  • Elton actually intended to release this song with him singing both parts, but was talked out of it!

  • this is not human...too good..

  • i <3 elton john

  • Where did you take this video? Can please someone tell me which VHS or DVD contains it? Thanks so much.

  • @merlok1995 I think you can get this at saturn records dot com.I think they have the complete concert(which is what this is taken from)or the edited one they shown on tv..

  • Wonderful voice...this concert really is Elton at his peak.

  • @Quixoticlump eltons peak was in 1984 check out the wembley concert, it was freaking amazing

  • @Villeneuve27 I was at the that tour and yes it was good! But the single man tour was even more amazing,as was the concert in 1981 I saw at the Hollywood Bowl! By 1984 although he still had it! You could hear that his voice was getting a bit ragged and 3 years later it went! Heavy coke, alcohol, and singing in a higher octave's than he needed to in a lot of his music will do that to yah!

  • holy shit!! no band, not even Ray Cooper on percussion & Elton is in PERFECT time! & he sings both his & Kiki's parts (those high notes!). Captain Fucking Fantastic indeed!!!

  • its just falsetto. It's his own voice.

  • The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music

  • how funny

  • is it weird that I prefer him bald?

  • probably the lack of vanity.

  • i guess it is vanity, but he started going bald very young (around 25yo) so i can understand him having issues about it

  • @pudljumper probably so,like it is for Burt Reynolds,William Shatner,Little Richard and Sam Donaldson.

  • his voice(S) are gifts of god!!!lol!how he looks at lyrics before he sings!

  • I don't think it's lyrics (too short), it's the set list which he now tends to have taped to the piano. He references a hand-written set list just before Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me for this concert. Now he tends to have the set list taped to the front of the piano.

  • @judmurph And he does use a teleprompter now! And that was the lyrics that drug induced unfamiliarity with newer songs would do to him!

  • I adore you, Elton, melody still accompanies you to this day

  • what an artist ! he looks like he is in his pijamas! this is a leader i love him.

  • "So don't go breaking my heart...KIKI YEAH" what a genious! :D

  • Elton John 29 years old on this video

  • Elton doesn't need Kiki..

  • "Don't go breaking my heart.. KIKI.." =D

Great solo performance of that duet actually. :) Ofcourse Elton could pull it off ! :)

  • love his voice!

  • OMG! he sung it himself.? lol.

    & doesnt he have hair?

  • The hair abandoned him around 1973.

  • awesome!!!

  • amazing! few people could entertain such a large crowd with just a piano and a microphone, but of course Elton could pull it off! If only I was about 30 years older, maybe I could have been there...

  • Easy stuff from a piano child prodigy, starting at 3, composing shortly thereafter and then on to the The Royal Academy of Music!

    A National Treasure!

  • this one was simply the best perfomance that Elton ever did :] incredible voice

  • loool...huge glasess..respect elton

  • lmso my brother has glasses like that

  • "I'm gonna try something that it's gonna be quite out of the ordery and mad and totally ridicolous" haha on my opinion he wasn't 100% sure to perform it, he decided to do it in that moment!

and it's everything but ridiculous, it's SO AWESOME!!

  • I would most certainly agree with you!! In fact, he is just as fabulous today in the year of 2009!! Do you know if he still performs this song? I really hope so because I really love it!! In fact, it is one of my favorite Elton John songs of all time!!

  • so how old is this song exactly?

  • about 35 years old now not in this video

  • I loved this! The audience loved it! It's so Elton-like, very 'spur-of-the-moment sort of thing'. 1000/10!

  • just isn't the same by himself

  • I didn't know he was bald.

  • yea he lost his hair in 1976

but now i love his hair =)

  • awesome and beyond

  • fantastic eltons a legend, this was a classic time for elton john 76,captain fantastic great stuff.

  • I would have loved to be alive at that time! just to see the greatest Elton on stage! how unlucky I am :(

  • wooo hooo nobody knows it!

  • dude..thats hella good live

  • EFFIN' EXCELLANT! BRAVO! BRAVO!! A TRUE TALENT! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! I LOVED IT BETTER THIS WAY! (nothing against kiki).

  • Elton John is a true legend in his own time. He's just an incredible entertainer.

  • that was AWESOME!!!!!!!! OMG he is incredible

  • I love the glasses, hahaha!

  • hm, i like it better with kiki dee...

  • this is the elton people should be focusing on, not his sexuality or anything...because he is a legendary performer

  • nice..never heard it like it.

  • increible'¡''' nunca habia escuchado esta cancion cantada a dos voces pero por elton solo y en solo piano

    es fascinante.

  • what oh what has happened to his voice nowadays, a totally different voice box these days surely? Such shame, his best years without a doubt!

  • #1.. he lost his falcetto when he had throat surgery in 86' #2... he is MUCH older than the seventies Elton

  • Yeah, it's a real damn shame. And I miss his falsetto so much.

  • legendary...

  • Great singer, marvellous pianist.

  • He has much more hair now ? I heard he uses propecia.

  • Baldness drugs didn't exist in the 70s. Notice EJ went fr yrs of wearing hats to suddenly a FULL head of hair--much more than in the 70s. Now if only there was a drug to restore this beautiful voice......

  • one word...legend

  • He is pretty good

  • It's unbelieveable how Elton is singing Kiki Dee's part. Amazin!!!! He does not need KiKi. Eat your heart out Kiki :).

  • poor Elton doesnt have a partner to sing with. I would've if I were alive then lmao

  • Awesome!!!

  • I remember watching this on TV in the 70s late one night....MEMORIES...Tomorrow (March 25, 2007 Elton will be 60 years old). He is great.

  • thats amazing stuff

  • goofy glasses XD

  • not goofy, cool! Elton makes anythin look cool!

  • incredible performance...thanks for the vid. do you happen to have 'saturday night's alright for fighting' from this concert?

  • thanks do much. Yeah his voice was incredible before the surgery. Of course, he still puts in an amazing show, as his piano playing has continued to improve and he can still sing with passion, even if he can't hit those high notes anymore.

  • where's kiki dee nowadays? Can she hit the high notes or no longer, like Elton?

  • I've had the mp3 version of this song in Edinburgh concert, but never seen the video. Great posting. His falsetto was unbelievable.

  • I saw him when he came to Austin, an amazing performance and I look forward to the next time hes in the area. I'll get even better seats that time.

  • If he couldn't find a partner to do the duet, he should have had the audience sing the other part - they had the enthusiasm to do it!

  • Good grief he's incredible. They just don't make singer-songwriters like that anymore!

  • is it me or is he wearing EXACTLY the same suit and glasses he wore in the video for this song?

  • wow, great footage!!! the mans a genius!!! who can do that? no1 but Elton thats who!

  • Thanks I watched this show on ABC TV in the U.S. back in 1976 and really enjoyed this solo version of DGBMH.

Was really dissapointed when it wasn't on the

    laserdisc(;

Do you have "... Robert Ford" from this show?

Elton's vocal performance of "...Robert Ford"

at the Edinburgh show is incredible!

  • Amazing, I didn't know that song was filmed. I own a copy of the laser disc "Solo in Edimburgh 1976" and that song is not on it. Where did you get it ??
