iClone is a 3D real time animation software. It's $199 for Pro version. If you like to create 3D animation film and you don't have the background of 3D tool, iClone is a good start for you.

The jerky movements do remind me of a PS1 game's cutscenes, but this can be created in real time, not over a period of months. I think programmed AI and attributes is the future of 3d, this is just the first step.
