Busing was a very volatile issue in the 1970s and was still around in the '80s.
This episode kinda cleaned it up though. They shipped poor black kids into middle class white suburbs but 2 my knowledge, they NEVER did it the other way -- sending white kids 2 black schools.
Isn't it just easier 2 give money 2 schools that need it so all kids get a fair shot at quality education?
White kids were bused to schools in black communities. When I was growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, my family (who's black, btw) lived in a majority-white school cluster (South High School). Many of the whites there were sent to the majority-black cluster(East Tech High School). My older brother was also bused to East Tech lol
This makes me so sad and it makes me even sadder to know that Different Strokes was made and took place in the eighties. How can people continue to be so ignorant even after the civil rights movement?! I'm about to turn twenty-one and plan to have kids in about ten years and I just hope to G-d that by then, racism is a thing of the past.
Some white people are so like ignorant. The Neighborhoods where the African American's live aren't a ghetto. A ghetto has walls. Over the Rhine in Cincinnati has no walls yet it's called the ghetto. I just find it sad that they always talk about the ghetto when no one but holocaust survivors truly know about ghettos.
RIP Kimberly. :-( Just wanted to let everyone know that if you guys are enjoying Diffrent Strokes, you should check Minisode Maniac with What the Buck on Minisodes main page, where Buck talks about this episode. Thanks!
why do you feel you have to inject politics into things that are made to just be entertaining. and if you want to talk about obama, or any ployticks(my way of spelling the word, root word it) then just email me. loved this show, best was water ballons off the roof.lol.
