  • Mark Brzezicki on the skins!! Makes Phildo Collins look like a washed up drummer for a High School marching band !!

  • Yes Mick Karn on bass- fabulously talented guy

its a tragedy that he has died at the start of January -only 52

    RIP Mick

  • Yep, that was our good old Mick, RIP.

  • Waow, fantastic ! it's a pleasure to listen to Howard Jones with real musicians and not only machines as usually !

  • mick looks like a zombie because he doesn't have eyebrows at this time. he'd seen peter gabriel after the "lambs lie down on broadway" tour (gabriel had shaved a chunk of hair from the middle of his hair ) and thought "i can one up that". and hey presto no eyebrows. still love the skinny greek bass player he is a genius.

  • Anybody can recognise Mick's skills on bass!

  • the million dollars band !!!

  • unbelievable ....

  • Great Phil Collins drumming! THAT phat and powerful sound and typical fills! Great!

  • Viki Brown is there but i dont think thats Sam. The other woman is far too old! Check out Pink Floyd at knebworth 1990 to see Sam and Viki do backing vocals. I could be wrong but that just doesnt look like Sam.

  • Background singers are awfull!

The song is played very well

  • never mind all the rest, just listen to the man mick karn

  • Phil blows on the skins! Mark Brzezicki (Big Country) is far more versatile and skilled.

  • @jumpinjojo Is 'blows' good? Because Phil is brilliant drummer. Great personality on the drums - though not as schooled as Mark Brzzesckzzisz

  • @aiyic No "blows" is not good. I find his style very generic and all too easy to identify.

  • @jumpinjojo Don't agree there mate. Phil Collins can drum Mark under the table any time! Have you ever listened to Phil Collins in Brand X? Or Genesis? And Phil has far more soul and fire in His playing!

  • @Yogiphildas I beg to differ, my brother. I own just about every Big Country album produced, both live and studio. If you want to hear soul and fire along with passion, take a listen to those compositions. Don't get me wrong, Phil is quite respectful, but Mark holds the real talent.

  • @jumpinjojo Then we'll have to agree to disagree ! Imho, Phil Collins is the most talented and passionate drummer ever. Mark is very good, but for me does not compare to Phil...

  • mmmmm.... yeah, good concert!!

  • in 1985 had better hair, buuu! But still have this fantastic voice, that's in plus:)

  • Great. Such a pity the editor never picked out Mick Karn whacking that bass. I would have loved seeing his fingers during Brian May's solo. He's absolutely fantastic.

  • Brian May Rocks!!! ♥

  • Phil's drumming just dominates. I love it !

  • Man!!! do you think a roadie could have run on and adjusted that mike stand for him? He did a great job singing playing keys and hold the boom arm!

  • haha, yeah, they should've done their job better, lol!

  • unbelieble.... this VIDEO IS ALREADY NOT CENSORED BY YOU TUBE...!!!!

    so nice...;-)

  • how in the name of god does Mick Karn get that seriously FAT tone on a fretless..

  • he plays a Wal bass, and he is Mick Karn.

  • Phil C. on drums, Brian May on guitar Awesome !!!!

  • I love this song anyway, but it sounds even better live! The 80's rocked!

  • In 90' theres a house version, with only female voices in vocals.

    Anyone knows it !?

  • Simmons!

  • regarding whether or not Pino Palladino is on this- I dont seem to see him either- the gent standing next to may at 3:38 is Mick Karn- that Wal bass he is playing is one give away- he also has somewhat of a distinctive look about his eyes and forehead- kind of zombie like (no offense intended here- just observation) kind of like early bowie-ish if you know what I mean (I am not describing it well here)- anyway- that is def. Mick Karn.

  • Ok, thanks for clearing this up - once and for all! :)

  • yeah ... 100 % correct ... I was about to write exactly the same comment, fortunately I read yours at first ... :-)

  • @luthier67 Mick Karn for defo - I think he waxed or shaved his eyebrows at one time which added to his general weirdness.

  • @luthier67 just from listening to Kraftwerk to searching for my old idol HOJO..if I listen to the guitar solo by Brian may, the bass...sound a lot like the bass played on Paul Youngs album...I would say its Pino Palladino...:-)

  • I actually liked the backing vocals so I tried to find more info on these gals. It's a mom/daughter team (Sam & Vicki Brown) that's very popular in England and parts of Europe. Vicki suffered for many years (lukemia, I think) but continued to perform. Unfortunately, she died a few years after this show. Sam still performs - as does her father, Joe. Very misical family here.

  • Thanks for the info! I didn't know. But now I know I've heard Sam's hit Stop (1988) many times. Apparently Vicki died in 1991, and Sam's daughter born in 1993 also was named Vicki.

  • Vicky Brown did backing vocals for Pink Floyd in the 1970s during their Dark Side shows at Earls Court. Her daughter was backing singer on the group's last tour in 1994 for The Division Bell. Most Pink Floyd fans know the two as they worked with the Floyd over the years and they worked on Floyd singer/guitarist David Gilmour's About Face solo album in 1984.

  • Hey,baramartin, thanks for the video.I have to say,the female backing singers, they suck. But other wise a lot of talent on stage.I always think Prince's Trust concerts have really good sound, but you're right they never do get those mike stands locked down(if they do,not where the performers need them)

  • OK, I've watched this a few times now, and I'm not seeing Pino Palladino. Mick Karn, yes... but not Pino.

Added to which, I'm only hearing one bass player.

Unless Pino is playing one of the horns, I'm betting he's not in this video.

  • Ok, I'm not the best one to judge if he's there or not :) , but someone said he's next to Brian May at 3:38... But if he's not there, I'll remove his name from here.

Thanks for looking and commenting! :)

  • You're wrong, that's Pino on bass, not Mick. I believe Mick played guitar on Sledgehammer, but other than that, all bass work is done by Pino - can't you tell by that fretless sound?

  • No, I stand corrected, that is Mick Karn - incidently both are fretless bassists!

  • man this is the prince's trust? they can never seem to lock down mic stands

  • this song is fucking unreal!!!!

  • The guitars and bass and drumming make this special

  • Hey Guys it is Mick Karn. Don't you know the man?

  • it is Mick Karn

  • YES it it! All my favs on stage together! =)

  • I hate these fucking background female singers

  • Pino sick as always!

  • Great Vid!

  • 3.26 Phil gets a wee bit of In The Air Tonight in there

  • "mark brzezicki on drums with phil...remember big country? on drums with phil...remember big country?" we DO!!!

mark brzezicki played with the Big Guys!!!!

  • Thanxs!!!

  • Me thinks the backing vocalists weren't hired for their voices somehow...

  • Yeah, poor guy the guitar player,he finished very bad.

  • mark brzezicki on drums with phil...remember big country?

  • Gosh! Wish he'd been on our side!

  • I liked this video clip. To see Brian May, Midge Ure (wow, is that a blast from the past, eh?), Phil Collins and Howard Jones all jamming together. I don't know the others mentioned, but seeing those four together was really cool.

  • please...listen Mick Karn´s bass and you will ear one of the best bass players in the world....

  • Even I like this song, I Don't know why May plays there...

  • those background female singers fucked up the whole song!!! LOL

  • I agree with you. I think Jones would've done just fine without them.

  • agreed.

  • this is the best version yet i've heard of howard singing this song...

  • Holy Crap these backing vocalists suck.

  • Hey don`t forget the man on the bass, Mike Khan from the band Japan, Wal bass sounds great and he now plays Jazz

  • I love Midge and HoJO - met them both... not at teh same time

    adore adore

  • Great performance of a great song. Cool lyrics, a groove that totally rocks and extremely talented musicians. What more could you want?

  • the 70s were the best and the 80s

  • There has never been a better time than the 80's. Stars were stars, often extremely talented musicians and songwriters, with their own style and look.

Look at the Prince's trust type concerts from the 90's and 00's, what have we got, Blazing squad, Cheeky girls, S club 7, big Brovvers, so solid crew, Sophie Ellis Bexter, Lily Allen, it makes me sick.

  • Yes this is great, I recoded the concert on video in 1988 to see Mark and Eric who were of course the main stars "The Eric Clapton all stars" with Elton, Howard Jones, Peter Gabriel and Joe Cocker were great aswell.

I love this song, and the 2 drummer break down, real horns etc.

  • Love this perfomance so much!

Howard always knew and still knews his trade!

Absolutly great! Thank you for posting.

  • Are you sure Pino is on stage? If I couldn't see Mick Karn, I would have guessed it was Pino from the sound. But Mick and Pino can have similar styles at times. I know Mick is up there, I recognize his fretless Wal bass. Is Pino playing another instrument instead of bass perhaps?

  • micks standing next to brian may towards the end...around 3,40...have to work hard to find him...at least you can hear him...what on earth howard jones did to end up on the same stage as a music legend(s) is quite mad??!!

  • maybe it was the fact that he was a fantastic musician who gained the respect of his peers (such as brian may and phil collins) in no time at all....?

  • Superb! Pino Palladino and Mick Karn- the two bass legends- on the same stage! Glad to see everyone Howard Jones, Brian May, Phil Collins, Midge Ure, et al on the same stage as well.

  • Holy crap, Howard, Midge, Brian and Phil... all at once! And an excellent song to boot. This video is the greatest thing I've ever seen.

  • It is great, but don't overdo it mate! ;-)

  • Pino ftw!!! :)

  • This is top! I love it - great with Mick Karn on Bass!

  • Mick is the best ever bass player! Great fan since 1980. Met him in 1982 and visited him personally a couple of times, used to live round the corner from him. Those were the days!

  • Mick Karn IS the best bass player ever...nobody can match him.

  • FUCKING WIN

  • Wow! This is great. What year is this from? I never saw this before. HoJo and Midge on the same stage!? Awesome! I have to criticize one thing though; that Bass sounds WAY off! Backup vocals are a bit off too......ooops!

  • 1988 Prince's Trust!

  • man...is there anybody really better than Mick Karn on bass?

  • NOPE!

  • AWESOME!

I love Howard Jones and Brian May!!

    They ROCKKK!!!!!!

  • waooooo・・・

Midge Ure! Mick Karn! Steve Jansen!

    and・・・・・・・・Brian May! what a hell!!!!

  • Stevie san, where??? Cannot see him, only Mick!

  • Esta canción es excelente, una de las mejores de los 80. Howard tocando y cantando es impresionante. Buenisimo

  • I was at that gig... fantastic! Brought back some good memories of a good night! Ta :)

  • Hey barbarianmartin! Where was Pino's name in the tag words? Shame!

  • LOL sorry about that! But you found it anyway, yes? ;) The mistake has now been corrected. Thanks!

  • did i spy midge ure in there as well?

  • Great to see this video, a lot of talent here! Mick Karn on bass!!!

  • Phil Collins and Howard Jones are both my favorit music artests of all time. And to sse them both on stage is amazing. Wish I was there.

  • Brian May and Howard Jones on the same stage, two drummers... who could believe it ? :)

  • he still got it after all theses years? good on you howard! love the 80's music i am a keyborad player so he rocks. . . .YEAH!!

  • Beautiful ensemble of talent. Love the strong yet sensual backing vocals of the women.

  • Much better than the MTV video version. More funky, fun, real. aj

  • both are idiots, don't fight...

  • That's Mick Karn on the bass.

  • love this song. 80's are the best

  • Yes the backing choir is very annoying, i wish they would give Howard a chance to sing the chorus in his on lol. but anyway i like this version of what is love and its a great video, Thank you!

  • Brian's great on this track (also was Musical Director for the whole show). Pino Palladino on fretless - great

  • Don't like the backing singers

  • The background choir is annoying... :P

  • idiot

  • I'am an idiot?? You are the idiot!

  • Brian May on guitar adding a lick to WIL. Top Stuff thanks.
