Looked like a punch followed by a push...I don't doubt that it's powerful for what it is, it was just a bit obvious that you slightly pushed it with your fist.
@kc550 I understand what you're saying, but it's definitely difficult to move an object of that weight without pushing through a bit. If you watch Bruce Lee perform the punch, you'll see that he pushes a bit as well. I actually was a bit unhappy with that strike myself and I filmed another attempt, but when I went to edit, I found that the camera must have been on standby...so I didn't have the footage. I might give it another go one day.
@RamblinAround I've seen people rip phone books through trickery and bending them a certain way, but I feel like I have also seen people poke through them. Do you know anything about that Ninja'ry? LOL
I've enjoyed this series. This was all "Greek" to me beforehand. Since my fridge has been acting up lately, I wouldn't mind a little practice of my own.
@lilmb94 Sure, you can definitely learn from watching others whether it be in person or on video. The benefit of a live instructor is that they can offer you feedback as you go along, like making small adjustments to your stance or hand position. However, if you find some quality video instruction and then practice it diligently, you can become fairly proficient at techniques on your own. For self-defense, you can also gain an advantage by simply getting into better physical condition.
@cisjohn2616 Very true, too many guys go for the big haymaker right off the bat. You're generally better off if you sling a quick, straight punch to their nose to get them off their game plan and then follow up with something more substantial. When you develop good short range power, it allows you to be very deceptive. For instance, you can begin extending your open hand slowly in front of you, as if you're asking them to stop.......but at the last moment you cant accelerate into a strike.
@TheLionsDenNews Thanks for watching Andy. It really is difficult to perform the one inch punch effectively. I plan to do a video on it at some point as well.
@woodzo40 LoL, it's a good way to get the frustration out. I was proud of myself for using some restraint. I was going to punch my refrigerator in the kitchen, but I thought this was probably a better idea.
try aiming you wrist down and then snap it back up during that period it builds up more momentum

What did that freezer do to you ? Not a thing ! LOL.

@coolkat902 The cool thing about punching a freezer is that if you hurt your hand, you can just open the door and stick it the ice for a bit.

I wanted to know, is it possible to learn fighting moves by watching videos and then repeating? Just for self-defense.
Thanks!
