any one in CA unschooling? we will be planning for the transitioning out of private umbrella school program to UnSchooling. any advice, tips, steps, even from those already doing it, especially in CA that'd be helpful as well. VERY good video, here!!;)
"How do you meet people?", god I hate that question, so ridiculous. To suggest the ONLY place you could meet people is at a school. admittedly the schools do have a NEAR monopoly on kids and that does make it harder to meet people, but that only speaks to the ubiquitiousness of the schooling system, not to an inherent connection between schooling and meeting people. If EVERYONE was unschooled it would be quite easy to meet people! Now wouldn't that be an interesting world to live in.
Yeah, I'm tired of the socialization question too. Any homeschool vid answering questions meeting people is always the primary concern. My sisters kids know pretty much everyone in their town. The other annoying thing is that when summer comes homeschool and school kids are done learning.
New fan here, saw you on the Manic Panic site!-I love this video,I'm glad you're spreading the word on unschooling. People need to understand that school, sadly, just discourages most people.Sure there are the basics, but who can tell you what you need to learn and what you should be passionate about?we should be able to learn anything and everything we want to
Great Monique! Thanks for putting this out there. We are unschoolers, too. You might also like the websites joyfullyrejoycing and sandradodd. They are my favorites.
That was fantastic. I don't have children, but there is no way in hell I'd put them in public school or a private school with the same model. I went to public school for 12 years and I hated it every step of the way. I'm won't subject my children to the same nonsense. When parents force their children to go to school, they show that they don't care about their child's thoughts and beliefs. My parents sure didn't give a rat's behind about mine.
@Moniquedupree7 I'm in my teens, and my mom would like for me to get a GED, I really have no interest in following such a format. How would I proceed if I really have no desire following a GED program.
Damn Monique, you are like super-woman! You seem like such a great mother, and you're such an independent woman, doing your own thing artistically/in film. You're just great, and you're drop dead gorgeous! :-D
That is great information -- I'm a firm believer in homeschooling & I know a few kids who need a little extra help with public schooling too. Thanks for this clip!
public school is not concerned with education. but miseducation. the public education is designed to create persons that can do paper work and keep tabs. in short turn out GOYIM BY THE DROVES.
Incredible Monique ! that you make that commitment to your kids. And to have intelligent kids that want to learn is a blessing.Having the internet is also a handy thing ,having all that knowledge at your fingertips would make it so much easier to learn stuff these days!
Excellent and true!
Greetings from an unschooling mom in Denmark.

there are not many black children that have been home schooled. you could/should write a book on the experience.

If i had been unschooled i probably wouldnt have developed a intense debilitating hatred for authority that trips me up to this day.
I hated school.
