I agree, it was horrifying. And to boot she had been left in a pasture with 2 stallions. I don't understand why people can neglect horses either, it is a shame, she was so beautiful and had a wonderful personality. We could not let her go on living in so much pain. We had to keep her heavily medicated while she was with us because of how bad her knee was, plus her hooves were also messed up pretty good.
There were several horses that turned out to be big successes. She was just one of the few unfortunate souls that were treated so badly that the damage done to her body was just too much for her. We had to keep her and a couple others heavily medicated for pain until we could have them humanely euthanized.
This horse was part of a police impound. She was not my personal horse. Her hooves were over grown because she wasn't given proper farrier care. Sadly some of the other horses from this impound had hooves that were much worse.

She foundered so badly that her coffin bone had rotated through the bottom of her hoof, she was humanely euthanized.
