@caramelhiggens You said that non of their top 15 songs were ripped off from anyone else. well off your list of 15, right off the top of my head i can tell you that "Whole Lotta Love" is a rip off of "you need love" by Willie Dixon and Stairway to Heaven is a rip off of "Taurus" by Spirit. so I just proved you wrong off the top of my head...and thats using YOUR OWN LIST of their top 15 . Imagine if i did some research. Zep was a great band.. but realize they ripped ALOT of material off others
@pmdnyc I just posted a TON of stuff that Zep ripped off from others...youtube the originals and see what I mean. I love Zep, but please dont criticize others for doing covers of their songs. at least the Pilots gave Zep credit. Zep did not until they were sued
@pmdnyc A lot of songs may sound similar, because notes may be arranged close to the same. Being close isn't ripping off. However, "sampling" in this modern-day crap they pass off as music, IS ripping off. Anyone can get a computer a do some sampling, no one can pick up an instrument for the first time and play a song.
@Bawbster1 I agree totally about todays stuff..and as I said before I loved the way Zep took old blues tunes and made them great rock songs...but that does not change the fact that they indeed use others material without crediting them or getting permission. and that, my friend, IS ripping off someone elses music.
@caramelhiggens And by the way, Whole Lotta Love was released as a single...in fact it was that song that knocked " HEY JUDE by The Beatles off the top spot in 1969. and WHOLE LOTTA LOVE was a rip off of a Willie Dixon song...again i say to you look it up...just dont spout thoughts . Just because you wish it to be so does not mean you can say it is so if its not true.
@caramelhiggens Wow. You are dumb. I guess you dont consider "Whole lotta love" as one of their top 15. or Dazed and Confused. Or Stairway to Heaven. or many others. It is clear you are probably a 15 yr old kid who is just discovering Rok for the first time so I will excuse your ignorance. You will learn. In the meantime I will not bother bantering back and forth with an obviously misinformed moron. Go do your homework . You dont wanna end up in summer school
@caramelhiggens No actually, They were not legal covers. look it up. Led Zeppelin was sued 17 times for covering songs without permission. Most lawsuits were settled out of court... with Zeppelin forking over a few years royalties and posting credits on new pressing of albums/cds. This is why if you get an original release of Zep I, Zep II Zep III or the Zoso album you see a different set of credits than you do if you buy it today. Before you call someone 'Idiot" know what you are talking about
@caramelhiggens I am big Zeppelin fan..saw them in 1973 and 1977...and also saw Page and Plant twice. But to say they didnt copy other peoples music, well you dont know what you are talking about. Whole lotta love, dazed and confused, babe im gonna leave you, and quite a few others are old blues tunes that they changed a bit and covered. Look it up.
@dissident93 I agree totally...I love the band and they way they covered great blues tunes..My point was that People here are criticizing the Pilots for covering a Zep tune...people in glass houses should not throw stones.
@pmdnyc its true Zep took a lot of old blues songs...but to say changed "a bit" is wrong. The songs are almost completley different, except lyrics...i was never a fan of robert plants lyrics anyways. Zep borrows a lot, its true, but the tune that would come out of it would be almost entirley different.
@pmdnyc And i agreed with that. But if you kept reading, i continued to say the tune, ie the instrumentation Is completley different. the controversy over zep's plagorism is robert plants fault. Jimmy Page even said it in an interview in the 90's, that much of it came from plants unauthentic lyrics.
@saraibewildered First of all, it is spelled "ZEPPELIN"...and ..people here are complaining about STP covering a Zep song..People in glass houses should not throw stones. At least the pilots did not try to pass it off as their own composition. You are probably not an artist, or you would understand how wrong it is to take someones creative work and pass it off as your own
I, for one, love covers, if they are done with complete respect for the original and done well...as in the case of this STP cover of this Zep great...you guys should check out Pearl Jam doing Who covers for example..My two cents..
It's so funny because this actually sounds like it'd be a Stone Temple Pilots song instead of a Led Zeppelin song. They did an absolutely awesome job of covering it.
@MasteroChieftan YES IT DOES. As a rule: I hate covers but this almost sounds more STP than Led Zeppelin. I think this sounds more polished (good) but maybe a bit deliberate sounding.
Dunno if that makes sense but this is one cover I DO like.
What STP did here is pretty much what a brazilian singer (Rita Lee) did recording Beatles with bossanova arrangements. The old trick of slowing the pace, nothing more.
Very nice! I'm trippin balls right now so when the music hits me, it hits me. Constructive critisism ( I can't spell).. I don't care much for the vocals. Not a lot of power in it, it's too soft. But that's just my opinion. You do have a nice voice tho.
@ToolandRushfan You're gonna disagree with me honestly, but I didn't like that cover. The original No Quarter was just that fucking good. They shoulda picked something else to cover!
Zeppelin is better 9 out of 10 they are covered. As a hardcore Zep fan, this isn't one of those times.

In the meantime I will not bother bantering back and forth with an obviously misinformed moron. Go do your homework . You dont wanna end up in summer school
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@caramelhiggens If they didnt have to do it, why did they make a CAREER of doing it?
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@caramelhiggens No actually, They were not legal covers. look it up. Led Zeppelin was sued 17 times for covering songs without permission. Most lawsuits were settled out of court... with Zeppelin forking over a few years royalties and posting credits on new pressing of albums/cds. This is why if you get an original release of Zep I, Zep II Zep III or the Zoso album you see a different set of credits than you do if you buy it today. Before you call someone 'Idiot" know what you are talking about
pmdnyc 9 months ago
This might be the only goo Led Zeppelin cover I've ever heard.

@caramelhiggens Try looking this up on youtube.....LED ZEPPELIN EXAMPLES OF PLAGIARISM
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@caramelhiggens I am big Zeppelin fan..saw them in 1973 and 1977...and also saw Page and Plant twice. But to say they didnt copy other peoples music, well you dont know what you are talking about. Whole lotta love, dazed and confused, babe im gonna leave you, and quite a few others are old blues tunes that they changed a bit and covered. Look it up.
pmdnyc 9 months ago 2
@pmdnyc I know they did plagiarize some, and although not my favorite band, they did have some good tunes.
Like this one. haha
dissident93 9 months ago
@dissident93 I agree totally...I love the band and they way they covered great blues tunes..My point was that People here are criticizing the Pilots for covering a Zep tune...people in glass houses should not throw stones.
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@pmdnyc Yep.
dissident93 9 months ago
@pmdnyc its true Zep took a lot of old blues songs...but to say changed "a bit" is wrong. The songs are almost completley different, except lyrics...i was never a fan of robert plants lyrics anyways. Zep borrows a lot, its true, but the tune that would come out of it would be almost entirley different.
NabeeltheRealDeal 9 months ago
@NabeeltheRealDeal Do you realize what you just said? the song is different..except the lyrics...LMAO!!!! THATS STEALING THE SONG!!!!!!!!
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@pmdnyc And i agreed with that. But if you kept reading, i continued to say the tune, ie the instrumentation Is completley different. the controversy over zep's plagorism is robert plants fault. Jimmy Page even said it in an interview in the 90's, that much of it came from plants unauthentic lyrics.
NabeeltheRealDeal 9 months ago
@pmdnyc it ain't like artists never steal songs. Haha, Led Zepplien stole songs too in their day. LMAO. so?!
saraibewildered 9 months ago
@saraibewildered First of all, it is spelled "ZEPPELIN"...and ..people here are complaining about STP covering a Zep song..People in glass houses should not throw stones. At least the pilots did not try to pass it off as their own composition. You are probably not an artist, or you would understand how wrong it is to take someones creative work and pass it off as your own
pmdnyc 9 months ago
@pmdnyc hahaha, hotttt fudge, me likey. simmer down damn. just saw them 2 nights ago, and they killed it =) BTW I am an artist.

My two favorite bands :)
MasteroChieftan 10 months ago 66
@MasteroChieftan YES IT DOES. As a rule: I hate covers but this almost sounds more STP than Led Zeppelin. I think this sounds more polished (good) but maybe a bit deliberate sounding.
Dunno if that makes sense but this is one cover I DO like.
SynerG4ce 10 months ago
@MasteroChieftan That may be partly because STP were so influenced by Zep. Great cover.
robbiecass 10 months ago
@MasteroChieftan you know you're right haha the chorus is very modern sounding
noobpowner901 10 months ago
@MasteroChieftan I totally see what ya mean !! I often thought if Led Zepplin existed in the 90's they would have sounded a lot like S-T-P ;-)

What STP did here is pretty much what a brazilian singer (Rita Lee) did recording Beatles with bossanova arrangements. The old trick of slowing the pace, nothing more.

I love it when I discover a song I love is actually a cover! I love Led Zeppelin but I have to admit I did not know this was their song. Cool.
assmane999 11 months ago
Very nice! I'm trippin balls right now so when the music hits me, it hits me. Constructive critisism ( I can't spell).. I don't care much for the vocals. Not a lot of power in it, it's too soft. But that's just my opinion. You do have a nice voice tho.
saulhudson420 11 months ago
@saulhudson420: I think the vocals are restrained on purpose and I love it all. It`s perfect.
