It would need to be connected in the USB, LPT/LTP, External Ethernet, and AUX In ports, though to be effective in running the startup commands normally initiated from the panel under the power button.

im just curious, i liked the old method simply because it could select any .exe file, meaning you didnt have to make it just shutdown, i could be out of my house and decide to text my computer to turn on my cam and yawcam to detect motions, by texting security, or to close the window so i wouldnt get alerted via opening my door, is there any other method or texting and email to respond with an action matching words other than outlook because it costs?

why not just use Microsoft Outlook ?

Steps:

1Create a text file named "shutdown.bat"... the file would have "Only" this line in it:

shutdown s t 00

2open outlook, click on Tools, then click on rules and alerts

3click on new rule, and have that rule "start application" which is the "shutdown.bat

*just remember when making the rule **if using a shutdown "special word" ensure you don't use a common phrase

this way keeps you from downloading, also keeps twitter from having unnecessary accounts

i downloaded version 2 i can download it without a prob but once i get it downloaded and installed i cant run it as a administrator and i cant get the program to run properly when i enter my user name and pass and click close and save it comes up with a dilog box that tells me an unhandeld exception has orcurred and it then restarts and the same problem occurs. now the web page tells me i can still download version 1 ( the one u used) but i cant find the link. could u check and findout for me

I've actually made a video about making shortcuts for timing and aborting a shutdown.

Besides...

you don't need to declare the full path. just type in shutdown -s -t 00 for instant shutdown

You should not quote it, otherwise it will look at it as the path to the program.

If you are running Win 7, you can right click the program -> properties -> compatibility -> tick off "Run as administrator", So you wouldn't have to right click, and then click run as admin always.

if you are then you could try creating an abort shutdown icon on your desktop.
