I agree there should be a training requirement in order to obtain a conceal carry permit. The reason I support this, is: 1. I am a trainer and 2. A trained conceal carry holder is one who will react with competent skill and be more likely to neutralize the threat responsibly. I know for a fact, here in Colorado, there are a ton of ccw holders who rarely carry and almost never train. I feel they should have to train every month, I know I do.
I think its safe to assume that insight makes money by providing training to optain the permits, so its understandable that they would oppose this kind of reform, however I actually dont think they should worry. Such a meausure would probably only increase the popularity of gun ownership, and in the long only help them (though they may have to shift emphasis). Its also good to hear that Gun Owners in Illinois are not resinged to their fate, lets all make sure we emulate that attitude.
