I haven't heard this song in ages! I don't ever remember watching the video, but I do remember it had plenty of airtime. I didn't even know they were Canucks. We have so much talent. Canada rocks!!!!!
The Tenant's and the Spoons both were underrated and virtually unknown to most. If it weren't for a tv show called MV3(a'la American Bandstand for New Wave kids) that came on the Tele in Detroit I never would have heard of either.
It wasnt talent that stopped them --- it was a disagreement between members... It happens to everyone... just some disputes are solved.... would be so nice to see them together again.
@terryberry48 alot of people thought that.....including me.....i think i find out about 5 or 6 years ago ..... Definately a one hit wonder, i've heard their other stuff and it sucks compared to this song.
The song reminds me of the time I was evicted from my place in Nantucket. Sheriff Bretschneider evicted me. The landlord was a corrupt POS. I guess paying for rent with what little money I did make didn't appeal to the landlord.
Hello all , I was the lead singer in the tenants, thanks for listening. Please feel free to check out my new band TEAK RIVERS AND THE HANDSOME SHADOWS. Take Care GARY BROWN
OK, this is a catchy song, but does anyone else see it as a blantant knock-off of pretty much anything written by the Police? From the shored, chorus-infused Andy-Summers-esque guitar playing to the Sting-esque "eeeaaaoooo"s during the chorus. There is no question who their influence is...
hey man, don't complain, anything that sounds like The Police is a compliment... but ya yur totally right....still, this song always puts me in a good mood.
The Tenants' album does share similar melody and style with the Police. But I think they just happened to think alike, musically. The Tenants' debut album came out in 1982, prior to of the Police's 1983 album Syncronicity. I remember first hearing the Tenants on the radio. And although some, back then, thought they sounded like the Police, that never occured to me. I just thought the Tenants had a new wave, unrefined edge. The Police, to me, were a well produced superband... lol.
Great melody a la "Echo Beach" along the A minor G major chord progression. I love this song and I love putting in fills and solos for hours and hours.I had forgotten this song for almost 25 years until this posting.I love 80's melodic pop and rock.
Totally Awesome! What a rush of wonderful memories! You just can't beat the 80's. Haven't heard this in over 25-26 years! Some really wonderful Canadian bands in the 80's! Thanks so much for posting! Bring back the 80's....please! Cheers!
My best budy Steph shoot me the video and this is great souvenir. Gret sound, great voice, very unique. I purchased the album in those years and still have it. Most of the song on it are great! I just started my 40's and it reminds me how fast time goes. Thanks for this!
Can someone tell me if "Schoolgirl" is on You Tube ..can't find it. Loved that one.

Ironic that the Police's first hit was Landlord? Nice cover band though.

It sounds just like the Police, this group. Even the way the guy sings is just like Sting.

I still have the LP. While the band was not a huge success, it just shows how great the 80's were to have such bands fly under the radar.
