It may seem fun, but like most of my repair helicopters that fly exactly .... i almost "happy" when hit. Is this normal? = D I just fix my T-rex 500, which broke a 7-important parts, including the main shaft and feathering shaft (bent). he practically exploded ..... (unskilled pilot) It was a nasty fall, with the battery stop going away .... Funny, even pity not filmed. The only thing funny was not worth the $ $ $ to repair .....
The 250, for anyone out there that thinks it is an easy heli to fly and cheap to repair, well, think again! It's a BASTARD to fly, very twitchy, and out of view in an instant when you put the nose down. Crash the little fucker and EVERYTHING breaks, cost is as much as a 450. Unless you have eyes like a hawk, it is the most frustrating thing to repair and not enjoyable at all. Needless to say after very little flying my 250 is now an ornament in a glass box. My 700 is pure bliss at the side of it
sorry for the crash man..very nerve wrecking..i just posted my 250 video this mornin u shuld check it out, i have a couple 450 vids too...im surprised u dont like the 250 i love it, the 450 is a beast but the 250 can handle its own its veeery quick
your flying skills along with the slk in the background are really bad for your repair-cost-calculation-credibility. you are exaggerating quite a lot!
for sure for those prices i could have gotten 4+ of each, so i'ts really a quarter of that cost...and how did you break aluminum blade grips? all in all thats a 20 dollar fix maximum, and the damn canopy, looks nicer than mine i fly with now, use some tape and stop wining! you obviously aren't ready for a 250 if you can't keep it in the air more than 15 seconds...
I don't like everyone's crash analyzes... They make it as expensive as possible! Use some glue, tape, zip ties, whatever! My 450 flies beautifully on previously broken, glue, zip tied, taped, etc. parts :)
Align products cost so cheap from where I live that the said $86.91 crash cost of this T-Rex 250 is the same amount I paid when I crashed my T-Rex 500 ;-) that includes the labor for the shop that fixed it for me ;-)
That crash blows bud. I recently crashed mine in almost the exact same way. I was outside and under the washing line in the garden pitch pumping. To avoid the linr I pulled negative (too hard). The positive pitch response on mine seems slow and I'm running 100% flat ind ID1. It hit the ground hard and did pretty much break everything including the lower side frames. I was running carbon blades too. I cannot believe how much it costs to repair. My blade grips are on back order :(
Learning how to fly micro-sized RC helicopters is not easy when faced with replacement parts costs in this economy. Hopefully you'll have progressed quite a bit since this video and your crashing is limited. RC simulator software is very much not overrated!
Yeah, unplug the deens, this thing is so little - I don't give it much respect, and your right - I should, if anything good practice. Fact is I don't fly the 250 much - I don't like it - no fun. A 450, I've got bit pretty bad - ONCE - lots of respect for this size and bigger. The Trex 450 is still fun to smack around, but feels like a toy too. Trex 500 Lots of fun, 600 Nitro and Electric much much better, gets the heart pumping. Trex 700 JOY! - 50s and 90s - the bomb... and HUGE respect.
It looks like from the video that you added pitch and took off before the head speed was all the way up because of the soft start. Then once you were off the ground the heed speed finally caught up and flung you a little too high. It happened to me once when i was outside, i took off and then all of the sudden the heli started rising fast without any throttle inputs. Scared the crud out of me. sorry for your loss.
cbrian4 - that is exactly what happend, my other birds spool up faster, not used to waiting. I was dropping thot... just not fast enough. I hate normal, idl-1 and 2 for me are mostly flat 95-90-95% and 100-95-100% for all my birds. I see you got a HB2, time for TRex 500 maybe? 250 is fixed, don't like it much, twitchy, hard to see, and everything seems to break in a crash. Cost more to crash then my 450, about the same as my 500, and a bit less then my 600-go figure. Thanks for your comments.
I would love a 500, i actually just recieved a 250 (shipping took 2 weeks) as well and its dialed in great with my logictech 2100t and 3100g tail servo. Rock solid tail on pitch pumps. I got pretty good eyes so its all good for me, and its super stable in a hover. I feel spoiled coming from a plastic setup to a luxury aluminum and carbon set up. I can do very ugly rolls with my king so i thought i'd be up to it.
That's great, I checked out your flight videos - time to do some more! Time to youtube your 250. Are you having probems with the tail? Did your kit come with the new bearing spacer for the tail rotor hub? Mine did not (H25074-1) Have you tried a Spartan 760, I borrowed one off my TRex 500 - it rocks on that 250. I'm thinking of putting a TRex 700 together, convert it to electric, 12S w/4035 Scorpion, 611 and 690mm blades - YEAH!!! - brings me great joy just thinking about it.
Hey, Jdefrain, when you convert your Trex 700 to Lipo power please post it on Youtube. I've been considering it but been too busy to get it in motion. I'd love to see it fly with electric power.
@jdefrain1 Just converting my 700nitro to KDE electric 560kv scorpion and tried the 130amp esc of theirs, it did not work! Now looking at Kontroniks 120hv , double the price but I'm told they are the dogs, Castle Creations was also a very scary option. Please let me know how you get on. KDE parts are the cream.
what the heck? how did the aluminum blade grips fail? dang thats expensive crash for a little 200 class heli even my t-rex 450 is cheaper then that... and i crash pretty hard with idle up
Yeah, crazy hu, but remember this was two crashes in one, once on the roof, then the ground. Brains and trains, I got trains, lots and lots of trains!! Been flying outside, tuned up nice, flies great.
So what exactly happened to the blade grips? Just scratches or more towards a bend? dang I might have to buy a gaui 200 v2 instead! there insanely strong and there 3d is very good.
The blade grips are not solid like any of the other Align grips, they are cut and then bent to shape - rather then cut to shape, at least thats what it seems. The landing gear is very poor too. Many people are using 450 or gaui gear in place of the 250 gear. There is no doubt that this is V1 of the 250. Power, stability, the build - its all good, a few issues still. Parts are so small, seems everything breaks in a crash. A 450 or 500 is a much better deal. I think 500 is best of all sizes
Thanks for the encouragement, got all the parts ordered (from 3 places) Have them in time for our clubs flight day Sunday. I think Im the first with a 250 so Ill be the cool guy wont tell about the crash. When I ordered my 250 stuff, I also got 2 new ESCs and motors (Castle/Scorpion) for my TRex 450 and 500. The crash worked out real nice for me!!! Keep the spinny thing up . Well, when you are on the ground that is
That is a great example of gyro-induced tail wag though.
Parts are available now, hope you can get it back in the air! I always recommend using training balls on a new helicopter, no matter how experienced you are. Oh, and not flying with a hard altitude limit :)
Ya i brock my landing gear and we orderd them and it only came with ine insted of two
