  • I see that a PERFECT world on that layout.. not a bit of weathering at all ..

  • You guys still need to model Conrail? I can probably do that when the layout's up again.

  • Best song for this video. Period. Good work!

  • ahhhh the 80s Santa Fe was still Santa Fe, Burlington northern was still Burlington northern, SP was still SP, C&O and B&O were still C/B&O and all minded there own business until the dreadful 90s when CSX and BNSF happened and SP, NP, WP, and EP(mythical line) was forgotten! and C&O and southern seaboard mixed and CSX came and union pacific stole the glory from Santa Fe!

  • I like it but try to get new trains

  • The creators of this video series (me included) picked the modeled era to be in the 1980's. The trains are mostly correct for that time period. I have other videos with modern era trains in them. Search for a video titled "Big Mountains - Fast Trains" or "BNSF Z-train" or "MRL Junk Train". Also, I have a lot of real train videos.

  • nice video Wesolint I see this type of operation at Bliss every day. except it is full cement cars for empties and empty grain cars for full ethanol cars.

  • TrainSpotterX invites you to view trains of australia .... over 100 videos to view.

  • I like the trainline separation noise too.

  • sum1 help please 1:31 do u push a button n they unhook or did u stop the vid n do it n pull'd the train away>i never understand how they do it when i watch model trains videoz

  • There is an eletromagnet laid in between tracks. The couplers are magnetic. With the flip of a switch, the magnet in the track comes on and spreads the couplers apart, freeing them (or the loco) from the rest of the train.

  • ohhh ok thanks ,im only 16 and want to build a layout one day but have to learn all this other stuff as well so thanks alot

  • i don't see a kadee magnet there so i would assume he just stopped the video, thats how we do it most of the time

  • @babiiblueboi I should have answered this long ago. In the original footage, I never stopped filming and just reached in and uncoupled the cars by hand and then had the locomotive operator continue with the switching chores. Through the magic of editing, I just spliced out the part with my hand reaching in and "PRESTO!" seamless automatic uncoupling - lol. Hope that clears it up for you.

  • i have a quaction were can i find a group for all of the stuff and how much would all this stuff cost.

  • this may sound stupid, but I just don't understand how all of this works. Like are all of these trains in one place and they are just running a layout untill a certain time?

  • yes

  • Great video!

I am not saying that this isn't your's but didn't MTrails have a video just like this? Anyways great job and great trains

  • Yes and no.

TRAINS ACROSS AMERICA is a video series with several participants exchanging HO scale freight cars between themselves to simulate real train operation across the USA. There are several "parts" posted - I think about 25 so far with more to come.

This video is part of "Season 1" with mtrails, myself (wesolint), and chessie4155 as the participating YouTubers.

  • great job :)

  • Very nice video, great job with sounds and all.

conrail2, I model the BN, fromt he CB&Q up to BN and everything associated with.. you aint seen green tell you seen my stuff lol.....to bad I don't have layout to show it all off.

  • burlington northern is like me fav.nice video.

  • Great series. Nice job on the sound.

  • This clip was quite educational and entertaining. Thanks.

  • Thank you and you're welcome. The series was intended to be just that.

  • i love bn it is my favorite line!!! :)

  • great job ;)

  • are their any rr clubs in Vermont

  • problaby check at your local hobby shop

  • very good train

  • Very awsome, is this HO scale? And tell me those sound effects were part of the model and not added, if so that would be very cool, at any rate great sound effects!

  • This is HO scale. At the present time, models are being equipped with sound modules (in case you weren't aware). However, I am not impressed with the quality or the limited functions to control it. Sorry to say that yes, I dubbed in the sound, but as you've noticed, it is cool.

  • at 2:25 there is a giraffe in the background

  • or a really deformed horsey...........lol

  • so..

  • cool train nice video Burlington Northern Rocks

  • I really enjoy this video series, very informative and helpful in running a realistic model railroad.Keep them coming, great job.

  • awesome job on the series from part 1 to 11c

  • nice layout! wish i could be involved in helping create a model rr like that...unfortunatly where i live there is no model rr clubs that i know of... anyway Nice Video

  • BN fucken rocks balls!!!! 5 stars!!

  • loved all of it! nice/GREAT SOUNDS!!! But why didn't any vid have the horn sounded? that would of been amazing! But it's great!

  • I didn't realize that there weren't horns blowing anywhere (Part 6 has a small toot). ;0)

  • fair enough

  • dude, gibson for basses, what bout' esp, warwick, and ibanez?

lol i was dumb i know its editing

  • All good brands, I just love my Gibby!

  • nice nofeence, but gibson basses make me lol

its such a conicidence the the actual sounds perfectly fit the models rofl!

  • It's called editing.....Why does Gibson make you lol - they are the shiznit, best quality sound on the market. Maybe not the most popular, but since when has that mattered.

  • do u do the same thing that mtrails does (where he takes actual sounds synks it w/ the video?) lol

  • Yes, he has shared sounds with me that I use in my vids. I play the bass too - a Gibson.

  • lol thanks! YAAA! Strats bore me! so i punked it!

  • ya...what? lol

  • Yer Strat!

  • cool cool! sorry for being harsh! but lol Peace man!

  • Peace out. Bang that axe!

  • this guy has a monotone, but awesome vid

  • I did not do the narration. We all used the same guy to do it so that ours vids would have a common tie to each other. There is still another part (or 2) to be posted.

  • HappyNewYear wesolint!!

  • Happy New Year!

  • Sweet!!

  • very nice layout

  • that layout must have cost you an arm and leg

  • It's a club layout. Each member builds one or more pieces and then we put them all together.

  • Great work again

  • Thanks!

  • are there really amtrak trains in this

  • Did I sucker you on a tag????????? lol

  • Not bad man.

  • Watching videos similar to this got me into the hobby. Now I have a small 4x8 layout that I'm working on sitting in my basement.

  • Got any vids of it?

  • These "Trains Across America" series are awesome wesolint! You and your club do great work with this. Great narration as well. Plus, I'm really amazed by the sound effects you use. I love looking at these old class one railroads again! :)

Can't wait for Part 4! Keep up the outstanding work

  • Thanks man. I love making them.

  • You're very welcome. I never get tired of looking at these cool vids from you, mtrails, and your model railroading club.

Makes me want to get back into the hobby something quick!

  • What's with the orange tiger face on the BN units?

  • During the 80's, BN was searching for a highly visible "face" for railroad crossing safety. This was their short term answer, but at $5,000 per unit to paint, opted for the white face look instead.

  • Whats your last name? Mine just happens to be Wood... Like a 2x4 lol

  • See BN Doublestack vid - it's in the opening credits.

  • Thank you everyone! I just got home from work and saw all your comments and am overwhelmed. Again, thanks!

  • Aweome video,man! Can't wait for part 4! 5 stars!

  • Also a question, why is my name mentioned?

  • My son helped me, his name is Anthony too!

  • If there are more, have the trains stop here in Minnesota, There is a very large layout up in Glenwood that i am apart of that owns it (Lakes Area Model Railroad Club) and its has very large yards for switching, if you need more contact me on here and I will give you my E-Mail address

  • Cool Nice Tigers!

  • been waiting for this one.. wow nice..

  • WOW! Impressive. Great narration and sound FX!

  • Super. Just what I have been waiting for. You have a truely great layout, but then again, all the three layouts for this series are great. Can not wait for Part 4...

  • I was actually in the planning stage of this part when you posted your grain switching vids!

  • Hi. Just saw your video again. Cool....

Anyway just wanted to ask you about your de-coupling (if you call it this) Do you use a magnet hiden in the trackbed ? and if yes, which one/brand ?

  • I am old school - therefore, just like I did when I worked for BN, I use my hand. It gets edited out for the movie. No magnets, just "smoke & mirrors". Also, I use the term "un-couple".

  • when's part 4?

nice video by the way i gave it a 4/5 stars

  • I'm planning to post each part about a week apart from each other.

  • very cool

  • Very enjoyable to watch. Can't wait for the next episode.

  • What a beautiful layout, its perfect! Very good editing on the video also. LOVE IT! I've just gotta give this 5 stars!

  • All right! it's here..

  • Part 3! Yeah!

  • TA-DA! Here it is!
