Although Luis & Leontina's performance does not come to the level of interpretation by Placido Domingo & Angela Gheorghiu, their performance is with no doubt one of the most natural play in the role of Don Jose & Micaela I thus far saw.

Luis Lima, que grande en esta epoca, maravillosa voz, impresionante en Teatros grandes. A pesar de que parece que no tuvo el reconocimiento debido, seguro que sí, siempre le recordaran en Viena en: Boheme, Cavalleria, Don Carlo, Lucia, Comtes D'Hoffman etc.etc.

I have heard the same comment about Ileana Cotrubas who for many years was considered the best Micaela. I love the innocence and sweet tone of this soprano. Micaela es supposed to be a young provincial girl, nothing to do with tha contrasting Carmen, vulgar, beautiful and enticing.

I have this dvd, I love Luis Lima is an ardent and really touching Don Jose, but Vaduva is out of her range in this role i think, this a liryc soprano part
