One of the greatest players of his era. Its a damned shame that the Mariners didn't go out and get a closer back in the mid-90s. Had they done that, and with all the talent the Mariners had, their story would have been completely different.
Griffey should have retired with a couple of WS rings. Sadly, that never happened.
griffey is the best player ever he deserves everything and cant wait until hes inducted into the hall of fame and i hope one day i can meat not only the best player ever but my favorite player and role model
God he played 11 seasons in seattle and hit 400 homeruns, and played 8 with the reds and hit 200. imagine if he never was injured and you added an extra 160 home runs to the 200 with the reds.
In the future guys like Bonds, McGwire, and Sosa won't be smiling because they will always be looked down on with an asterisk. If that's what jerks want as a legacy, so be it.
@SinfulMessiah Very true but the reason Bonds and Mcgwire and most of those steroid users did it was so they wouldn't get hurt and continue hitting 50 homers every year, most those guys already had greaqt power (and im not saying that the steroids didn't give them an extra boost in their power because im sure it did) but being healthy for all those years is why they did them.
Yes, and I admire Griffey for always being a true athlete and never succumbing to the juice. I appreciate his play and character more than I do Bonds, and I do like Bonds a lot even though he was a hardcore user.
@2threezon3 hell ya yo when people say that Griffey is the best ever it isnt a joke or sarcasm, look at the lists...HE LITERALLY IS THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.
Griffey makes me cry...I wonder how he feels. Knowing that he could have easily beaten most of the hitting records today if he didn't get injured half the time.
if you think about it.....he spend 8 years in cincinnati...litterally, in half that amount of time in cincinnati, he was injured. who knows that if he'd been fully healthy, how many homers he'd be at by now
Griffey in my eyes is the greatest player of this half of the century... You'll never hear his name is the steriod scandel, and in 99' when McGwire was mashin homerun after homerun in the derby over the green monster, Griffey still came out as the victor! Amazing ball player
IIm 25 years old and I grew up in northern BC, Canada... I grew up idolizing Jr... He still as and always has been my hero lol... when I was 12years old I watched him play and it was one of the greatest days of my life... When I found out he went back I cant explain how excited i was... he's gonna finish his career where he belongs... I will be going to safeco this summer. I cant wait!
i'm 20 years old, from seattle. that made me feel so much nostalgia. i feel like i'm 70 reminiscing on the good old days. i don't know how to accurately describe how good i feel. we love you griffey.
Of course Griffey is going to the Hall of Fame. He has hit 600+ while being injured for the majority of the last few years. Hella gold gloves (can't remember) and he was one of the most exciting players in the 90's.
love tha swing, weightless arms and the explosion and power from his legs and hips. I idolized this man growing up and I can say he made me a better player. Only if he never hurt himself he would of been the greatest ball player to ever grace the field
im not a mariners fan by any stretch but i have always loved griffey and im so happy he is back home. just seeing him in green and blue one more time is going to me amazing.
Welsome home jr. ur gonna bring in fans and mayn i wish we had the old squad back we wer unbeatable.. ken griffey jr. joey cora alex rodriguez jay buhner dan wilson edgar martinez randy johnson
That's such a nice swing! You can really see the muscle in his legs pull the ball! THAT swing is now on OUR SIDE! WORLD SERIES HERE WE COME. :P I know, premature, but fans are allowed to fantasize. :P

I am glad to welcome back Griffey to Seattle! I'm sure he's remorseful and he has done his time for killing those dogs and all the dog fighting. Time to move on have the old Griffey back.
As a kid, their wasnt a single player in sports who I idolized more than I did Junior. I dont care if he bats .130 with no knocks, he'll still het a standing ovation, every at bat from me; he wont be around for ever, and Seattle fans are lucky to see this day come. Welcome home Junior!
Easy now, in all likelihood he is headed for the Braves. There's still a chance that he goes to the Mariners but it's looking more and more like he's a Brave in '09.
AJC even reported he'd chosen the Braves, but Griffey claims he hasn't made a decision yet. We should know by tomorrow at the latest.
Griffey has been an icon in seattle, and i would love to have him back, heck build a statue of him at safeco! but would the mariners want to spend like 5 million on a beat up player whose in his late career. as of 2009, wasnt our idea to build with youth?
who cares if hes not as good the last time he was on the m's, if he hits 260 with 25 home runs that would be way better than anybody did this year (except beltre) BRING GRIFFEY BACK!!
Ken Griffey Jr. has THE most perfect swing in baseball. I have manlove for him and always have. I am a huge fan of Ted Williams and I think that Jr. has the swing most similar.
