So it's less terror and more of a misunderstanding with a woman who doesn't know how to deal with rejection. (Sorry if that sounded sexist, I didn't mean it to.)
Obviously they don't know what carbon dating means. A statute from 5200 would NOT have more carbon 14! The dating starts from the date it's made and then its decay from that point. Therefore, carbon dating doesn't tell how far into the future something is made.
Was Pearl's speech at the end of the episode taken mostly from the speech at the end of The Being From Another Planet, also featured on MST? It sounds oddly familiar.
@xservox I think it was A Captain Kirk like speech. They like to have him spout out things like that. I don't think it is word for word anyone of them though.
I don't want to nit pick, but I don't think you can carbon date things for the future. I don't think this movie science holds up. This movie should take science tips from better films like Danger: Death Ray or It Lives By Night.
The plot hole that bothers me the most is that if the wort hog faced terror from the year 5000 knew from history that the women from that time stood idly by while the world went to poopie, then why did she not know, through history, that Latin was a dead language then??
This bothers me more than the negative number Dr. Hedges got from the carbon dating results.
@TheGelment Yeah, Greek and Latin are completely different languages. The Greek alphabet was the first language created in Ancient Greece in 1425-1375 BC as prescribed on the Liner B clay tablets of Crete and is still used a little in modern Greece. Latin evolved around the 7th century BC from the Cumae alphabet, a variant of the Greek alphabet used in the colony of Cumae in Southern Italy and was used extensively by the Romans
@BoBsPfhorever77 er... not tom, but crow is the main observer and mike steps in as one of the observers from time to time. tom servo is the monkey guy
@vilkomen If you haven't heard KM's "Tribute to Tibby" song from Gamera (1st movie) check that one out. KM has a voice that will bring a tear to the eye.
@vilkomen Remember Escape 2000, the "Seperate Ways" thing at the end credits of the movie? So awesome! I found out about that song from that joke. :-)
@JoystixMusic Seriously, lmao, me too. I was never really into that genre, but I was surfing the radio a few weeks back and heard "someday love will find you, break those chains that biiiind you" I nearly lost it, seriously, I sang it just like the Escape 2000 credits and was in tears by the time I was done...lol Servo makes all songs great! (good thing I was alone in the car though, eh?)

Odd little connection in this movie. Both Dr. Flattop and the Terror woman will later be in Star Trek TNG episodes.

@TheGelment Well, it wasn't latin, it was Greek. Greek might still be used in the future I guess, but that doesn't make the film any more coherent.

Lol, this must have been made before history was invented.
"Throughout human history, what has been the first activity of explorers of any new region?"
"Genocide?"
"Slavery?"
"Diseased blanket spreading?"
"No Bob, barter"
Ironic that a horror movie would paint a pretty picture of something so dark.
