knowledge in the universe . . . that was freaky as shit lmao especially since the tool song was playing in my head

  • the lyrics have pretty obvious meaning but the film clip doesn't make sense to me.. I just can't help but think that they shoulda made this clip for a different song

  • @Zee96969696 i always thought it was about death and rebirth onto a higher conciousness

  • @nicvaco no, it's about living vicariously... we as people live vicariously very often when we watch tv and dream and imagine stuff...

  • @Zee96969696 the lyrics yes, but i was referring to the video. Of course, by watching the character's death, they are implying the vicarious experience.

  • @nicvaco well, the fan made video clip for vicarious makes alot more sense in my opinion. but even though this video clip is pretty good, I still don't think it fits the song... I still feel like the lirics say one thing and the video is just about something else, they shoulda made this video for a different song... but it's their art and who am I to tell them how to do it. I like artists who don't listen to anyone and do what they think is right, so I hav respect for tool in that regard

  • @Zee96969696 I know what you're saying, and I do agree overall. The lyrics are much more specific than the video. I guess it could be argued that the lyrics are only 25% of the the song, and that the video was perhaps meant to correspond to what Danny, Adam and Justin were trying to say when they wrote the music.

I agree totally, tho: they have so much respect because they do what they want. they have hit a fine line between commercialism and artistic expression.

  • Pure musical perfection..

    Gives me goosebumps

    Leaves me speechless.

  • devour to survive

  • holy fukballs... wonders like Tool will never cease to amaze...... fukn beautiful... thank u

  • wow.

  • great song

  • this video is a veeeery big trip

  • drummer does awesome work

  • i think he is addicted to eyes

  • Tool is the best band of all time.

Btw, there're little Voldemorts in video :D

  • why don't they just put dancing girls in the video?

  • I think you need to be high to watch this haha

  • @89foofighter watching this creates "high"

  • id love to watch this when im high

  • "cause i need to watch things die!"

one of the best prog songs ever. i don`t listen much to prog, but i know definetly know that for sure :)

  • @grindmaggots666 Check out their song 46 & 2. Its just as good.

  • Reminds me of Resident Evil 5 o_O

  • @AnonymousAnimus I so agree! I like Perfect Circle and I love Puscifer....but Tool is my one true love

  • Tool come back I need your lyrics in my life!!!

  • Like the improved sound quality :)

  • Tool Greatest Band EVER.......enough said

  • This is my tool against TV !

MrBiffi. quote that bitches. high five.

  • @MrBiffi bro fist?

  • i love tool

  • Tool is cool

  • praise be to Tool. in their infinite conception, let another record of wisdom and song be born.

  • Even with LSD you cant see those things.. :P

  • power of art manifested

  • Ever been stuck in a traffic jam, cause everyone going your direction has slowed down to check out the wreck going the other way?

  • To me, this video truly seems like, he's discovered the outside world finally, and he feels that, when he finally comes out to see how it is, everything starts to die, and fall apart while he sits alone, watching it from "a good safe distance" because he's always lived that cozy life of a shut it. I feel as if the worm snake thingys, are his inner souls, and the baby in his mind would be him being reborn after the demolition.

  • @LeanLykaScene *shut in*

  • I personally rather enjoy everyone pouring there true thoughts about this songs meaning, or the videos meaning into comments. Tool brings out the Badass in everyone.

  • love this song....helps the mood im in

  • greatest chorus line of any rock song ever made:

CUZ I NEED TO WATCH THINGS DIE!!!!!

if that dosent pump you up, you need to see a doctor because youre dead inside

  • the single greatest chorus line of any rock song ever made:

CUZ I NEED TO WATCH THINGS DIE!!!!!!

if that dosent pump you up, you are dead inside and should see a doctor

  • 41 people are going to have snake things come out of their eyes

  • He seems very artistically involved with his music..

  • @mojonm -- I think Adam the guitarist still does all the art & video work

  • i got a chance to non directly meet maynard at a wine bottle signing in boston. he asked everyone to not take his picture and made little eye contact with people. when i stepped up to grab my bottle he looked at me and i swear...i fucking swear for 3 seconds, i felt enlightened. the guy is so fucking gifted it just radiates from him.

  • yep, again..... just got mind fucked by tool. the ability to sum it all up in 9 mins, i wish it went for longer, i wish every one in this fucked up world was tied to a chair and made to watch and listen to this, and maybee, just fucking maybee it would get through to us fucking simple materialistic misguided creatures, peace

  • listening to tool makes you smarter. like classical. they encode all kinds of hidden shit in their tunes. message to the masses, gift to the acolytes. catalyst for your soul.

  • maybe a bit disgusting, but nice

  • I think outside the Universe is at 6:22

  • @Jar3D226 nah, I think it's all about evolution.

How that thing(soul?) sees the universe as hostile so only the most negative traits are enhanced which effects our perception/desires. That's why you see it burrow into that fireball(egg) which explodes into the guy's head.

The universe/ecology shapes evolution which determines the perception/desires of the living. Then at the end you see that the earth has a sort of iris; which implies that if the earth itself where a living organism -

  • @MrTripi it would then see the universe through "our" eyes.

  • @MrTripi i cant see the universe. im human, so only a microcosm during my lifetime. tool is not to be defined. to do so invites heresy.

  • I am so stupid. Been listening to this song for years, and just NOW i understand what the point is. ah... *shamed*

  • speechless, truly the best music video i have ever seen hands down

  • Im so happy they put Alex Grey's "Net of Being" in the video. Damn necessity!

  • 40 people have no soul

  • This was fucking amazing. How did I not find this video before the one with the stripping obese woman?

  • Love it i don't care if i ever understand it just fucking amazing

  • @Randyalsons you should really look up the lyrics, it's amazing. it's about how people love to safely (from their homes) watch death and tragedy on t.v.

  • So let me be one of the few tool fans to admit than I understand the song but not the video. Would anyone care to explain to me how they relate?

  • @Freeloadingoffayou I dont get the relation of lyrics and video as well. Guess its bit arbitrary. I find the lyrics somewhat bellow the average, not really interesting with almost no or just vague connection to visual part. On the other hand whoever made the clip has done a nice job. In my opinion video is an attempt of a description of a cetrain probable acpects of incerasing ones awareness of the nature the world and so on along the way of ones life.

  • @drevikov Probable because these things may differ person to person but certain milestones are usually typical. Begins with realising ones position in the world, illusory nature of fenomenal manifestation within consciousness, elusive nature of subject (black sun), presence of cognitive faculties of the mind (the flee), inevitable death (tentacled octopuss or what).

  • @drevikov Along the way one precises the means of knowing the world. Gets this minds eye, realises mutli-layeredness of things, gets to understand position of his incarnate self in larger framework of the existence. Red world at the end is Alex Greys depiction of a certain view on the universal structure of things from antropocentric perspective.

  • @drevikov Dont know if there is any official explanation for it, but the sense it makes to me is that its characterstics are: infinite self-immersed nature where each part leads again to the whole (the galaxies all around), awareness (the eyes all around), it can be vaguely personified (red head) though i think this is case of personal inclination (not that it would be wrong), yellow flaming globes i guess could be personal universa of individual incarnations.

  • @drevikov When one goes through number of incarnations one may eventually realise this nature of things (ghost eventually peeking in the fire globe). This knowledge realised within the incarnation (flaming hand getting through the eye back to the mind of the person realising it) collapses fixed importance of illusory appearances (shattering glass),

  • @drevikov its somewhat incomprehensible for the intellect (flee burning), reveals death as illusory (octopus falling to the ground), at the same time reveals fundamental nothingness/void as the root of all existence (wolrd swirling to black), it deconstructs ones identity with incarnate body/mind structures (skeleton decomposing). In the end one becomes literaly world seeing world.

  • @drevikov i like tool

  • @drevikov i think its about kick ass music

  • @drevikov they have said in interviews that the videos don't necessarily go with the lyrics. Maynard's lyrics are one interpretation of the sounds and since Adam is the art director, his visuals can be a completely different interpretation of the sounds.

  • @Freeloadingoffayou I wish I could, but @ the end, the vortex looks like an eye on the world, and the insect opened the humans eyes, I don't know, but that's my guess.

  • I smoked salvia once and had a very similar experience of what's happening in the video. especially the multi-cosmic-face being and the things with the eyes at the beginning. before i had seen the video. coincidence? i think not.

  • i love how tool fans think their somehow above the "distracted masses" just cause they listen to complicated music. you know how many rap fans work for indepentant media and are more enlightened that you douches will ever be. not saying i hate tool i love them but...anyone who thinks their better than everyone else needs to go fuck a hornets nest.

  • @fishyfish420 yeah wathever....we need the new album! excellent vid and track and lyrics!

  • funny to see now everybody likes the lyrics and talks about the lyrics just because they are written under the video.... in no other song of tool you talk about the lyrics..

start hearing what they sing!!! not just reading what there is written

  • Why does everyone have to be the one that's rite? Can't we sit and listen to the damn song like civil people rather than trying to push you opinion on everybody? Everybody has their own views on life, enjoy it the way you want and not the way you are told.

  • If I were a WWE wrestler, I would use this song as my soundtrack.

  • wow...just wow-..

  • Watching this next time i get high.

  • FUCCKKKK!! very deviant video!!!

  • My philosophy:

If you want to train your body, go to the gym.

If you want to train your mind, listen to Tool.

  • @goodninji8 I think your mind would be better served by philosophy, but Tool is certainly a good supplement.

  • Well, this IS better than listening to a bunch of really intelligent douche bags talking about things like,

"How do you figure out the meaning of life? You can't figure out the meaning of life unless you know you've figured out your purpose on this planet."

    Am I right?

    @Cosuin

  • @goodninji8 if you want to train both...do nothing

  • @goodninji8 I do both at the same time ;)

  • @goodninji8 Great fuking philosophy!

  • @goodninji8 and If you want to train your penis, watch 'Kitten Porn"

  • @goodninji8 Love that, dude.

  • Comment removed

  • @goodninji8 I do both almost every day xD

  • @goodninji8 you must of been high

  • @goodninji8 I completely agree. I was an English major in college, and I love poetry...it's my forte, actually...and as far as I'm concerned, Maynard James Keenan (I will not be as specific as to say Tool) is one of the few poets left in the music industry.

  • @goodninji8 He is the modern Ginsberg...saying what we need to hear, but saying it in the manner in which we need to hear it...we need to be angry at ourselves, otherwise how will we move to change? He is a poet and a prophet...he knows society as he knows himself, and he knows himself as he knows his place in society...That is what makes him beautiful, boith as a person and as a singer...

  • @goodninji8 You want to train your body and mind, find a good martial arts instructor and go to the gym and listen to Tool

    you'll be superhuman

  • @goodninji8 Im listening to Tool when im in the gym :P

  • @goodninji8 Im listening to Tool when im in the gym :P

  • @goodninji8 Hey I am going to steal this Tool is my absolute favorite band in the world

  • Fucking amazing video.

  • 2000th like ^.^

  • please gd tell me what this music video means? its so wired

    amazing song tho

  • This song reminds me of Frankenstein, the book.

  • Can you imagine seeing Tool And Mastodon together? That'd be great!

  • this music is so damn good, no message is needed. TOOL FOREVER.

  • 39 people are... wait.. i'm not a loser

  • @Svartljus You not funny either

  • @alubitchescrol I know :'(

  • @Svartljus ok.. I was expecting something more agressive so we can start swearing while hiding behind our pc like all those mucho men are doing, but it seems like SOMEONE is not up for it.. "I know" and a cry face is not gona do the trick man! Try smthing more aggresive like "Fuck off dude! Iam funny!" and then i go like "Shut up man! Look at you, talkin shit abt tool.. my favourite band of all times.. Show some respect!"

  • @alubitchescrol (as you wish my good sir) Bitch fuck you! I am funny! GO back and listen to your Justin Bieber you fuckin twat

  • it isnt hq -.-

  • search sigmund Freud while listening to this song

  • The glasses from the CD and DVD just make me see the video in double and gives me a headache.

  • tool is kick ass, bitch.

  • That place looks scary, with all those heads and fireballs and eyes looking everywhere.

I think i would rather be reincarnated as a cat and come back to earth.

  • Comment removed

  • HIS NAME IS ROBERT PULSON

  • The worm thingys remind me of the ghosts from Spirted Away. :D

  • um. The video is trying to propose a theory on the structure of the universe, and how all things follow the same model, no matter how large or small.. (infinitely large within, and without)

  • these lyrics are so true i want to tatoo them to my penis...

  • this video gave me 8 boners :/

  • WOW,i mean, fucking WOW not only for the artistic music TOOL produce, but for their such creative videos. Such imagination and thought. Why the fuck do morons watch rappers being fags in front of a camera?. Oh i just answered my own question because they are fucking morons...........

  • @Brikkyz I was about to give you a thumbs up until you started bashing rappers and the liseners of rap for liking rap. Like you are a better person for lisening more complicated music -.-

  • @Brikkyz Because some people just don't like Tool's MUSIC...the most important part.

  • @Brikkyz People dont want to hear good meaningfull, tallented music any more, its a fact. The masses are to distracted by the bullshit fed to them by the media, no time for philisopical questions or free thought.

  • @Brikkyz Why do morons complain about other types of music just because they don't understand it. Enjoy tool enough with the rap bashing... Tool doesn't like it maynard told me so.

  • @Dr990 pwnd

  • @Brikkyz You don't need others approval to feel secure about what you're doing. You're the writer not anyone else.

  • @Brikkyz People are moulded from their up bringing, surroundings and role models in life.
