French braiding is really easy...just section the hair as u did in this video grab three small sections of hair at the hair line and take the piece to from the right side and bring it over to the left grabbing a small amount of hair bring the left piece over and then the middle piece and grap hair with the middle... repeat
Hello Princess: I just found you on youtube. I am a woman of a certain age, if you know what I mean and have permed for at least 20 years and decided about 4 months ago to go natural. I was at a loss, but thanks to you info., I watched the, going natural, the clipping, and the braidout. The braid out i already did once in a while, but will do it regularly now. I'm making this the first day of really going natural, cause i really wasn't doing anything to my hair. I'll keep you abreast!!
@timewearson Also I needed to add that my hair has gotten thin in the front. Do you have any suggestions for that situation? And I have been using a silk cap at night.
THANK YOU . i've been not permong my hair for about 4 months and i just stopped cause i never have seen my natural hair and i really want to. i never even knew there was such a thing as a braid out im going to do that towmorrow night once i take out my weave. thanks you !
Really nice.. can you also do this with relaxed hair but when your'e transitioning? And what products do you have to use cuz you've used water.. Thanks!
@JayLeeBaby Yes, this is one of the best transition hairstyles because it's curly and you don't have to blend two different textures. You can use any products that work for your hair. I put a little Cantu Shea Butter on my hair to moisturize. Then I put a non drying gel mixed with oil (the gel helps for hold). Then I braid it up and put a roller on the end. Just try it out and experiment on your own! :)
I thought gel and water was bad for your hair? Another question if you have just began the trasition process and your hair is mostly relaxed will braidouts still have the same effect??
@moochie0989 It will be a little thicker at the roots but it will work. And not all gels are drying to the hair. And why did you think water was bad for the hair? Water is black hair's best friend...it provides the moisture most people's hair is missing. Look for other videos and search Google for more answers.
Just came across your informative tutorials. Have you found a product that offers the qualities you were looking for? I'm living in Germany and frantically trying to find products that will allow me to moisturize my transitional texturized to natural hair. I researched a line called Hair Rules by Dickeiy but unable to get them here in Europe. I's be interested in your search so far. Best.
Looking at your natural texture it seems as if you never really "needed" a perm at all.I have been natural for about 10 years. My natural texture is similar to that of Ananda Lewis or Amel Larrieux. Can you recommend any frizz controlling products by any chance? Thanks.
thanks so much for posting this! I'm trying to grow my hair out. The ends are straight and the top of my hair is texturized. Now, I just want to go natural! i'm just tired of processed hair. i will try the braid out. Also, thanks for reconfirming that I DON'T have to do the big chop because I can't do short hair.
Your method is like fantastic...this is my first transitioning braidout that i can actually wear it out...No matter what hair type you have this works bc i was avoiding doing your method because my hairtype is like 4a-b? but it really works so thanks and i love your videos :)
I wish I could just run my fingers through my hair after the braid out. My fingers would get chopped right off, lol. You have such a beautiful texture.
i am also natural minus the little relaxer at the end but for the most part im natural and about a week ago i went to the dominicans to let them blow my hair out and for the most part it turned out fine but NOW! my hair is going back to its natural state and i dont have $50 to give them ever two weeks so will this style work for me being that i am natural but its blown out???
u are such an inspiration: ) thank you, and I love your use of makeup because some of the other people us 20 dollar products when I find N.Y in such cheaper. thank you again
gosh.. thanks so much for this tutorial. i haven't done this braid style in very long time. but after seeing this video, i think it's time to go back to my natural hair. i can't tell you how damaged my hair is because of ONE: a relaxer(but i haven't had one in 6-7 years, i don't want any more) and TWO: how often i straighten my hair, and honestly i'm SICK of straightning . i would say, especially when wet your hair is rather similar to mine. i reallly miss my natural hair and i'm only 17! :(
Hi. Your hair looks nice. I have a questions though. Do you recommend that a person wash and use setting lotion before braiding? I heard that last a little longer. Also, the photo that you held up in the magazine of the lady with the braidout, I saw that same picture in a hair magazine and it said that she had a straw set. Maybe it's to different magazines. Take care.
Do you use any type of conditioning "grease"? Something like pomade(I think I spelled it right) or hair food? I do but have to buy so much of it cause my mane is thick and will fly if not oiled heavily. Gels and mouses just dries it out and I'll be back to flying again. . . . :(
this was so very informative. I am currently going natural and i thought that there was no cute way to do it so i was thinking that maybe i should just keep getting relaxers (although i have not had a relaxer in 3 months) but this just inspired me so much to just go all natural and do it the easy way.
Thank you so much!! I find all your videos to be extremely helpful! You really explain and breakdown the process so I can see what you're talking about. I'm trying to transition from relaxed to natural and I think I'm gonna try to use this braid-out method the next time I wash and set my hair!!
i have been trying braid outs for the past few days. i do about 6-8 cornrows and i apply a moisturizer before braiding (ors olive oil lotion and mizani h2o nighttime) then mist with water and sleep in satin bonnet and undo the braids in the morning, but i notice i have a lot of breakage from this style. any tips?
I've never bought one from there, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do. You should be able to get one at a drugstore in the hair section if not at your local beauty supply.
@sexxystarr1009 You might be better off getting a scarf at JcPenny's or some department store. They actually have the best ones for your hair. The ones at the BSS suck.
that looks really good!!!! i am black and filipino and my hair is kind of long but has that "black quality" and i was looking for a style thats different but would look good on me, and i think this is it thanks!!!!
WOW!!! Your tutorials are extremely helpful!!! I'm assuming that it was some type of grease and of course water that you moistioned your hair with prior to braiding? Also, is it hard taking care of really thick/full long hair naturally. My hair is not course textured but not exactly straight either. Also, could I do a braid-out with permed hair? thank you
youv'e inspired me to go natural. I was always afraid to but after watchin EVERY SINGLE one of your videos i've made my decision. My hair is relaxed and used to be down to the middle to my back , but i recently cut it shoulder length but its so much maintenence and breakage so im ready. Thank you for inspiring me.
This might be a silly question but, I really want to go natural but i have side swept bangs, so i'm not really sure exactly how i would go about braiding them. If you could give me a tip or something i would greatly appreciate it. ^^
Are they too short to braid at all? I would suggest you braid your bangs separately if they're too short to blend in with a larger braid. That way they'll have waves and you can blend them in with the rest of your hair when you finger comb it out.
I definitely have to try this. I wonder if this would be a perfect time to use curl activator (while I'm braiding it). I hear that Jheri curl activator is a great moisturizer and promotes hair growth.
I always braid mine while it's wet. I just let mine air dry because I washed it during the day and I didn't want to walk around in public with my hair in plaits. If I had washed it at night, I would have braided it once I got out of the shower.
thank you so much for posting this video. i was just thinking today about what style i can do at home while i am transitioning. so far i have been slapping some cantu shea butter in my hair and putting it into a ponytail and that is causing my hair to break slightly. plus i don't know how to do cornrows so this style is perfect. thanks again :D
Very pretty!!! You could a bicep tutorial! Look at you. Your arms look so cool. Great muscles. Perfect shoulders. And you are not even flexing your muscles are you? Dang... How do they look flexed. Very nice feminine storng arms. Quite sexy...
Its very easy to cornrow your hair. Its the same motion as braiding, you just add hair as you braid down. Almost likethe flat twist, but just with a braid. hope that helps.
