Battle ready swords are too few to offer in stores everywhere, so they sit in the warehouses of the online sword stores (KultofAthena, Swordnarmory, etc) after being imported from the forges in China. The only real life store I can think of is Kultofathena, who in addition to their online store, have a real store in Elgin, Ilinois. So yeah, you won't be able to "take" a sword unless you find the warehouse

I heard a lot of people have been wondering where they can get battle ready katana. Even though a lot of you probably have no clue how to use one, I will let you on a little secret. There's a site called Trueswordsdotcom and they have the CAS Hanwei Tactical Katana and Tactical Wakizashi for sale. Not the prettiest blades, but they're probably the most bang for your buck in the under-300 price range. You can get both the Katana and Wakizashi on trueswords for a total of only about $250+S&H. :D

Actualy if you were watching close the with that cheap katana he didnt even hit the bottles with the blade he hit them with the side which is why it broke. I first ever katana was a cheap little 20 dollar thing and it was made the same way yet didnt break for years and I cut down trees with it the size of a human arm. But yeah Full-Tang Katana is the way to go if you really wanna do some dammage. I once saw a kids hands clean-cut off by a full-tang katana... was amazing.

That "specialist" should learn how to use a Katana. It's no commun sword and neither an axe. Most effect is done by cutting with it within the slash.

I understand that Most Samurai swords were actually made of Tomahagane, not Damascus, also im pretty sure a traditional katana made of tomahagane would be tougher than damascus. Btw tomahagane is special because of the way they make it, its folded and everything but they use burning sand in the forge, which does something i forgot... But i know it's special!

@TheSuperBuscuit I have a European double edged sword, hand crafted, cost 300 USD, got an okay price, but as far as strength and destruction goes, the katana may be quicker and more precise but mine will go through 3 inches of would without any type of noticeable affect, as far as precision and speed goes, the katana would be best, but for a zombie apocalypse I'd prefer mine because anything it can't cut it normally has the strength to crush.
