  • Not to forget how "British" the railway is....you can't ill-treat this technology.

    Show some patriotism.

I 've heard bad storries about the private companys that lett the railwaysystem rotting away, just taking the cash and reinvesting nothing.

    Are there no patriotic feelings?

  • Hear hear Andrew, if I may call you that. On my last vacation to England, I took a bus from Dover to Canterbury and back. It pretty much took more than half of my entire day to do that. Of course, it didn't help when one of the bus drivers blew past me at one stop and did not pick me up. Nevertheless, it would have been rather nightmaresh, if it wasn't for the nice screnery. Of couse, a yank critizing Brits for their bad transportation system is a bit of a pot calling the kettle blackish.

  • Fuckin hell ma you're 85% German now just look at the wooly jumper you're wearing :D

You made the correct choice leaving the UK. Stay in Germany and keep wearing them woolies. I've heard its cold there.

  • @claudis192 Woolly jumpers are cool...

  • @rewboss I just looked at the comment i made now i'm atleast semiconscious. Sorry if it sounded mean spirited. It wasn't meant. I agree that woollen jumpers are awesome. I just wish i had such a woollen jumper now that i need to wait an hour for the bus during the freezing cold. That is if it ever turns up :S

I'll stand by my last comment though. You made a smart move leaving the UK. Best wishes from ripoff Britain. Where only the self entitled hypocrite politicians get any perks..

  • @claudis192 Actually, I didn't have a problem with your comment. It was just a good opportunity to paraphrase Doctor Who. Bow ties, fezes, stetsons, they're all cool. :)

  • @rewboss I don 't want to sound weird but when I read this I had to hug my laptop ... and yeah I'm currently watching all the videos on your channel so try not to be creeped out when you read more commets from me. ^^

  • Well done. Hope you win. Wow, I cannot believe that Britain has reached this point - incredible. I haven't been there since 1964 and I remember what a nice transit system there was - you could pretty well go anyplace conveniently. What a shame.

  • As long as the Multi-national auto manufacturers have control there will be no mass-transit in America and it sounds like the same for GB. It took them years to destroy the existing mass-transit in both countries. The big money is in the individual transportation market. More fuel, more tyres, etc. I will go vote for you now!

  • @downhill240 Public transportation in the US was killed by the car lobby; in the UK it was killed by misguided government policy. The railways were state owned at the time, and while the main lines were making profits, the branch lines were losing money. So they closed down the branch lines and replaced them with buses. It was a genuine attempt to save taxpayers' money, but it backfired horribly.

  • @rewboss In 2004, for my Uni speech class, I assembled a speech over this very subject. Back in the 30's-40's General Motors and Standard Oil Company started buying up all of the public transport companies in the big cities and replacing them with G.M. buses. They were helped by the (misguided) belief in America that "freedom" meant that one should travel solo. Obama has tried to push High Speed Rail Projects....but I believe it is too little too late. This should have happened 30 years ago.

  • Very good question but I think Mr Cameron needs to do waaaaaaaaaaaay more than just sort out transport systems.

  • @12thNameITried - Like what?

  • @12thNameITried Certainly. But I had to choose *one* topic...

  • Hm... I tried to find it (domestic, all 6 pages) but couldn't...

  • @itekisan Try checking the "Show only videos" box and clicking on "Most recent".

  • Andrew, This is Richard (from 789). If you think things are bad in the U.K.. take a look at my side of the pond. There was one sensible sentence the George W. Bush said in his entire presidency. "We are a nation that is addicted to oil". The DT's that America will experience as India and China scoop up the dwindling reserves will tear this place apart. I've seen this coming since 91' and I believe that the next 5-10 years will be a critical turning point for this nation. btw...Great topic!

  • I voted for your question! =D

  • Well this is a nice coincidence.

I am about to go to the UK - London to be precise - by train tomorrow.

And at this moment I am far more concerned about the trains within Germany not being on time - bloody strike, we all know how it ends, the Union gets 1-2% more money out of the whole deal and everybody starts hating anyone associated with railway services - than I am about the British public transportation system. But then again, I will only use the Tube and maybe a bus here and there.
