Resident evil 5 in my opinion is a much better game. Gears of war feels like i had played it a million times. Resident evil 5 is better but im not saying it is the best of the resident evil games
Well both games suck but if I had had to pick one I would have to got with resident evil cuz the game wasn't really that bad its just that it was a huge disappointment compared to re4 while gears 2 on the other hand is complete shit and so is 3. Gears wins for me because in RE5 when you fought the El Gigante I was pissed cuz all you did was shoot at it, I was expectin RE4 gameplay but, was given crap. So uneventful *sigh*

Gears has better voice acting and the dialogue is great. sometimes its wicked corny which is funny other times its engaging and serious and keeps you wondering whats gonna happen next
mercenaries mode is so frustrating, playing through campaign 2 times is so boring even with a friend in coop, playing 2nd time gears 2 is extremely boring as well, but horde mode supports teams up to 5, so sometimes it's actually fun because you can have a great conversation.
Resident evil 5 is a multiplatform game and looks even better on 360 than on ps3, look for the lens of truth comparison if you don't believe me. That aside, Gears of war 2 is a way better game.

I own a 360 and I like RE 5 better. It has a better story than GoW2, the gameplay is almost the same but shooting is better in RE5 but you can move while shooting in gears of war. Bosses of both games were great. Graphic wise I think they are both equal. I liked RE5's sound effects and score better than Gears the voice acting is good in both games. But RE5 has more replay value and more extras and has a campaign with multiplayer unlike gears that has a totally separate multiplayer mode.

Resident evil is old. The originals were good even with the old grphics of the playstation. You could always hear one of those damn lickers just around the corner.

Resident Evil 5's realistic graphics might make GoW2's look cartoony but it's gameplay is not on par IMO it's painfully slow. I loved RE4 und naturally I'll love its derivates (RE5, GoW, Dead Space, etc.) but if I had to choose one of these as my least favorite it's RE5. I'm only reviewing the gameplay and not plots nor mp quality.
As a pure third-person shooter, GOW 2 might have a slight lead. As an overall game though, I'd say RE5 is the better game. Either way, RE4 trumps both of them easily.
Resident Evil 5 is way better because I played both games start to finish played multiplayer in both and got all trophies. Resident Evil 5 has better graphics and does have more replay value. I played through Resident Evil 5 like 6 times and I still play the multiplayer today. Gears of War to me is something trying to shine the best it can but it just cant find the light. LOL :-)

Turok evoultion had dismembered models but it really wasn't focused on that sort of killing; if you are resorting to games with dismemberd models..man, even the 1st mortal combat had those. RE is economically alive but at least to me it has turned into a very boring franchise.

I enjoyed both games, but comparing them makes no sense. I think Gears 2 is a much better game. Saying shitty controls made Resident Evil a more intense experience is absolutely retarded. Mercenaries is not a fun mode at all. The Gears campaign is infinitely more replayable than the RE5 campaign. Capcom did not come out of nowhere and beat Epic at their own game, you should be slapped in the face for spouting such nonsense. RE5 is pretty but it gets old long before Gears.
Plus Resident Evil has been around for 13 years have some respect, R.E has books and movies although the movies suck.Gears has only been around for 5 years and hasn't been that active since the DLC in 2009 there just now making a sequel.Gow can never compare to R.E. So as far as releasing something new goes aka active Gow has been active for 4 years since its release, which puts R.E active merchandise or DLC ahead by 11years.Cliffy needs to get his thumb out his ass and make a good GOW.

Resident evil is old. The originals were good even with the old grphics of the playstation. You could always hear one of those damn lickers just around the corner.
Now it's just redone again and again. It's getting to look like left for dead. Only left for dead does the look 30 times better.

how the fuck can anyone say that resident evil 5 is better than gears 2. ive have both and i could only play the RE campaign once and it got boring as hell. the gears capaign is a lot more funner, ive beaten it like 5 times. RE doesnt even have a ranked online match and mercinaries is just playen gay. and come on gears has a freaken gun with a lancer, how isnt that BADASS!!!!!!

Resident Evil 5's realistic graphics might make GoW2's look cartoony but it's gameplay is not on par IMO it's painfully slow. I loved RE4 und naturally I'll love its derivates (RE5, GoW, Dead Space, etc.) but if I had to choose one of these as my least favorite it's RE5. I'm only reviewing the gameplay and not plots nor mp quality.

As a pure third-person shooter, GOW 2 might have a slight lead. As an overall game though, I'd say RE5 is the better game. Either way, RE4 trumps both of them easily.

Resident Evil 5 is way better because I played both games start to finish played multiplayer in both and got all trophies. Resident Evil 5 has better graphics and does have more replay value. I played through Resident Evil 5 like 6 times and I still play the multiplayer today. Gears of War to me is something trying to shine the best it can but it just cant find the light. LOL :-)

@predalien1995 dude...i posted that comment a while back. besides i like gow but i will choose RE anyday. it's kinda what made me a gamer. and yeah RE4&RE5 were not scary but they were not shit. both had great story's. re4 had it's scary moments like the regenarator. re5 was more action so yeah it was not cool but still great games. RE6 capcom said it's once again will be a darker and horror game. oh and that comment is 2months old.....so yeah.

@Unblacken The difference is that gears doesn't come from survival horror franchise and in fact I didn't enjoy at all RE4 and RE5 they were simply too ridiculou, but I don't see why GoW wouldn't be here without RE4.

@predalien1995 the truth is yes resident evil 4 and 5 are not survival horror games. but they are very great games and re 4 is just awesome and not ridiculous in anyway, re 4 was a very innovative game. gears, dead space, newer red faction titles, shadows of the damned and so many more are influenced by re 4. you should really watch interviews by the gears of war developers. they love re 4 and they put a lot of it in their games. too bad their fans are unappreciative little kids. sad :/

@Unblacken RE4 wasn't innovative in any way, neither is gears; Dead Space only had the dismemberment innovation. There was a developer of dead space 2 who loved minecraft... yet I fail to see how minecraft influenced the title, the same applies for GoW and RE4

@Unblacken It;s not survival horror, the 1st dead space scared me ONCE while RE4 didn't scare me at all; but I confess I was scared shitlesswith the first three (and the remake of the 1st was great). Turok evoultion had dismembered models but it really wasn't focused on that sort of killing; if you are resorting to games with dismemberd models..man, even the 1st mortal combat had those. RE is economically alive but at least to me it has turned into a very boring franchise.

Re4 wasn't real hard but harder than gears and dead space...yes :) it was very innovated. it introduced the over the shoulder 3rd person style which many games got influenced. do the research. watch video reviews or read about it. I enjoyed both games, but comparing them makes no sense. I think Gears 2 is a much better game. Saying shitty controls made Resident Evil a more intense experience is absolutely retarded. Mercenaries is not a fun mode at all. The Gears campaign is infinitely more replayable than the RE5 campaign. Capcom did not come out of nowhere and beat Epic at their own game, you should be slapped in the face for spouting such nonsense. RE5 is pretty but it gets old long before Gears.

Plus Resident Evil has been around for 13 years have some respect, R.E has books and movies although the movies suck.Gears has only been around for 5 years and hasn't been that active since the DLC in 2009 there just now making a sequel.Gow can never compare to R.E. So as far as releasing something new goes aka active Gow has been active for 4 years since its release, which puts R.E active merchandise or DLC ahead by 11years.Cliffy needs to get his thumb out his ass and make a good GOW.
