Pray tell how any idiot, no, make that SUPREME idiot, could dislike this. This is a work of art from a true living legend.
I'm in awe. Tom Jones is much better than he was 40 years ago. His voice has taken on a soulful tone and he's stretched himself singing songs like this.
It's not just studio magic. Listen to the AVO Sessions from Basel where he can boom it live still.
This is such a terrific performance from one of the few living legends still around.
Tom Jones ... His name resonates with the same golden tones he emotes as he sings. I have been "with" him since the beginning, and continue forever on. Tremendously talented; legendary and perfect..
I'm probably one of the few viewers who know Tom Jones since the 60s (Delilah, Green Green Grass of Home, What's New Pussycat). For me, he was just a pop singer, not to compare with my idols of that era. But in this song, I recognized a great artist and I take back my judgement, shamefully. Primarily, I appreciate that he stands by his age now - no more black dyed hair. I agree fully with Arch666Angel's comment: Tom is like red wine, the older the better.
James Brown once told Johnny Carson that Tom Jones was the only British kid with real soul (this was the sixties). Always showy show-biz and always with a voice that was unappreciated by critics, Tom served notice with his cover of Prince's "Kiss"... and then that bit in HBOs "Blues" series. He's not just for Las Vegas blue-hairs anymore (well, maybe, 'cause he's gone grey).
Tom Jones has grown and matured from the singer he was to the singer he is now he has grown into a more powerful singer and you can also see the images and the power behind these 3 sentences. Great song Mr. Woodward
@zedhead Thanks and yes,I`ll move on.You`re right, there is so much truth in this song and in many songs either.Often the songwriter finds the words which I`m seaching for.Touching my soul,DID TROUBLE ME,haha
@kochsalz2008 Have you been able to move on,Brother? Songs have a more powerful influence than people realise and maybe your specification on these lines was the catalyst.... Hope you are alright
I never liked Tom Jones or his music in the past, but it's great to hear something by him with substance and soul. I love this, and hope he does more songs like it!
Such a song, this song goes right through me. Probably my favorite on the album. I love the arrangement, although I would have used a mandolin instead of a banjo. Too twangy for this treatment.
I totally get the Johnny Cash thing!! Actually it's a excellent comparison! This album is great....and actually I grew up just hating Tom Jones...my Mom played him ALL the time. But this CD is totally different and very real. It's really good!
My first thought was like 'Tom, what has happened? you're singing some religious shit? man, you are the King of Las Vegas' but second one was that I have to admit that he is outstanding no matter what does he sings. His voice suits this perfectly
I have been a fan for years, saw Tom perform in the New Theatre Cardiff ( before the nose job) I have always enjoyed his recordings. I was not to sure of this album at first (it was very different) but it quickly grew on me and I have bought the album and pleased that I did. I now love it to bit's, MORE OF THIS PLEASE TOM.

Somehow reminds me of Johnny Cashs last album, when he entered his "serious old man" phase. I was never a fan of Tom Jones, but this is a gem, raw and with heart and soul, you can nearly hear how all the deeds of his life reflect in his new songs. Thank you for sharing this with us Tom.
Praise and Blame easily contains some of the best work of Mr. Jones' career. This video has symbolic imagery that is thought provoking without being religious or in your face.

@Paladopolis Well, it's sort of obvious that I should not enjoy the song because I am an atheist. I just figured it might interest Christians that we do not hate them--well, some them;)--but I'm okay with the god message in this song.
Full disclosure, I'm not a Tom Jones fan. I am a fan of Lost Highway records and I have this a whirl because it was one of their releases. Wow! What a great song, one pretty much every level. Tom Jones sings at a tone and pace that are pretty much perfect. The instrumentation and arrangement are light and ideal for a song like this. Color me impressed.
