actually the F-22 is a better plane than the Eurofighter. If u look at the numbers, the F-22 is faster in speed of Mach 2.25 at altitude and in supercruise at 1.82 Mach. The typhoon doesn't even touch that. Plus the F-22 has more pounds on the thrust and has a bigger combat radius. Basically F-22 dominates the sky currently. Only stupid thing is the price is high, but its not much of a difference because the typhoon is not a STEALTH PLANE!
@heartbreak968 omg!!!!!! dont compare it to the F22, F22 was designed to dominate the sky, this is multirole jet with features of a bomber.....and EADS is planning to put stealth paint on this.. ( i know it woudnt be stealthy as F-177, still stealthier than Mig 29 e.g.)
@Antarktida1337 u can compare it because both are 5th generation fighter aircraft. I really think the F-32 is going to be a better multirole than the Eurofighter. I doubt europe will ever reach the air dominance than the US.
@Antarktida1337 It is and was designed as Fighter interceptor, the delay of 5 years into service was formal requests for multi role capability. Also, the Typhoon has beaten the F-22 in VR combat twice. The Typhoon radar is known to pick up F-22's at nearly 90km out if not in "full stealth mode".
The F-22 has got the advantage of being to avoid a fight it cannot win, or give advantage of surprise.
Anyway, keep in mind, the Typhoon was designed as a basic fighter/interceptor like the F-15-F-16.
@crasyhorse44 lol u stupid american, get a clue, F-22 might be better "on paper", EF Typhoon is much more maneuverable able of supercruising. F-22 is overpriced............F-22...............USA can afford only 4 of em, then they delayed its production (running outta money xD:) while the 184 pieces of EF Typhoon were built........USA scientists couldnt develope stealth, since it comes from USSR,.........FU Ami, Jihad on you :)
um please tell me the guy who said this is better than an F-22 was joking. Does Europe even understand half the tech, like thrust vectoring and stealth, that we put into the F-22 to allow it to kick the crap out of little pukes like the Eurofighter? Oh and btw, the Eurofighter is classified as a "pocket fighter", not even close to an "air supperiority fighter" like the F-22!
horse you dumbass...Typhoon is a multi-role fighter, not a "pocket fighter" and actually BAE, a BRITISH company is currently 10 years ahead of anyone else in stealth tech...they are planning to fit active camo to the Typhoon, making it TRUE stealth. I'll send the link to you if you'd like!!!
Ya mr. british samurai person, please refrain from posting comments that you have no basis for. Your link was an article saying bae had made a TV project what was behind it, and thats not new. If you are looking for an arguement, go back to medieval japan.
I stand by my previous arguement. The F-22 has everything the Eurofighter does and much more. You cant compare a $60 billion plane to a $122 million dollar one.

@samuraikensai If you include development costs, as of 2011 it was costing over $340 million per air craft. Then the upgrade costs starting in 2015 will work out around $120 million each - adjusting by inflation. (Not exaggerating either, check it up) Maintainece per hour flown costs around $45,000 in fuel and undisclosed amount in other work, which is very expensive.
I personally would prefer 3 Typhoons over 1 F-22, especially with the weak ECM and radar of the F-22.
The canards are a moving control surface. Aerodynamically it cuases less stress than all moving tail elevons. Not a new idea, the Wright Brothers did it with their aircraft!

@greatbritainwba the ef costs around 111 million dollar
klote2314 1 year ago
