I want to make sure that everyone knows that Maia Campbell is a victim of a mental illness. Her famous novelist mother, Bebe Moore Campbell wrote a book about a mother dealing with a child with a mental illness called 72 Hour Hold. It was inspired by her real life struggle to deal with Maia's schizophrenia. Google it.
According to Maia's family, she refuses to take her medication for the illness and she is also suffering from severe substance abuse.
I am a mother of a 27 yr old son who suffers from mental illness. It was drug induced 9 yrs ago. His so called "friend" slipped something in his drink @ a senior party. My son wasn't an average child. He was an honor student from grade k-12. I started noticing signs 3months before his graduation. (He would have been Validictorian) He had 2 be home schooled But he graduated(he didn't walk w/his class or receive the academic honors he should have.
I hope that your son get the best help and I hope you pray. I am sad that this has been a part of his life and yours. Please do research and find out what yu can do. Dont just rely on doctors.

Update. I just read on blackweb2.0 that as of Tuesday 9/8 she is in treatment. She's been going downhill for years, and then her mom died in 2006, and now she's fallen hard! This has been going on and only getting worse. I think that this recent video made people realize that she really needs help...and somebody or persons stepped up to get her the help that she desperately needs! I'm keeping you in my prayers Maia.

I know Maia has some mental issues, and I don't know if that video was showing a result of a combination of mental issues and drugs, or just mental issues alone; but it's incredibly sad. The woman needs help, not exploitation. I feel bad for even watching it. Like many others, I also don't feel she's to far gone, but she's far enough for people (friends and family) to do their best to help, not saying they aren't trying. Maia's mom BeBe Moore Campbell was a famous author and one of my favorites. She died of a brain tumor a few years back and I know it has been hard for Maia. Please dont make fun of her hardship guys. Its got to be hard to loose a loved one on top of having emotional/mental health issues. Maia, IMO was on of the most beautiful young actresses of the 90's. She is still pretty but you can tell she is not taking care of herself. I hope her family gets her some help. I did not see chris on tv.

It is A -OK to make fun, taunt, and exploit. Maybe I'm just a cynical person. But I can care less about people with addictions, criminals. They all can suffer for the rest of their lives. I want to make sure that everyone knows that Maia Campbell is a victim of a mental illness. Her famous novelist mother, Bebe Moore Campbell wrote a book about a mother dealing with a child with a mental illness called 72 Hour Hold. It was inspired by her real life struggle to deal with Maia's schizophrenia. Google it.
According to Maia's family, she refuses to take her medication for the illness and she is also suffering from severe substance abuse.

I am a mother of a 27 yr old son who suffers from mental illness. It was drug induced 9 yrs ago. His so called "friend" slipped something in his drink @ a senior party. My son wasn't an average child. He was an honor student from grade k-12. I started noticing signs 3months before his graduation. (He would have been Validictorian) He had 2 be home schooled But he graduated(he didn't walk w/his class or receive the academic honors he should have.

Larry King is getting too old to be interviewing people anyway. He is out of the loop, and it is hard to interview people when you are not really familiar with their body of work.
...Maia was also in Jaheim's first 2 videos. And you are right, she needs prayer and what bothered me most about that vid was that people heard her say she was going to get beat up, and they allowed the guy to drive off with her as they laughed.

It is unfortunate that the video of Maia Campbell was put out. That is embarassing and a shame that someone would record that and post it for the world to see. I couldn't help but wonder why that man was laughing at her. I didn't see what was funny. I hope she is able to pull through but what I read in the news is that she does not like to take her medication and that the street drugs and marijuana that she uses only makes her condition worse. Maybe she is not too far gone to turn around.

Update. I just read on blackweb2.0 that as of Tuesday 9/8 she is in treatment. She's been going downhill for years, and then her mom died in 2006, and now she's fallen hard! This has been going on and only getting worse. I think that this recent video made people realize that she really needs help...and somebody or persons stepped up to get her the help that she desperately needs! I'm keeping you in my prayers Maia.

The depressed states can be very depressed to suicidal thinking. That Chris Brown interview was terrible. You know what you do to a star who won't talk about the current thing happening with them? You refuse the interview in the first place if you have any integrity. That's probably why no one good did the interview. No one else would agree to Chris Brown's terms.

i'm over Chris Brown...but i saw the vids of her yesterday and i felt soo bad for her & the ish wasn't funny...i wish some of her real friends or family would reach out to her & get her some help...it just breaks my heart when ppl are going thru something ish & have nobody to turn to but drugs & others take advantage for them b/c of that...it's sad...

My sentiments exactly! I saw the video of Maia and my heart totally went out to her! She did mention losing her mother in her rant on that video...which I'm sure has a lot to do with her behavior. That was soo sad to see. Having people in my family who have succumbed to that lifestyle, my heart really goes out to her.

As soon as I saw that damn bow tie CB had on I knew the whole interview was going to be a summary of the facade his publicist has cooked up for his new image.
I saw just the video of MC =( All those dudes need to be castrated. I just ordered 72 hour hold, can't wait to read it to get some insight on what may have happened. Every1 that thinks this is humurous is miserable in some sort of way & are glad to have company. I wish her the strength she will need to get better.

JIA, That Marta girl freestyling made me laugh more than I have in a long time. I used to tell my employees that part "You thought I wasnt gon freestyle on you boo!!" when laughing at the Police chasing folks-haha.. ( I worked for 911 for9yrs) I lost my job last yr and miss my peeps but this brought back memories & made my day- THANKS!!

From my what I heard, Oprah didn't want to interview Chris Brown but CNN did. But I am personally tired of hearing about the whole sitaution. I know that he was wrong for what he did even though Rihanna is not 100% innocent either; I just think need to move on.
The only thing I could say about Maia Campbell is that is a sad situation and I hope things get better.

Jia.If you can Please let your viewers know that it is ILLEGAL to EXPLOIT the mentally ill and please let people know that if they wish they can report what happened to the L.A district attorney's site.Maia does have rights and if nothing else the individuals recording her may be bought to justice or will know that taping her and putting her on display like that was illegal.If nothing else this behavior needs to be discouraged.

I know Maia has some mental issues, and I don't know if that video was showing a result of a combination of mental issues and drugs, or just mental issues alone; but it's incredibly sad. The woman needs help, not exploitation. I feel bad for even watching it. Like many others, I also don't feel she's to far gone, but she's far enough for people (friends and family) to do their best to help, not saying they aren't trying. All one could do is pray for her well being, especially for her child.

Maia's mom BeBe Moore Campbell was a famous author and one of my favorites. She died of a brain tumor a few years back and I know it has been hard for Maia. Please dont make fun of her hardship guys. Its got to be hard to loose a loved one on top of having emotional/mental health issues. Maia, IMO was on of the most beautiful young actresses of the 90's. She is still pretty but you can tell she is not taking care of herself. I hope her family gets her some help. I did not see chris on tv.

I really felt bad when i saw the Maia Campbell video of her like that. I felt like crying because I know she needs help and I pray her family or friends will help her get better. As far as Chris Brown, I really wish that they would drop the topic, its old news now and it's like the media has nothing else to talk about. Larry King don't know how to pull info out. Instead of being general and saying "what happened that night", he should've been more direct and said "I heard the argument started over some text messages.." something specific that Chris Brown would have to address.
And the Maia Cambell situation is unfornunate. I have an aunt around her age that's on drugs so I know what drugs can do to people. And those men are wrong for exploiting her.

I really felt for Maia Campbell, it really was heart breaking to see her in that situation...i use to really look up to her bc she was a Beautiful Black woman doing it for the chocolate ladies. I also believe in the power of prayer but not just for her bc she is a celebrity, but for all the sisters, mothers, daughters, wives, aunts, grandmothers, cousins , friends out there who are fighting this uphill battle with drugs!!!

It seemed Chris wasn't comfortable @ all. I asked myself "Why the hell is he doing this if he's not comfortable with the questions or Larry King for that matter?" I agree Diane Sawyer-(or someone else) will make Chris comfortable enough 2 get something out of him, because I couldn't make it through 10 mins of the interview. Maia Campbell, I'm gonna pray 4 her, many people come up on hard times & I hope & pray she recieves help 2 get her feet back on solid ground.
