@eljosegarci Se nota que no sabes nada de autos.... este carro utiliza menos combustible que una F-150 de gasolina o me vas a decir que no sabías que los motores diesel son más limpios que los de gasolina aún con el humo negro que se ve salir del escape?
@DIENAMICProductions have you done that to a car? have you ever droped an engine block and made it work, wired it to the harness, mounted the transmission. shove a differential in to the back end of a car? nope didnt think so
@DIENAMICProductions have you done that to a car? have you ever droped an engine block and made it work, wired it to the harness, mounted the transmission. shove a differential in to the back end of a car? nope didnt think so
so YOU call it a gn,and from the back it looks like a gn.am i wrong to tell you "butchered",didn't think so,I'm rarely wrong,so here is a gutless with a diesel everyone
@koretell It even says in the description "This is actually an Oldsmobile chasis that was converted into a Grand National looking Buick." I even copy/pasted that from the description. Apparently you rarely read either.
@koretell U think so, this was an Oldsmobile Cutlass turned into this GN looking beast, I really dont think it was butchered but mort like it was reborn...
All these redknecks that think smoke is okay for the environment because it "settles to the ground" should think about the soot "settling in their lungs." Besides, smoke means high EGT and that means cooked turbos.
sweet car man love the conversion would like to try it myself i have an 88 cutlass sitting in the shop just cant pick a motor for her like the vid and yes i read the description before commenting!! like some people should do!! you have any tips for a conversion like this the motor not the replica of a gn anyways nice video man
I highly doubt this is a redneck conversion.... it seems to be a moving vehicle after all. This is a cool idea. And I'm sure the fuel economy cruising at highway speed is better than any shitbox rice burner. The ignorant comments just show how little you internet mechanics really know. Do yourself a favor, go turn a wrench on something for once rather than just commenting on shit you have NO CLUE about. +1,000 on getting a tuner for this beast!
@filthy250 I completely agree, the vehicle's official web site states that this car is running 19mpg on highway, that's 4 more than the 15mpg the stock 307ci V8 can give Very impressive to me....
@MotoX179 Thats what Im getting once my 08 rolls 160,000KMS. But only because I need to ditch the can (DPF), straight pipe it, Do a S&E Intake, and then a set of guages (Boost, Pyro, and fuel pressure (Rail pressure)
Much better than the turbo v6 original powerplant. Probably a neck breaker, cool conversion. If thats stock, put a tuner on it and hold on for dear life.
@FANADICALCOWHEAD Never said i like body kits, but i like when a engine goes forward instead of pulling out smoke, only rednecks thinks its cool others think its retarded because it looks like the engine is broke and that you guys think its awesome
Pulling out smoke or BLOWING out smoke? It's a diesel it's gonna smoke... That engine has enough torque to rip your little rice box in half. Everyone has preferences though
@T0BBi94 Anyone who has owned a diesel will know, that The Smoke coming from the exhaust is Unburnt fuel and Soot. Thats it. Its not as bad for the environment as your VTEC, because it is denser than air and settles back down to the ground. Thus, reducing the greenhouse gasses by a LongShot.
@MotoX179 Look up "The Great Smoke" of London in 1952. A weather inversion trapped particulates from coal fired power plants, the same type of particulates as those that make up diesel smoke, and killed 4000 people over a period of 4 days. Soot has also been proven to cause cancer. By your logic, coal fired power plants should turn their big smoke stacks towards the ground. So why don't they? Why do they build stacks higher and higher? Because it is common sense that breathing smoke is unhealthy
@werdupboyee If I remember correctly, it was called the "black plague". If you put a diesel beside a gas motor, the exhaust Gasses from the Gas would be much more toxic. Your correct, any kind of exhaust gas is toxic, because to the human body, any kind of Fossil Fuel is toxic.
Many years ago I got an '81 Cutty supreme diesel in very good shape that I converted into a gasoline engine street/strip car. At the time I started the project I didn't realize that being a diesel meant no catalytic converter. Later when the exhaust system was installed no CC's were added. Not sure if it was legal without them, but I could argue that the exhaust system, was in essence, the same as from the factory.
@2004HEMIkid50 But thats beauity of it. Its not a true GN he says its a Olds, probably a cutlass, converted to LOOK like one . From this rear picture all I can see was a can of sryay paint used to black out the tail light chrome and around the rear glass and bumper. I own a 1987 GN and a 1984 T-Type. so I can feel your pain.
@2004HEMIkid50 A GNX is not a Grand National. It is a package that was offered in 87-89 I believe. The discription even says it's an olds that has been converted to LOOK like a Grand National. Not trying to be a dick here, but too many people will post WITHOUT reading the discription.
this was a daily driver car anbuilt around CA smog rules tha is why an olds cutlass diesel vin chassis was used so an equivalent 'newer' diesel driveline could be swapped, smog ref approved and inspected/pass visual/tailpipe for CA. owner is in CA. All quarter panels, doors, trim from buick were grafted on. BIG project not for show only. it has CA tags on it
@05EVORS How did they manage to that. From all the info I can find, CA smog rules state that the new engine has to be from the same weight class, I,e; from a vehicle that is under 7700 lbs GVW for cars and 1/2 ton trucks. The duramax was only available in the 3/4 ton trucks on up. I would love to duramax my Suburban, but it is 1/2 ton, and my only options are the 6.2 or 6.5TD.
@waynerzman Mid 12's with street radials and with daily driver setup since this car is a daily commuter running an average of 29mpg city - 36 highway. To me that's pretty respectable.....
why waste a heavy duty pulling motor...that car probably hardly sees more than 6 to 700 pounds max....that diesel is made for serious hauling...not dragging and driving through town all day...bet fuel mileage increased dramatically...have to make any transmission mods.
@montanachevy Well, the car is not a daily driver, it's more of a showoff car and I believe that the whole point in this experiment is not economy but to show that it could be done.
@montanachevy I dont see the problem, especially since 70% of people who buy diesel trucks now a days only want to slap big tires, lifts, tacky stacks, and see how much smoke they can make. Im with you that diesels should be for working, but most diesel trucks these days are only used to show off and commute. I personally love seeing projects like this. Almost makes me want to take on one myself. Plus , Im sure this car hauls ass or easily has the potential to.
Absolutley Brilliant idea. You hear of people converting old trucks and Burbs to Cummings, or Duramax, but first time I ever I seen someone consider it to a car. That's bad ass !!!

Way lot more, in fact you might be surprised to know that this cas is not even a Buick, it was originally an Olsmobile Cutlass Supreme turned into this!!!
Unfortunately this aint my car, just posted the vid cause I like it however It's interesting the way you think, I believe that stuffing a 454 v8 in there would make this just another muscle car in the bunch... Just my thoughts you know...peace...

I agree, at first I was too but I entered the car's website and saw the project pictures and confirmed that there is in fact a 6.6 litre duramax stuffed in there...

Unfortunately this aint my car, just posted the vid cause I like it however It's interesting the way you think, I believe that stuffing a 454 v8 in there would make this just another muscle car in the bunch... Just my thoughts you know...peace...
