• you are a respectable man

    thank you for respecting us

  • How about keeping your eyes on the road instead of into the camera lens? You probably text and use your cell phone also. If you need to be on camera at least stop the car and gaze at the camera then.

  • Terrific Vid Dale, you are like the kindly Dad to the YouTube family. Love the long perfect take wih the 3 cam-drive. I hope you do that again soon. Great advice to reduce bad-videos...dodging roadkill ~ hah! great analogy...or maybe that would be a digitalogy.

  • Ok Dale.. This one helped me... It made me realize that earlier when i made my 3rd ever Vlog... that its pretty boring.. Im still gettin used to the camera but i need to play around and do try to figure out soem editing... Im just gettin started... but im enjoying listening to the thoughts of some of the pro's like you and Holly and others that have been doing this for a while :)

    Crystal

  • Driving or talk? Stop!:))))

  • your an awsome dad !

  • Thanks Scott! I hope my kids think that too when they get older!

    :D

  • A manuel! In America? Wow =)

  • There are a lot of stick shifts in the US, jicres. More than you would think. :D

  • The road going by is strangely mesmerizing/soothing. I have like three pictures of me when I was little. My parents weren't exactly documentarians. The roadkill analogy is hilarious!

  • Thanks RL! I know what you mean about the three pictures! LOL

  • Hmm, what kind of car is that. Its not an Audi... Dale do you drive a Saab?

  • Charlie, that's an old beat up Saturn. But she still runs great, and she doesn't suck gas. So I don't complain!

    :D

  • YO!!!! Nice angles, edits and views. I love stick shifts. 5 stars.

  • Thanks Enrique! There were no edits though. It was three cameras running and one solid take. :D

  • What a great video...car vlog...drlog?...

vlogging roadkill!!!! SO FUNNY! Don't inflict us with your boredom.

  • Thanks Wendy! How about we go with CROG! LOL That would be a new one!

Boring vlogs aren't always bad, though. Just better not to put them out ALL the time! :D

  • True. Crog on!

  • vroom vroom, why no camera on the foot pedals? So I was trying to figure out where in the ATL you were driving. Now that I know this city so well!!

  • Hey Maggie. I didn't hear back from you, so I guess that you and Rob had a good time last weekend traveling around this fair city! At least I HOPE you did! And we better get to see some roadtrip footage soon! :D That's all I got to say about that!

And I thought of a foot cam, but it was too dark and too dangerous! :D

  • Yeah Sorry about that. It has been busy, busy days and nights. No time for cluttering up the internet. We had a great time in the City. Love it!

How do you find the time to reply to everyones's comments?

  • After the house goes to bed, I am up for a few hours (MANY hours tonight due to a new vid edit/posting). It is my hobby-time.

But I definitely need sleep tonight. However, having a new video go up is too exciting. So now I am both exhausted and pumped. A bad combination!

  • YOU'RE DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD!! *covers eyes*

How do you do that and not crash into anything?

    Multitasking extordinare!

    Lottie Gloop! xx

  • haha Lottie. That had to be hard for a Brit to watch! :D

    I hadn't thought of that!

How do I do that? Well, I just equate it to having a friend in the passenger seat, and having a conversation with them. :D

  • This was really good, I'm glad that I stumbled on to your page..

  • I am sorry that I left my page in the floor again. I hope that you did not twist and ankle or anything. I am not very well insured.

    :D

Thanks for dropping by (almost literally - LOL).

  • lol

  • ok... when are you upgrading to Holograms? Oh yeah! I'll put up whatever I want!! What are you, the InnerTube Police? LOL

    -Kiddsock

  • You SUCK!

And you smell like a locker room!

    hehe

You had BETTER put up whatever you want! Otherwise I would spray you with Gold Bond!

  • ooo that'll sting!

  • I so understand what you say about VLOGGING as far as kids go. I am always running for my camera. Never thought they would be interested in seeing what I was like though - I need to get back in shape so they can see something of their dad besides text bumps! Great job as always, Dale... what editing software do YOU use?

  • Hey Alf. The one I OWN at home is Adobe Premiere. However, I have had the luxury of having a computer from work at my home lately. And it has Final Cut Pro on it. It is a fantastic piece of software. that I could NEVER afford. :D

My last 16 videos have been made on it.

  • Just saw it again to better know what details I'm commenting on. At 1:16 I saw that car pass you on the shoulder. I just realized. What if you had been rear ended? I wouldn't ever want that for anybody, but imagine the footage. That would have been craaaazie!!!

  • Nah, D. It was a passing area that is legally there. Plus I edged over near the center line to make sure that he had enough room. Multitasking supreme! :D

  • Oh yeah... I remember those from when I spent a year in Jacksonville. There was one off of A1A in Jacksonville Beach. It would freak me out every time for a few seconds to see a car pass me on the right when I was stopped at the red light for my lane but have the passing light be green arrowed. I could never get used to that.

  • You've been holding back, haven't ya? One of your slickest productions to date! I don't know whether to be inspired or intimidated!!! [j/k] Now if you'll excuse me, I feel the need to go clutter up the internets! : - )

  • just go ahead and be intimidated. it will save us a lot of time.

    :D haha

A month and a half until SouthTube! :D

  • Now that was a freakin sweet video! I like the multi camera angles. But one problem. You are soooo making me want a manual Transmission CAR!

  • You can have mine! LOL

  • Bro -

    Now I'm biiiiittttttterrrrr LOLOL!

You have 3 cams and better editing software than me. I need to get Final Cut and bring my game up to this level. Yes, I'm hating (LOL), but I'm loving it at the same time. You keep me sharp, brother. Love you, man. Great video. Great message.

  • Don't hate brother. The cams and the editing software are all borrowed from work. :D

And besides, the Force is DEFINITELY with YOU! Your latest video puts me to shame on SO many levels! It is da explosive device!

    :D

  • hola!

  • Ok, I am so amazed, I'm speechless. Did you do this on one take? OMG!! You are the greatest, Dale!

  • One take? yes

    Greatest? not

    Almost the greatest? maybe

-Keep stroking the ego. We could be here ALL DAY!

    LOL

  • OFMG! i don't know which frame to watch! lol

  • Always watch the one with ME in it!

*I* am the most important thing.

    ALWAYS!

    LOL

  • Hit the nail right on the head with this one Dale, still scares me when you drive and talk to the camera

    :-@

  • Hey Rooster! Long time! Hope all is well!

About you being scared...didn't this one show you that everything is alright? LOL

    Take it easy buddy!

  • E Liter! HA!

  • Hey Dick. I am definitly guilty of tossing a few cans off to the side of the 'superhighway' myself!

    :D

    Are ya going to SouthTube?

  • I am planning on being there

  • i was going to comment but then i was like i dont know what to say and was like oh crap i did not check or balance my comment

  • Would you like me to remove your comment as a form of checks and balances Alexander? LOL

  • Wow Dale, this video just blew me away! Not only you had 3 cameras, amazing topic to go through - beautifully i might add - you are one of those people who can drive and talk at the same time! lol Great video, as always! Nice road, heh?

  • Hey kitty! I was really hoping for some road kill to be in the road when I mention the internet road kill. But alas, it was not to be! :D

    And thank you, btw!

    :D

  • And that is why I don't make very many videos anymore :)

  • Yeah, there are ppl out there with plenty to say about there lives, I prefer not to make a video if there isn´t anything to say or show really

  • All I know Cla452, is that you did a GREAT talking head video. So I know you have it in ya!

But that is the beauty of it all. You make them when YOU want to! :D

    -peace

  • Hey Bill, I just went and looked. And the # of views on your vids is very comparable what I am getting on mine now. You shouldn't have given up. :)

  • *puts on cop uniform*

Sir, around 3.21 into this video you crossed the yellow marking on the road, this is an offense in the state of atlanta and you're getting a warning for this.

    o_O

  • state, city, whatever, I'm not even american xD

  • I noticed that too but wasn't going to say anything. What? You can see my typing out loud? Oh.

  • I'm wondering if you didn't notice the traffic until that point and had to take evasive maneuvers to not hit the SUV (Was it a Jeep Liberty, I think?) in front.

It was right when you said, "Uh..."

  • I said, "Uh" a lot David. LOL

    :D

No Jeep's were harmed (or almost harmed) in the shooting of this modern masterpiece.

    :D

  • Alright Jerno. I am THIS close to unleashing my hit squad on you. You had better tread lightly! LOL

And besides, going over the yellow lines is perfectly legal if the cops don't see you. :D

  • WHat if i am internet police? xD

  • Then you have bigger fish to deep-fry that me.

I can give you NAMES! :D

  • what if i am internet traffic police? o_O

  • Then I would point you to the drifter's videos! :D

Like I said...plenty of bigger fish!

    I am a minnow.

  • Alright sir, I'll let you get off with a warning for this one. consider this your lucky break.

    *catches those darn street racers*

  • Road cam was a bit low, Dale :p

  • check the comments, Jerno. :P

    :D

  • i know, i saw that in the description after, made another more useful comment too xD

  • LOL

I noticed the extra commenting. just thought you were finger-happy! :D

  • multi cams...I like it. You are such a natural talking and doing something else at the same time. I'm impressed. Good advice too. :)

  • Thanks Caren! Impressing you is an honor! I will try not to do it too often though and wear out my welcome. LOL

    :D

  • This was really nice Dale!

  • Thanks Chrysti!

  • Nice 3-camera video, Dale!

  • Thanks Miss Truly! A bit over a month before SOUTHTUBE!!!

    woo hoo!

  • Cool 3 shot video Dale. Did you use one camera or have 3 going simultaneously?

  • Oh my dear Zip. I refuse to answer your question here. Only because I had the foresight to expect your question and had already addressed it in the COMMENTS!!!!! LOL

    :D

    *big wink*

  • Thats what scares me,not having anything to say thats interesting enough for people to watch and listen. Then when I put it on the computer I feel like its not interesting or making sense. I think its when I am all alone...Im not funny or interesting without an audience, thats why I didnt make it in radio! Laugh tracks arent enough! I wish I had a crew around me when I am hanging with friends. Maybe...I will call a friend on the phone while I am driving and videotaping...talk about roadkill!

  • You know what would have been really scary? If he planted a fake deer on the road and pretended to notice it at the last minute and pretended to swerve and cut to black with first tires screeching and then a car horn going off. That would have been so cool.

  • Oh David. I need to get you involved in the writer's meetings. They have been letting me down a bit lately. You may be the infusion of new energy that they need. hahaha

    :D

Another good one from you, my friend. You have been having some classic comment droppings in this thread. ;)

  • Yes thanks Dale. I'm very good with droppings. Usually it's with hints, but I guess this time, it was of the roadkill variety.

  • And PS, The "writers" have been letting you down a bit lately? Yeah I don't see how the "writers" i.e. YOU, could let yourself down, much less let anyone else down. A great father, a loving husband, and a caring friend? A let down? Yeah suuuure, I'm calling your bluff on that one then.

And also getting people to help brainstorm and edit isn't a new idea. Other tubers have been using friends to help with input on final edits for a long time now.

  • Tishala, you don't have to 'vlog' per-se to contribute GREAT STUFF! That 'lost vlog' of yours was great. But you did have your friend on the car with you to 'feed off of.'

I am MUCH MORE funny when I have someone to play off of. But I can never get them on camera. :D

So get that friend in the car again, and shoot away. Then edit it down a bit, and you will be surprised how much fun you will have. And if YOU have fun, then we ALL get to have fun too!

    :D

  • Multiple views ROCKS! This is very cool. I dig the different views! I saw you do a check and balance at 2:22 to ensure the roof cam was all good still. :) I love your vids of the fam especially because you do have mad editing skills! Perhaps it's good the roof cam wasn't shooting higher. All the road signs would show and we'd all know how to get to your house! Muah ha hah!! Awesome that the quality of each screen was exactly the same. Nice audio, too.

  • Oh, and btw, during editing I make sure to clip out the "Ums, uhs, anyways, and so's." I apparently do that often and find that because I see it in my editing process I make efforts to keep from doing it so much. :)

  • And I was just about to say the same that I self edit so I don't have to do it later in the editing bay.

  • He checked the roof cam, but he never balanced it very well... Just Kidding Dale!!!

  • checked it but didn't balance it! hahaha David! nice one!

    Security!

  • Hahaha Ann. You KNOW the way to my house! LOL I have video proof of that. :D

And the quality was the same on each screen because all the cams were the same brand and model. :D That definitely helped. ;D

And I love how you are all talking about the audio, angles, screen quality. It shows how much you have been getting into the technical side lately. And it shows! Your editing has been growing by leaps and BOUNDS. When you open Pinnacle, you will be SUCKED into the vortex. LOL

  • I can't wait to open up Pinnacle! And quit redirecting the compliments! Thank you so much for them, too! I've discovered a lot through the editing process! You're awesome and my ego loves you as much as I do! LOL! I don't know the way to your house... Tony drove. Wait. Then you drove the rest of the way. (Hm. Reading that back it just sounds odd.) By the way, you've been there from the beginning and I learned a few things from YOU, Dale! w00t! Now I'm wanting multiple cams...

  • What brand and model were they? Can't seem to find if that was ever covered.

  • David, they were little Canon MiniDV ZR500's. Nothing great. But they do the job.

  • I have to say that was an interesting video. Having the three angles of view really added. The message was spot on too, though I admit to having a few rather boring videos out there still!

  • Thanks Steve. I LOVE The occasional boring vlog videos. Don't get me wrong. Sometimes those can be truly entertaining. It is the ones that are not entertaining that need to be checked and balanced. LOL

    And entertainment is truly relative.

So basically, you can disregard everything I said. LOL

    :D

  • "vlogging roadkill"- ha ha ha!

great term. I'll try to spread it around and maybe it will catch on.

  • your check is in the mail!

    And CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN! wooo hooo!

  • I never learned how to drive a stick shift. Seems like a lot of work.

  • Hi Lou. It is almost second nature. My first car (1984-86) was a stick. And this is my second stick. So it was like starting all over again.

Automatic is DEFINITELY easier for car vlogging, I must say!

    :D

  • *nods strongly* your secret is safe with me ^_^

  • Hey! I liked this one, I thought it was out of the range of your regular videos- and it somewhat reminded me of your "News" days. great editing, too! ^_^

  • Spinx was not here!!

  • I looked for you UNDER my car, but was sadly disappointed!

  • Hey Dale. I really enjoyed the video. I've thought several times about how neat it would be to have multiple cams built into a car. Maybe future cars will have a roof, dash and back mount cams built in. LOL Hope you're enjoying your Saturday. -Jim

  • They already have backup cameras. How long before the YT Generation demands VLOGGING cams? LOL

Thanks Jim. I am off to the drawing board for a Monday submittal of MY idea to GM. :D hahaha

  • U handle ur stick nicely

  • Oh you naughty girl!

    :D

    no comment.

  • The cameras are a really cool idea.

  • Spur of the moment Alex. Everything just fell into place. Thanks 4 watchin'.

  • Speaking of checks and balances, weren't those yellow lines you drove over? Aren't those particular checks and balances in place to keep you safe? Uh... ok, I was trying to make a joke here and lost the premise. I guess I didn't have anything of value to say.

    LOL

    Good viddy Dale!

  • Andy, would you like me to remove your lousy comment as a form of check and balance? LOL

    Thanks for watching, my friend!

    :D

  • i love the intro!! :) great picture on this camera! you are multi talented- stick drive, vloggin, recording..wow!

  • Ah Jill, but just after the video wrapped up, I ran off the road, hitting five school children and a disenfranchised penguin, causing over $3000 dollar damage to my car.

It is going to take me DAYS to get all of that penguin out of the grill. And one of (or part of one of) those school children WRECKED the roof cam. So I am going to have to buy another to replace it. That SUCKS!

But I am just glad that I got one good take before those kids ruined it all!

    ;)

  • the footage of your driving scares me O.o i think its cause the camera was mounted too low and i cant see where you are going (or if other cars are coming) @_@ im highly paranoid as a passenger to begin with so dont take it personally O.o

  • hahaha Katie, I can't ride in the passenger seat either! I am an AWFUL non-driver. I am a nervous wreck (pun intended).

    :D

  • yea i do better in the driver's seat XD so i know that feeling

  • Haha. I love you Dale. I wish I was a good editor like you. I pride myself in being the worst editor on YouTube ;-) Sometimes I don't have anything to say...so I just watch at that point. But that's only sometimes, lol :-)

  • Thank you for 'pimping' me, VK!

I really don't mind boring vlogs all that much. They can be very 'real life,' which is wonderful. I just needed something to say whilst I had the three cameras! LOL

  • good advices! Maybe that's why I don't make vlogs- I'm just too borring for people to watch.

Oh and by the way- I really like your intro:)

  • Thanks Jolanta! I think that the person who put together an awesome video like "look through your window" can do whatever she puts her mind to. And do it WELL!

Even if you don't "vlog", please do more art pieces like 'window.' It was GREAT!

    :D

  • aww... Thanks! I'll try.

  • LOL Great advice. Loved it.

  • Thanks Russ!

    Deb, you LIE! haha

Your stuff is sweet and funny. Plus you bring flowers!
