  • Your songs all have a freshness about them. I feel like they're the kind of songs that will always sound brand new. Unfortunately, I spent some time in fear too. Too much. Another great song.

  • Still catching up on missed videos by people I like and respect. I like the line "there is no crystal ball..." in particular. The sound of this alone is worth the price of admission. You just keep on perfecting it with every upload it seems.

  • Well, better commenting later than never, hehe. I got this song via e-mail and let you know my thoughts, but it's worth commenting again. A stellar song, Scott! Love the line, 'learning only by the journey where I've been." Always a pleasure to listen. :)

I'm back on Youtube, and I just thought I'd stop by. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs - Alright, Janet! This is good sign! Hopefully you were spared some of the sloppy snowy weather that has been going around the Nation of late! (Not terribly conducive to outdoor camping!) Glad to have you back! YT has been relatively quiet of late...

  • Wow, this is beautiful. Been so long since I have gone to listen to other peoples songs on here. I love this. :)

  • @karryn13 - thanks, Karryn! It's nice to have you back "in action"! You really are quite the rocky/ bluesy one-woman band! I'm jealous of the drums!

  • I have always been a fan of your songwriting Scott. Brilliant again here.

Your unique voice just draws me in. Some inner calm I wish I had... Great work !!.

  • @Toracube - oops! i missed your comment, Andy - Thanks! I also like the intensity and insight you bring to YT with your music!

  • I always enjoy hearing your new songs, Scott. - and you always have rich lyrical substance. This strikes me as the wisdom of Solomon bundled in a clever folksy tune. Rings true, my friend. We're all learning along the way.

  • @karlmahlmann - Thanks, Karl! I never expected to be writing songs at this point in my life - but now that I've been there, I'm looking forward to what the new year will bring - especially from folks like you that I've met as a result of this "journey"!

  • Yes! See you tonight!!!

  • Love the lyrics....love the voice. Always distinctive music. Wonderful!

Tip of my hat to you, friend. I think it is a fantastic song!

    NAncy

  • @nllleonard - thanks so much, NAncy! (You must have a very nice hat!)

  • Great poetry, Scott! At first listen, I'd say some of your most powerful I've heard. This is a really striking song. Great share! Thanks! And Happy New Years!

  • @BradPritts - thanks, Brad! A bountiful and prolific New Year to you too!

  • Another great song, from your great voice, with your great lyrics!xxooH

  • @goodwin11 - H: are you trying to make me smile? :)

  • Great song !

Your voice is perfect for american folk !

It makes me think of a camp fire somewhere in the West ...

And the music is cool too.

    Alexandre.

  • @Starfloyd - thanks, Alexandre! I appreciate your comments! (hmmm... campfire in the west - never thought of that before!)

  • @bobpiquette - Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it

  • Well, Scott, you did it again. Great message to share with all. Here's to continued learning along the road in 2011. See if we can change the good and the bad we encounter from mere knowledge into wisdom. Fav'd and starred. All the best. ~ Mark

  • @manriq47 - Thanks, Mark! It's time we kick this miserable old-dog-year to the side of the road, and turn some of this new-fangled "wisdom" into a better year ahead! May we all fare well(er)!

  • This is so very-very good Scott.

The lyrics, the music, the vocals, ALL Incredibly well done and Pleasing to the ears, mind and the soul. ! Your writing never ceases to amaze me, you're so damn good,

...you make me sick ! :o) There's so many good lines in here it would be difficult to pick a favorite but ..."In dark and dusty corners, I've spent some time in fear"...strikes a chord with me. Excellent piece of work my friend ! Bravo !!! :-)) Wally

  • @profwaldo - sorry to hear I've made you sick, Wally! Gee... is there anything I can do... ? (BIG thanks!)

  • @cadwalladee - Nah, just keep doin' what you're doin'.

I'll keep listenin'..., maybe I'll build up a resistance. ;o)

  • you know how much i love the folky ones... ;)

  • @minxafied - well now, do you suppose THAT's why I keep making them? :)

  • OH...I also like the picture on this one!! T:)

  • @agrlfmtx - the picture was created with a 3D modeling program and took a couple days to render... the computer had to calculate highlights, shadows, reflections, transparencies, textures, etc... interesting stuff to fool around with...

  • Hey Scott! I am one of those people that live life!! Absolutley love the words on this one. I am going to copy and paste this one nearby!! Have a good and wonderful Christmas Scott! t:)

  • @agrlfmtx - T: I think you are one of those people who live TWO lives simultaneously! You do get more done that way... hehe! (yeah - Christmas is shaping up to be pretty good... hope yours is swell too!)

  • Another set of lyrics that ring true. Thank you Scott!

  • @rd2ed - I think it's those lyrical bells I've been using lately, Ed! (thanks!)

  • Inspirational lyrics and well crafted song. This is superb Scott!

  • @ljped - Hi, Jack! Thank you sir!

  • This is wonderful Scott. I envy your lyric skills The message is universal yet the words so sharp and original. I have to favorite this song!

  • @nessyvt - Oh, I don't know Vanessa... Your "Bad Girls" song gives this a pretty good run for the money in the philosophical department! (thanks!)

  • This is so good....I mean really good. The melody and lyrics blend together so perfectly that I am having troubles finding the right words to describe how great it is. Your talent for songwriting is amazing Scott. This is definitely going into your playlist on my channel. I will embrace all and spin them together for a little mix and match. Thank you for a fantastic end of the year offering my friend. Merry Christmas Mr. Cadwallader.

  • @PatrickGMoran - Hey, Pat - thanks for the enthusiasm! Speaking of mix and match - have you ever looked down at your feet and discovered you are wearing two unrelated shoes? (I have done this more than once...)

  • I like this one especially, Scott --it is a wonderful muse...and the perplexity if life......we do not know what we are in the midst of till we look backwards......perhaps without the mystery ahead in life we'd all get bored and not care to go on---:-), and yes, it's the good and bad both that makes us what we are....Another wonderful Cadwalladee special..., thankyou Scott.!!...Wishing you and yours a safe, warm, happy holiday...;-)XOs, Laurie

  • @cinderellalifestyle - ooh! LaruieLee's serious side peeking through a bit! I agree - let's keep the mystery - I'm not ready to be bored yet! May your van live to be 100!

  • I love the title. Quite insightful Scott.. Easy rolling with an important message. True folk tune. Perfect match of message and vocals. Your voice fits this extremely well.

  • @tomvband - Thanks a bunch, Tom!

  • the journey...mix and match....wonderful song Scott....onward Folk!

    :)Michael

  • @reliablebow - Agreed. It's a pretty good tradition!

  • this must be the most thoughtful lyric you've posted and i very much respect, agree, and enjoy your creation. just one good phrase after another (the ghost i feared to see came nowhere near to me). i think my favorite verse is the last verse where we can "embrace the good and the bad moments" with a little mix and match. it's not often we hear a song that inspires us to stop and really think about what the artist is saying, but this is a fine example of that. thanks for the mirror, chuck.

  • @chuxtrux - Thanks, Chuck! (I think your last one sparked this one...) We can't predict the future (yet) but we sure do know where we've been!

  • Hi Scott, this song really spoke to me. In the last few months I've experienced the end of a long life well lived and a senseless murder of someone just starting out in life. Embrace the good and bad indeed. Well done. Have a Merry Christmas.

  • @tonygrimsley - Hi, Tony. Let's hope next year brings more of the good...

  • Hi Scot I've got a lot of catching up to do my Friend I've missed being able to listen to my you tube friends, As i would expect from you Excellent writing and performing Love it Have a Happy Christmas and all the Best for 2011 Scot

  • @nidgetucker - Hey there Nidge! grand to hear from you! All the merriment and good wishes right back at you!
