  • Not Alva, not Tony, not Mullen or someone else is the #1... Everyone who brings the skateboard in the minds of those ppl outside have to be on the top.

  • met him yester day he is legit he is soo rad!

  • wow that really sucks dick since i've never heard of him till now

  • love!

  • he looks like Blake from Workaholics

  • Zephyr not Zephry

  • @cudelhiphop Good spot man, never noticed

  • Anyone ever notice that Tony Alva looks like 'Drexel' from True Romance?

  • @SwitchRich Haha totally see it

  • I've got an alvaboard from 1977 with original everything. tracker trucks, kryptonics whells ect. How much would you guess it's worth? It's in preatty good condition.

  • @mrkingremix21 Yea it is dumb ass

  • is that tony alva?dude your kidding me

  • hell fuckinh yea!!!

  • Rodney mullen put more work into revolutionizing skateboarding so he is #1

  • Led Zeppelin and Skating. What more could a man ask for?

  • @picamerons burguers

  • Tony!!!! yeahh!! great pioneer!!

  • He was fucking beautiful!

  • Song is "Hots On For Nowhere" by Led Zeppelin, on the "Presence" album

  • @bkh91171 thanks!

  • whats the song?

  • It was fun to be a teenager back then in SoCal. We all looked to Tony Alva to see how to have an attitude long before punk came along.

  • 5:26 that wasn't really an air but that was the sickest pivot I've ever seen! thats how you turn on the coping kids!

  • this documentary always gets me stoked to go skate.

  • he inspires me to skateboard

  • THE MAN!

  • i dont know shit about skating...but i know tony alva is the shit

  • it's hard to believe that the current tony alva had such a big ego back then.

  • @trollingdouche wow, you really live up to your username!

  • @BeatsAndPulses

    is that what I do?

  • kinda sucks how tony alva doesn't have a name like tony hawk. alva has done more for skating then any other skater in the world, but his name rarely gets mentioned.

  • @SensiRootsBoy

    are you kidding?

Tony alva sucks. He nerver progressed and all he can do is kick turns and carve pools

he tried to be famous and concentrated more on that than his skating and he never

    became a good skater

Now that hes old he just lives off his past

while tony hawk is still a beast when you watch him skate vert

  • @SensiRootsBoy yeah well now what about jay adams. he was no attention whore and no one knows him. im not trying to offend tony alve but thats how it is

  • lords of dogtown go search this movie, it will learn yo a lot about skating history!

  • 2nd Runner up - Jay Adams...

    Unacceptabley unexpected

  • Kickass video! I featured it in my comments today, please check them out.

    Thanks for posting! UR Awesome!!

  • THESE GUYS ARE CREATORS!

  • thanks guitarplayer I am going to wear as many pads as i can fit over my elbows and knees. Too bad i can only fit on one helmet at a time hahaha. I still have my red kryps and german speed bearings. the children on my street just cant believe how fast quiet and sticky those wheels are. i am try to get them to carve turns but they are afraid of leaning on the ride its kind of funny. its like surfing i tell them, it falls on deaf ears...oh well. they just watch the "old man".

  • thanks guitarplayer I am going to wear as many pads as i can fit over my elbows and knees. Too bad i can only fit on one helmet at a time hahaha

  • i just bought another alva board. my second one in 40 years. like they say old skaters dont die they just roll a .little slower.

  • @aca319ca Nice... Careful on the old knees lol! I love this documentary, I was one of these kids and all of these dudes look like my friends:-) I was in the north bay area but we still had the 70's drought and dry swimming pools... Man those 1st boards were brutal, I was a constant scab!

I went snowboarding last year, still in pretty good shape. But I did a faceplant doing about 25mph and punched myself in the chest when I slammed down, it hurt for weeks:-p

Be careful thats all I'm saying!

  • It's Drexl from True Romance!!! Minus the scars... =O)

  • just watched the movie it was cool my fav was stacy

  • make money, get laid every f**ckin night...way of life

  • Yep I remember all of you guys! All of my friends have bad knees from those early years of skateboarding and now all pushing 50 years old. This documentary brings back a lot of awesome times and memories, the music choices were great! I love that part where dudes are dropping into the pool just as Ted Nugent starts, fucking stellar!

  • tony alva i respect him and all but he did alot of wrong for fame and wealth he lost the cause to skate but i still hold him and all the other z-boyz still in VERY HIGH REGARD long live dogtown

  • led zeppelin

  • even tho i hardly skate anymore...this just makes me wan to sk8!

  • Who else thinks Tony Alva looks a bit like Keith Morris? Maybe it's just the dreads.

  • smoke dat weed tony

  • man, ... wow!

  • what the fuck they had blazers back then?????

  • Long live skateboarding.

  • 2:59 9-> Stacy Peralta

  • wtf? he was the "micheal jordan of skatebaording", micheal jordan is the jay adams of basketball

  • when Alva was 19 yrs old, Adams was still a 15 yr old kid

  • Tony and his family sill here in an diego , sorry to hear about one of your other doc vids got cut off sound due to a song confict. Great music in this movie , I watched all thos guys take over some of some pools remember everything like it was yesterday

  • Tony Alva is a fucking dickhead in the early 90's one of his riders funded by alva started Public Skates, problem is my buddy already had public skates and he had it copyrighted but this guy was super-religious and didnt do anything about,I guess because of his religion??And I know he stole it cause we hads a video ata a skating conference(ppl showing new shit) and Alva watched our public video askin ?'sand talked to the owner. A few months later I open thrasher there is public but a alva sk8ter

  • @TheRalphus666 I was like sue that mother fucker and he wouldnt. So asshole of the early 90='s was easily Tony Alva fucking thief her just put the ownership under his one of his skaters so if a lawsuit happened he wouldnt get sued his rider was.He WAS a asshole ,IS a asshole, and ALWAYS will be an asshole a big fuck you for doing that to a real stand up guy(the Original owner).Your a conceited piece of shit and nobody does bert revert's anymore you fuckin tool and thief

  • In high school I was a skateboard nut and

Tony Alva, Jay Adams and the dogtown skaters were the shit back then!!

  • i met tony in tallahasse not 2 long ago

  • Jay Adams is still the best to me

  • If Dogtown had been just a skateboarding movie I would have snuffed it after 10 minutes. What kept my attention was that the Z boys started a revolution. So what qualified them? Interesting to hear the originals speak of Tony Alva with a deep sense of knowing. Conversely latter generation Tony Hawk and Steve Caballero could well have been reading cue cards for all the significance they gave him. It was a bit like listening to a company rep.. but that's OK company reps don't start revolutions.

  • i like how all the other guys talk about each other behind their backs and say, "oh dude jay was the best hes was way beyond us"..." tonys time and balance were just so superior"

    good friends right there

  • "No not necessarily, i might have done that a few times but usually i just let my skating do the talking" hahahahahahahah: 1:48

  • Although Alva is fucking cool, i still prefer Jay Adams!

  • awsome

  • I love jay adams the best as well!

  • Although skating and surfing are so extreme today, take me back to this era. I love watching Jay Adams and Tony Alva skate pools, As for surfing, I would rather watch Tom Curren or Shaun Tomson carving J Bay.

  • i liked jay adams better then tony, jays style was in a league of his own.

  • 1:26 - 1:33 was the best way to describe him... people who call him a douchebag/tool, I get what u mean, but he changed as he matured... & even if he didnt change, dont judge people as it's wrong when people judge you as well...

  • Shia LaBeouf with dreads?

  • IS THE SAME WAY IN ROLLER SPEEDSKATING ......................WHERES UR LASO WONDERWOMAN?

  • omg!! he was sexy when he was young !! i would of done naughty, naughty things to him ;)

  • the best

  • adams, alva and peralta were like blue, red and yellow.

  • after watching the lords of dogtown film it kinda puts tony in a bad light. but without a question of a doubt fair play to each of them, they changed skateboarding forever

  • lol Tony acts a lot differently than how they describe him

  • he came to our mall a couple of weeks ago..

  • name song?

  • @Cotahere I don't know the sort of xylophone one at the start but the more upbeat one is Hots On For Nowhere by Led Zeppelin

  • @BeatsAndPulses

    I like reindeers

  • @Cotahere Picked up skating in 84 as a 14-year old. First deck I had was a neon pink alva fish tail... Brian told me not to tell Tony this..... Alva was the man for me until I moved to surfing a few years later. Always held him in high regards. A classmate of mine was a friend of Tony's and I was able to spend a couple hours with him.... while filming in Imperial Beach for Lords of Dogtown. One of those times that you meet a legend and he's just a cool dude. Good times.

  • ahhahah wtf cheetah cowboy hat

  • does stacie peralta have one

  • this is amazin i love how he flows through bowls

  • he looked like shia leboeuf

    :S

    :-p

  • i like the film but jay adams is the best

  • @znb324 Yeah I think so too, I was gonna post his section of the film on youtube but it was already on and it had so many views I decided not to.

  • I cant find anything on sid

  • surfing, skating, weed & muzik!

  • they really shoulda got shia lebeouf to play him in the movie rather than that other guy

  • @LedZepfan122 Why? He looks nothing like him. I think the other guy did a great job. And he looked like him.

  • @AICfreak911 Well first off I think the movie was just OK, I say this because if you compare it to the Sony Pictures documentary it pales in comparison and the guy who did play Tony Alva did a good job and some pics of tony and shia look so alike, cud just be me tho

  • Tony!El!" Mero, Mero"

  • AWESOME!

    I have this docimentary!

  • its funny how skating has changed

  • @sk8ter4life5407 yea skating has gone to absolute shit. surfing too.

  • @PizzaHero92 man, skating is just revolutionizing, Some skaters give a bad name to the majority of skaters,

  • man me and my friends still tear the streets on our mini series', carving, annoying pedestrians and cutting up cars is what its all about

  • @makkyd26 dude im 16 and all my friends and i do is ride a mini series and listen to classic rock.

  • @s8ter4life5407 Surfing the greatlakes is pretty sick

  • @PizzaHero92 how? if skateboarding tricks had never been invented skateboarding would of been out of style 10 years ago more

  • @PizzaHero92

Parkour is pretty much taking over now. Though Skateboarding seemed great.

  • @PizzaHero92 ITS UP TO THE PEOPLE WHO LOVE IT..... TO TAKE CARE OF IT AND KEEP IT ALIVE. THEN AGAIN SKATEBOARDING AT ITS BEST MIGHT NOT BE MEANT FOR MAINSTREAM.......SURFERS AND SKATERS, BY NATURE ARENT, "MAINSTREAM PEOPLE"

  • i grew up in mexico

  • Alva, Caballero and Peralta are part of the Mexican-american culture. Of course!

  • dude peralta wasnt mexican....i dont think lol

  • Well, that's what wikipedia thinks, i don't...

  • @DanHubby Peralta is Mexican-American.

  • thanks dude. i knew the singers voice sounded familiar

  • anyone know the name of the song that comes in at :36?

  • Its a Zeppelin song, dont know which one though.

  • Hots on for Nowhere - Led Zepplin

  • was that sid in this?

  • read the title, this is tony alva, and sid wasnt that kids real name, they just used that name in the movie, and "sid" died from brain cancer when he was young

  • in this documentary i am pretty sure he was

  • it was more with picture if i remember right at all havent seen it in a while ya no

  • Sid was based on a real person but was not the same as in the lords of dogtown.

He was a boy that lived in the rich part of LA that had a pool. And he loved watching them skate and that, so he invited them all up to his pool when he was ill.

    He died of brain cancer

  • @BeatsAndPulses YEA MAN ALL THEM SKATERS ARE GREAT

  • The dogbowl was a 10 minute busride for me in santa monica. sid wasn't his real name(privacy purposes) but the story about him in lords of dogtown is accurate....he begged his dad for months to drain the pool so they could skate......it was an important part of the legacy, and the story needed to be told. when all is said and done from the fame and fortune, its all about the friendship.

  • is stacy hispanic or italian? people tell me hes mexican

  • he nowadays looks exactly like Gary Oldman in the movie true romance- I wonder if that is a coincidence?

  • oh shit he does still thats a trip

  • i wonder how old rodney mullen was when tony was this famous

  • haha he had a bbq at my work today.

  • lucky, w/e BBQ at your work means :P

  • I wished I grew up in their neighborhood in the mid seventies.

  • jay adams for life

  • yes I have, and I haven't seeen a white kid with fair skin and long blonde hair lolol

  • Yeah, okay! Well that's not true at all, asshole!

  • Peralta isn't Mexican, you kook!

  • @eagledynasty81 "peraltas fucking white, he's not mexican you dumbass. lol wtf"

-Mexican is not a race you idiot, and Peralta is a White Mexican, there are millions of White Mexicans in Mexico and in the U.S., who are descendants of Europeans who settled in Mexico 500 years ago.

  • @thetruth6789 LOL! I worked with a guy in N. California for a couple of years and he was a red headed 6 foot 1 inch tall freckle faced Mexican. You'd never know it until he spoke.

    Funny how people think....

  • Comment removed

  • wait he said tony could back his ego up

but didnt he get knocked out in the movie?

or was that just the movie
