I think what I love most about the song is the rather overt Russian folk song feel to it. I think it makes it intimate to the listener, unforgettable and ultimately timeless. Yep, the genius of Kate. And as others have said, you sound a lot like her...which I know had to be the product of many many hours of practice and careful listening (it shows!).

I don't think it sounds Celtic, but it does have a Russian flavour (not your version, but Kate's) because of the little tune Paddy Bush plays over and over on the mandolin. It suggests the sound of a balalaika.
