only Coen Brothers film i dont like. it was way too confusing and i didn't get a feel the characters. however it was funny.

BTW best coen brothers film= The Big Lebowski!

Personally, I think that this is a far more sophisticated, misanthropic and tightly written film than 'Lebowski'. Not that 'Lebowski' wasn't hilarious, it was just lacking a tight and macabre farcical energy that 'Reading' so effortlessly emits.

This was one of the rare instances where I returned a movie back to the store without finishing it. After about an hour, I lost all interest.  I tried to stick with it - I really did. But it was just....just... lame. It wasn't witty or clever. It wasn't engaging. It was nothing.

That's true. I might have to watch it twice. But it's not like listening to a song twice, it's a 90 minute movie. I like movies that have a point. I understand there are some subtleties in the movie, but I think they are retroactive explanations.

That was a really good movie. I liked the degredation of the characters. Pitt was hilarious and Malkovich is genius with his crazy guy bit. The story kept me intrigued I think mostly because the characters were so interesting that I kept wanting to see what was going to happen next.

I just remember seeing the previews before it came out and seeing brad pitt as a goofy exercise instructor something totally different than what we're use to. It looked funny as hell...and he was funny as hell.

This is such a good movie, I love the Coen Brothers there sense of humour is odd but works so well. Stand out preformance John Malkovich you dont wana mess with him. JK Simmions was gold. Brads character was brilliant I think he did a really good job, everything about him was so funny. I loved the plot people say it didnt really go anywhere and they dont care for the characters I dont agree. it all spun out of control and you want to know how the maddness ends. acting brilliant all round

Hmm - well I saw the movie myself and I think this RevYOU is very accurate. I went with two people who really liked it, but then I thought it wasn't very good. If your friend LOVES the Coen Brothers, then go. If not, probably a rental at this point.

I understand that the Coen Brothers are a "genius" as some people may know but a movie like this is a mockery of the CIA but is supposed to make sense. Other movies that are based off other serious movies are an exception but this one ends abruptly even the the through-line is articulated by J.K. Simmons. Do yourself a favor fans and turn back around to your car and drive home. You'll have a better time watching ZOO than what your about to involve yourself with here.

Agreed.  This plot is actually easier to follow than most of their other films too. If you can't follow it, then maybe something like the Mummy 3 or Disaster Movie is more up your ally.
