This passage may have some symbolic meaning but first and formost it's quite literal. He is talking about a "SIGN IN HEAVEN" That's what it says. This passage is talking about an actual interaction between constellations! God tells us in Genesis that the sun moon and stars shall be used for signs and seasons.
