  • The near total lack of people appearing in the photographs in this slideshow movie evoke a sense of wintery solitude to complement the Vivaldi score. I enjoyed this. I haven't been to my hometown, Edmonton, since I was a kid. Looks kind of alien to me. The apartment buildings bring to mind soviet style public housing blocks.

  • fuck ya i live in edmonton ♥ hate the winters tho.

  • I visited in June/July from Australia because my uncle lives there. I loved it and am looking at moving there.

  • I'm moving there ASAP. I'm just about through with Vancouver.

  • @WTLover81 For your own good, don't. I live in Edmonton and it sucks, murder capital of Canada, -40 winters, the absolute worst roads especially in winter because they also have the worst plowing, the drivers are also terrible and there isn't much to do at all, even with the largest mall in North America, it's really overrated.

  • @Flightkid9 Well, where would you suggest I live? I refuse to stay in Vancouver.

  • @WTLover81 I wouldn't be sure where, just not Edmonton.

  • i LOVE LIVING IN EDMONTON i dont know what everyoneis saying.. it does not suck

  • Hah Im Moving here soon. Montreal sucks ass. im done there.

  • @CorvusKorax17 Im moving there in two weeks! ahah from BC

  • Nice video, it gives me a good impression of Edmonton.

I'll be visting it next year from Holland, been to Calgary 6 months ago.

  • Excellent photograpy, great music. Congrats

  • i love the city center mall shot sooo much

  • I don't want Lucy the Elephant to be moved D;

  • The first picture of that sign.. I used to live down the highway from there xD

  • We also have a corrupt mayor who is supported by our local media. Who wants to close our ECCA so the new owner of the Oilers can have a billion dollar ice rink on 80% tax payers dime, and would be able to keep all the profits. Building condo's every where and shoving the LRT down our throats. Putting the city deep in debt. Our mayor was pushing really hard for EXPO till the feds to him to can it. THANK GOD.. Yes Edmonton sucks. STAY AWAY.

  • @lee5537

Actually I live in Sherwood Park. The arena matter... Well doesn't matter to me. But I love Edmonton anyways. Maybe if people would stop voting for the Cons it would be a better place.

  • Minus 30, plus 30, we get both extremes. Very interesting place to live! Many great outdoor festivals all year 'round! Whether you attend in a bikini or a balaclava, it's still an awesome city!

  • molto bella

  • never want to leave this great piece of land.

vancouver's ok, calgary is full of ignorant rednecks and have a giant dick in their skyline, toronto isnt bad but not great, ottawa is really damn boring and montreal has too many languages.

  • toronto please!!!!!!

  • @jennifer23ish I agree

  • i live here and find it a very lonely city ,too much business and not an awful lot of social activity, sorry to ever thinks it is great city

  • Prokopton that's a cool video with wonderful pictures of Edmonton and a very very good music choice! ^^

i'm probably moving in to Edmonton soon..and i've never known winters less than 14 degress..:S

would be glad if you could had some sequences of Edmontonians on the street in winter.. :)

  • I dont care if it snows here in May, or the grass is never green its still home. I think edmonton's most beautiful time of the year is near christmas. all the snow you need. the best snow for building iglus!

  • I live in central america, actually looking for a city in Canada to move in....I was told Canadians are nice and culture people....far away from americans, but after reading all these reviews i got a bit dissapointed.

  • Edmonton ROCKS! Really, I'd rather live here in Edmonton than anywhere else in the world...

divinefart, go suck a dick, you fucking asshole. Rot in hell, you son of a bitch.

  • Edmonton seems dreary and depressing, Calgary is a little better.

You know what? Screw Canada I'm heading for Florida or Hawaii.

  • nice video

  • dazimo... well dont come back

  • Oh jesus christ, as an edmontonian you more than anyone should know how much it sucks to live in edmonton. Nothing to do and terrible weather.

  • Was in Edmonton a little over a year ago. I really enjoyed it. I had no idea I was going to a place with the largest shopping mall in North America. I was going for the Canadian Rockies. Red Dear and Leduc were really nice too. Didn't care much for Calgary though.

  • I am from Holland and I found Edmonton the most ghastly area I have ever seen in my whole life. It totally sucks! The only interesting building is the departure hall on the airport. It is a totall black hole, you only live there to make money and escape as soon as you can!

  • oh ya did your city have the biggest mall in the world at one point! NO!!!! thats what i thought!!!edmonton RULEZ!!!

  • I've been there and will never go back except to watch the Flames smash the Oilers, stay in school so you can go to college in a city where the girls don't wear sweat pants out to fancy resturants, and their family trees don't look like a stump,

  • i hate you, if i see you i will beat the s*it out of u and send u screaming back to holland. if you dont like it here than just leave, or better, kill yourself. it will benefit all of us.

  • #1 i'm not dutch , #2 once you pass 6-2 and 245lbs look me up again, we can have go, fucken puppy, anyway i digress, #3 you still, and always will be riding the short bus of life, the smartest thing to come out of your mouth this year has been your dad's cock, keep em coming einstien..........

  • holland sucks!

  • divine, you have to keep in mind that most edmontonians haven't been anywhere else so have nothing to compare it to. I moved here from Halifax a year ago, it's not too bad of a city if you give it a chance, but I hate the west edmonton mall, to crowded with obnoxious people, go to whyte ave instead, thats the fun spot. PS Holland certainly does not suck, love Amsterdam!!

  • ^_^ i love Edmonton (i do live here)

actually i don't like summer lol. it can get really hot

and i live in the downtown area so i get to see the pretty river valley XD if you live in edmonton and you haven't seen it (it being the river valley) in the morning after a frost you should check it out or look at a picture or something, it looks especially cool XD

  • I've been to Edmonton twice, but only in the Summer months. It looks way to cold for me in the winter, no thanks! The mall was pretty cool.

  • In Calgary, there's 4 season's in 1 day.

It like, snows in June. (Of course not every year, but March and April are pretty cold). lol I've only been to Edmonton once.

But the Mall is really cool! :)

  • oh man, i love my city, is the best... good or bad, it is our city, and i'm proud i am edmontonian :) :) :) yah, -49 in 2007 winter, so??? is a lot of fun also, trying to start your car in the morning at -40, finding some coins for a bus instead, drink a hot coffee and smoke one outdoor in the deepest cold in the world... who don't like that, just move away in BC or California. I'm proud with our "unique" winters, and to be onest, Edmonton in winter is bright like a bride :)

  • thank you i agree, i like the cold to, infact i dont even like summer, the smell of the winter is beautifull

  • oh you mean winterpeg??

  • winnipeg is nicer

  • LOL what a way to diss edmonton harshly by saying winnipeg is nicer....butt it is

  • looks nice and peaceful until u get there when it's -40!

then once you've been there 4 a few years you're used to it but u still can't wait 4 summer!

  • I miss Edmonton a lot,i was living thre in 1987-88 and 89.

  • Some nice and clear shots in the last part. Some footage of people would have been nice. Interesting music. What is it?

  • Vivaldi the Four Seasons: Winter.

  • @prokopton hahahaha deserted??????????? hahahahaha what a lie.

  • Where do you live now?

  • very depressing especially in my neighbor hood

  • Enjoyed this video compilation. Found only one thing unusual/odd - lack of people! There were not very many about, albeit a few vehicles. Seems to be a bit lonely. I guess it is just too cold to venture out.

  • Yes in the winter time the temperatures can drop to minus 30, lol the winters are bad because they are really cold and last forever, like were just getting spring now.

  • Spring - Ah, Best bet you're all out and about now! We're in Southern Victoria, Australia, temperatures vary from 0 to +46oC - so hard to acclimatise. Snow fell in the mountains this week of all things, very early for us. Cheers.

  • yeahh 5:23 is tword my ol' hometown

  • My brother moved to Edmonton about a year ago. He phones me every day and complains all the time about how boring it is and the city looks deserted. There are no people walking anywhere, even in summer. The only place you get any contact with people is in shopping malls. He went there for work but I can't see him staying much longer because he sounds so depressed all the time. He also claims many out there take drugs and most people are heavy drinkers, with booze stores everywhere.

  • His view of Edmonton could be applied to any city. It depends on the crowd he is around, the area of the city, his frame of mind because of his personal situation.

    It's a matter of perspective.

  • Personally, I love the quite environment that Edmonton has given me these past few years.

  • well i'm seattle and i feel depressed. although there are a lot of people around, I don't have that many people that I interact with so I'm terribly homesick. plus i see so many homeless people that it freaks me out. i lived in BC canada for 7 years and that was the bets. the only bad things is that you need a car if you wanna get around outside vancouver

  • @LIFEinMOLLYWOOD Your brother is a god damn liar. Tons of people walk around even in the winter, go downtown and it's fucking busy. People take drugs and drink in any city have some common sense.

  • @LIFEinMOLLYWOOD im sorry, you just fucking pissed me off. edmonton is nothing like that.

  • @LIFEinMOLLYWOOD You freaking kidding me? Are talking about the right Canadas? Edmonton is called the festival city for no reason. There are more than 30 annual festivals, year round, trust me. I've been to every lots since I was born. The biggest probably being K-days. (Or capital ex). On July 22, 2010, an estimated 230,000 people lined the streets of downtown Edmonton JUST for the parade. Not even the festival yet. I guess your brother was either living under a rock or blind.

  • @ajberry1 Yeah. He should have gone over to Whyte ave. Even if it's -40 out theres always tons of people!

  • @LIFEinMOLLYWOOD You freaking kidding me? Are talking about the right Edmonton?? Edmonton is called the festival city for no reason. There are more than 30 annual festivals, year round, trust me. • @LIFEinMOLLYWOOD i heard it's a miserable place to live. like a cold wasteland. but i could be wrong

  • @San94Andreas It feels like that about 2 months of the year when the weather is -30 C or colder. It makes summer that more enjoyable, though. Far from a wasteland though.

  • @San94Andreas "Our problems are like are luggage. They follow us wherever we go." Miserable people are miserable no matter where they live.

  • That's Vivaldi, The four Seasons; Winter

  • thanks to the astronauts, we now have wonderful clothing to keep us really warm in winter which us Canadians love so much, it's beautiful. I went to california one winter only to find some cities which should have remained a desert - apart from the coast, everything is artificial and dry, dry, dry, looks like everything had been burned. In Canada everything is so so lucious, so so beautiful and green.

  • Looks like Moscow.

  • Beautiful music choice!Where can I find your music selections? Btw: I've been to Edmonton and I just don't know how one gets use to - sub temps? I would be so depressed living in such extreme cold. Thanks though for your pictures and music of Edmonton!

  • Edmonton is a pretty awesome place to live in.

Except for the bad drivers :P

  • TOO DARN COLD FOR ME

  • Edmonton rocks , u get used to the weather

  • i miss edmonten, the big west edmonten mall, the long winters, the big river, other then the calgary shit river thats all brown and discusting with people dieing in it every year. when its cold here in calgary its still sunny and clear, it sucks if its gona be cold might as well have a nice fuckin senrey to it. cant wait to go back to edmonten

  • learn to spell you retarded

    cunt

  • escuse me? learn to spell is that all you can say? cause you know im right. edmonton owns calgary, calgarys surrounded by prarries and smells like cow shit, edmonton smells like rain and winter and is surrounded by pine trees, its beautifull. so think of a better comeback next time.

  • so true! <3

  • well calgary has the rockies, an educated population(highest in canada), the richest city in western north america per capita, a hockey team that plays over 500. 3 of the 5 global oil companies have head offices here population, 1 million people can't be wrong eh, hows those oilers doing? the only reason edmonton is the capital is so people would go north, its in our provincial history books check it out, i have been there many times , its a shit

  • @divinefart 50% of people say they like calgary cause of the mountins n there not even in the fucking mountins there in the prarries, nothing of what you said makes calgary a better place

  • i can be in the rockies in 40 minutes, what do you guys have ? nordegg, we have Chinooks, full sets of teeth and our women don't wear sweat pants with good shoes to go to a "mall", still hanging on to the city of champions? that was in the early 1980's`, Edmonton is a toilet that need s to be flushed, ask all the retards from out east that infest your bowl of shit and they will agree, people go to edmonton because they have failed in calgary or they are from saskatchewan

  • @34headsonastick Edmonton smells like burned oil and vehicle exhaust, I'd say being about 2 hours from Banff makes Calgary the winner! And being the murder capital of Canada makes Edmonton the looser.

  • Where Mass Effect was made if you are a gamer. Bioware has one of their shops set up there.

  • Edmonton is awesome.Best days of my life were spent there.

  • wow that place looks amazing, but very cold.

  • My boyfriend lives there

    i think u'll like it

  • i looooove edmonton i live there now in Clairaveiw

  • You dont know how lucky you are...

  • I live in Millwoods! Did you know Millwoods is bigger then Red Deer

  • lived in edmonton during the 80,s. some of the best years of my life.

  • nice video, great choice of music,me and my wife are hopefully immagarating to the area, love and respect scotty and libby:0)

  • Thank-you for those kind words. Hope you come here!

  • Beautiful music! You did a great job. It reminds me of Houston, only because everything is very spread out, as opposed to many other large US cities.

  • it's really a nice city, just too many people post winter shots.

  • I'll do a summer vid, just for you soon. I'll post it under my TrungEdm account. :-)

  • sounds good! might give people a better impression of Edmonton to see how beautiful it is in the summer, as opposed to the gloomy winter vids that aren't so flattering to the city, and don't do it justice.

  • The original pics I took were crisp and clear but they became blurry and darkened a bit when put in a movie slide show for YouTube.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to avoid this, please let me know.
