I played drums in high school (in the 60's!!!) but stopped when I went off to college. But I've always liked listening to drums, though I know little about them. My snare had a very "tinny" or "tingy" or "tight"or "echo-y" sound to it. Is it because it had a more complicated head on it and was more than 1-ply? Or was it more likely because it was cheap. I don't even recall the brand.

Thank you. It's a Lignum drumset (and snare drum) with simple heads on it (Evans 1-ply things)
