  • Hello buddy, do you know? if here in Peru there is that tool? if yes please tell me soon.

  • @drywallcollinsperu What a roto-zip is is basically a small router, I have to believe you have those there, the bits may have to be ordered online but that should not be that hard to get+++Bob

  • Thanks for these videos. Extremely helpful!

  • Like the video however I would like to see you cut to a close up of the rotozip cutting the drywall.

Perhaps once you start, pause, move camera to the right so your hands are not blocking our view of the rotozip procedure.

  • @inauspiciousominous You make that video and I will watch it.+++Bob

  • Very useful video, thanks!

  • thanks bob, good info in the videos.

  • True, it works for a once in a blue moon tool. By the way good router job on the drywall Bob!

  • u can get a ryobi version of the roto zip for 40 bucks at home depot

  • @oldsoldier17 Id never spend that, do your self a favour and get the DeWalt, iv had mine for 4 years and its still rocking strong, i use it everyday at work. This tool is a joke

  • @Lastbreath187 I see your point if thats what you do for a living however I personally have bought "Knock-off tools" to get me by on home projects where the use would only be once in a blue moon. Thanks for watching+++Bob

  • Hey Bob The Roto Zip is A peice of junk, buy dewalt,

  • Roto zip basicly the same as a Dremel?

  • Nice and helpful~

  • Wow, GREAT instructional video!! Thanks!

  • Excellent instructional video -- much much appreciated. Thank you!

  • MUCHAS GRACIAS AMIGO [ EVERY BODY NEED TO LEARN ] " DIOS TE BENDIGA "

    THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • Excellent series of how-to videos Bob. Thanks!

  • Thank you, great videos!

  • Now thats how you teach...saw all three videos...Best instruction I've had on

    drwalling basics...keep up good teaching...

  • Would have been nice if we could actually see the cuts being made.

  • Very thanks!!!

  • Having installed drywall for 30 plus years, I find the RotoZip is the absolute quickest and simplest way to do cutouts. Though, I prefer using the RotoZip carbide tile cutting bit and not the drywall bit, which have a tendency to snap when pushed too hard. Creating more drywall dust is the only drawback in using the carbide bit, but time is money

  • Thank you for the refresher course :) Rob

  • Thank you for the refresher course :) Robert G

  • Very useful,,,thanks.

  • I just bought this tool and to be honest, not impressed just yet but in time, I will learn to enjoy it. We have a cabin that I am installing sheetrock in and I destroyed 4 plastic boxes with plug ins alreacy installed. Guess I need to feel my way around each of those plastic boxes

  • Great Video. Does that router come in a gas operated model? Currently electricity is a low priority for me.

And I like the fact that you are demonstrating how to do things, right after you explain it.

Of course, like all of us human beings, you could use improvement, (Though here I could not see where), who could not? God's about the only one.

Thank You for the video, the explanation, and the demonstration.

Wonderful Video. Thanks for the instructions.

  • I own a battery Dewalt, don't know about a gas opperated..

  • very basic question...

i have mounted electrical boxes and hung drywall in the past, but never with the rotozip. when cutting the drywall as you demonstrated, do you hang the box flush to the stud, or offset from the stud so it would be flush with the drywall? the reason I ask is I question how you cut the outside of the box when it is mounted to the stud.

    thanks1

  • The box will project out beyond the stud to the typical depth, when you route around it you can still feel the edge of the box on the stud side. You just need to allow bit to run a bit shallower.+++ Bob

  • Bob, to me you are a true professional and I learned alot from this video. I would rather learn from you than from some of these Phsyco idiots that come out of the wood work or drywall. Thanks for sharing this demo.

  • Glad to hear you are learning earthling ,Now "TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER!"+++Bob

  • You're amazing. Just hung a bathroom in a 100 year old house. Just think its hilarious that professional drywallers are watching you for pointers... Your teaching methods are very easy to follow and it is clear to anyone that has ever done construction that you know what you are doing. Thanks for being patient with us.

  • Too bad I couldn't see the cutting action from a side view - for a complete novice, all I see is his back while cutting and I'd like to see the cutting while its being done.

  • Thanks for this video Bob, now tell me, what do you think about the Blade Runner from Goldblatt to cut drywall ? Is it worth buying ?

  • I am familiar with the blade runner and even considered a video of it, but decided against it because most of what it does can be done with tools that already exist and what it could make easier is generally only in pretty infrequent situations, may be useful to have for a pro maybe who does more commercial work than residential Hope this helped and don't hesitate to disagree+++Bob

  • thanks for the video!

I never hang SR before. I will practice with my garage before starting my house. I have couple of questions.

What size of nails are better or should I use screws? also which side of the sheet rock should face outside? the white part or the yellow/gray part?

    thanks

  • I have a video about nails and screws and spacing called "ANCHORING DRYWALL" Generally the white side goes out, another way to check , there is a taper at the seem on the show side of the board Hope this helped +++Bob

  • I found one of these rotozips outside of my wife's aunt's house on the ground. it looked like it had been there for quite a while a year or 2 maybe. Her husband is reknown for not taking care of his tools. The bit was broken off and rusted pretty solid in the chuck. I took it home thoroughly cleaned out the inside wire wheeled the rust off the armature etc. and after a few HOURS of trying and prying finally got the chuck loose and the broken bit out. I can't wait to use it. It has been rescued!

  • your video is very good

    thanks

  • Great series! I went out and bought a roto-zip after watching this clip. What an amazing tool - and not just for drywall. THANKS!

I have to ask again though - what is that song? I hear it on the weekends when I watch my favorite outdoor shows too. It's killing me to know what that music is from.

    Thanks again for the clips!

  • You are indeed good at what you do and I was able to do a small project . It came out good. I followed your instruction. thanks.

  • You explain well.

  • Will a dremel work the same as a rotozip?

  • You know I have never tried it.I would imagine if the dremel would fit the zip-bit I don't see why it would'nt.Let me know. Thanks+++Bob

  • I have a dremel and it will do this job just as good as a rotozip. There is a much bigger range of bits available for a dremel than there is for a rotozip including a drywall cutter and a general purpose cutter. You can also get a cordless dremel which is excellent.

  • i am a drywaller and if thats all the faster you work i would fire you also the rotozip is a piece of crap and wont last my advice spend ten more bucks and get the dewalt!! and if you dont know what side of the sheet goes out dont try and hang your house i mean thats first day stuff!!!!

  • Well its a good thing I don't work for you then! LOL In my youth, a helper and myself could hang 70+ a day complete screwed and beaded. Those days are long behind me now,and thankfully so.We will pay in our old age for what we do to our body today Take Care!+++Bob

  • Well, that's kinda stupid. I'm sure when your drywalling you don't have to take the time to explain how to do things to a beginner. It's great that you have the time, also, to sit online and "type" crap about other peoples video as well as continue your career in drywalling.

  • i am a drywaller as well.you have to understand that he was explaining things while doing em.

  • The Dremel roto is a $15 attachment with guides and bits - no worries about using the Zip branded bits in the Dremel chuck. Big problem is gypsum dust into the vents of the Dremel can eat it up - I wrap cloth around mine to keep the dust out of the motor. The Rotozip is made for the drywall dust. For home use the Dremel attachment is nice. I rarely use more than a keyhole saw though as I am used to cutting the boxes that way.

  • YOU DA MAN BOB!

  • awesome i just learned about the rotozip today at work i installed my firt peice today and it was awesome

  • The dust can be bad, make sure if you do it on a daily basis you wear some style dust protection+++Bob

  • im the best with that tool

  • Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i am about to install a hood fan vent and needed some tips on cutting the drywal in a round shape.that video really helped me.thanks.

  • perfect! just what i needed!

  • Great explanation of the rotazip.

  • Thank you!

  • i find that measuring and using the keywhole saw 2 be alot faster xD

  • Great video series 1-3. Thank you for sharing these. It is better to see being done than reading about it. I like that each is about 6 min. or less too.

  • Great detail Bob. Well organized, presented and edited. Exactly what I was looking for.

    Thanks!

  • Great video thank you

  • Great help! Thanks!

We just bought a house that needs much work. I'll be looking at your channel a lot.

  • Excellent presentation. Thank you very much. The idea of making long duration video, even splitted in three parts because of YT restrictions, was a very good one. It gives plenty of time to show all the details.
